Darn, missed that one, I've heard it's good, nice review :)
Dorie wrote: "I'm also readingEverything You Want Me to Be
, which is very good so far :)"I'm jealous - I couldn't get it!
I've just read Aussie author Sarah Ridout's debut novel, a mystery of sorts, Le Chateau.I think she will attract plenty of romance novel fans, but it wasn't for me. (This novel, I mean, not romance!) It's still available on NetGalley.

Just finished
Blackwater by James Henry, a very ordinary read. https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...and just about to start
Sticks and Stones by Michael Hiebert an author I have read and enjoyed previously.
Ensnared by Rita Stradling. It's a "read now" title, so everybody can read it, I guess. Not sure if I like it though.
Currently reading
which has me hooked from the start and still struggling through
which is dragging for you but so well written I have to finish it

Just finished
Sticks and Stones by Michael Hiebert. Not one I will be recommending. My review https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
Just finished Void Star by Zachary Mason and The Bear and the Nightingale by Katherine Arden (not NetGalley, but so good I thought I'd mention it) and wrapping up Minds of Winter by Ed O'Loughlin. Void and Winter are both long and unfortunately a bit of a slog, to be honest. But they both have their merits so I'm not trashing either by any means. Next up from NetGalley are the horror/mysteries Final Girls by Riley Sager and Midnight at the Bright Ideas Bookstore by Matthew J. Sullivan (and Saunder's Lincoln in the Bardo, again not NG). Wish me luck...or at least a riveting read or two!
Just finished a very good and slightly different take of a golden age detective story
The 12.30 from Croydon by Freeman Wills Croftshttps://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
Just read The Brother about - wait for it - suspected SWEDISH JIHADISTS! Good story, but if this is what prompted Donald Trump to "warn" Americans not to follow Sweden into the terrorist abyss, he obviously didn't read the end!My review

. I will be reading more by this author. https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
The Steel Kiss by Jeffery Deaver. Almost 20% in, and have to say it's not doing much for me so far....

"Right now, it's pretty slow going for me. Strange because I love World War II stuff. Not sure what the problem is. Maybe it's just me. I've been reading a lot of thrillers which are so fast-paced, might just be a state of mind thing.
Boy, Ali Smith knows how to write! Didn't realise a previous book had been shortlisted for the Man Booker Prize.Loved her new one, Autumn - 4.5★

A Gentleman in Moscow is a new favourite. I don't know how Amor Towles manages to create such a full, busy world confined within a Russian hotel after the Russian revolution. My review

I'm reading The Slanted Life of Emily Dickinson, a very funny graphic novel, and also The Year of No Clutter, a nonfiction book that's supposed to inspire me to spring clean. I'm finding it much funnier than Marie Kondo's book, but not as helpful. I really want to request a good thriller next!
Finished
The Steel Kiss by Jeffery Deaver a few days back. Scary book, in the fact that it quite conceivably could happen...... https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...

Defy the Stars by Claudia GrayA sci-fi book where people from the planet Genesis are at war with Earth for their independence. Earth people have destroyed their own planet and basically want to take over Genesis and do the same thing so those from Genesis are fighting to save their planet. Planets that can support life are few and to be protected.
Earth uses "Mechs" aka robots that look human but aren't and they are tough while Genesis has to fight with their own people. So far (i'm at 16%) i'm not sure how I feel about it yet. It's dealing with religion as well as what it means to be human.
