Just finished: 5★ for the novel The Last Days of Night by Graham Moore, a fascinating historical 'faction' about the battle of the giants, Edison and Westinghouse. Factual background with entertaining imagined relationships and romance.

I didn't either, Dorie, but Edison and Westinghouse have both been household names for a long time.
Just finished a really good NG read
Duplicity by Sibel Hodge https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
Just finished a breath-taking 5 star read
The Hanging Club by Tony Parsons https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
On a roll - three 5★ books in a row, I think. The latest is Nicolas Rothwell's book of essays, Quicksilver. He knows whereof he speaks, and he speaks well about European art, Russian literature, Australian Aboriginal art and history, and the growing interest in Australia's 'real' history.

I just finished Blood Lines
for those who like British police procedurals. I really like Angela Marsons writing.
Currently reading
, The Girl Before. It's pretty good, it won't be a 5 however :( Really really want a 5 star book right now
I don't know if it's me or just choosing the wrong books, but I have had a lot of mediocre book reads lately. I'm pretty stingy with giving out 5's but a lot were just boring. Any of you notice that? Then I'm just waiting and hoping the next book will be that special "5".

Just read my first James Lee Burke, and I'm sure it won't be my last.He sure can write! This is one of his latest, I think, The Jealous Kind, which paints quite a picture of 1952 Houston teens and crims.

I'm reading
They Can't Kill Us All: Ferguson, Baltimore, and a New Era in America’s Racial Justice Movement
I'm 90% done with
, The Stars are Fire and love it! It's hit or miss for me with Ms. Shreve but this one is a winner for sure!
Lilac Girls by Martha Hall Kelly which has had me entranced and enthralled from the opening lines and
Difficult Womena collection of short stories by Roxane Gay which I am struggling with.
Dorie wrote: "I'm 90% done with

Sandy I got this from EW. The pub date isn't until mid April so it's probably still available, check it out!

Just starting The River of Kings by Taylor Brown, The Night Ocean by Paul La Farge, and The Bedlam Stacks by Natasha Pulley. Excited! Just finished Universal Harvester by John Darnielle, which was frankly a disappointment. Stay tuned!
It's hard to believe Trevor Noah, the well-known comedian and presenter of The Daily show (used to be Jon Stewart's), had such a scary upbringing in apartheid South Africa. Everybody had a tribe . . . except him.Born a Crime: Stories from a South African Childhood
