No worries, I still haven't gotten my book yet so I'm going to start now

Book: My Lucky Charm ~ Lisa Mondello
How it fits: #4 Fate With a Helping Hand
Pages: 130
Date Read: 11.08

This was very meh. Can't say it was a bad book but the characters were pretty blah and kind of one dimensional. I ended up not really caring if the MCs got together, I just wanted the book to be over. Truth be told I only read it for this challenge and because it was the last in the series, so yay, I can check it off.

Roll/Spot: Spot 84
Task: Author with O

Book: Pandemonium
Author : Lauren Oliver
Read: 11/8/19
Rated : 4 stars
Review : I wasn't sure what I was going to find in this book but it was good. Lots of twist and turns in the story. Kind of reminded me of some Hunger Games. A really pandemonium.

Completed: 11/8/19
Rating: 4 stars
Review: I seriously liked this book more than I thought I would! Sci-Fi isn't really my thing, but I'm so glad I picked this up. I chose to read Lyra's half and then Gemma's half. Personally, I enjoyed Gemma's half more than Lyra's. I loved making all the connections and I thought that this was such an interesting way for Lauren Oliver to tell this story. I think that I would have liked to see more from each of the sides, and thought that the book could have benefited from being longer!

you got this Shelby!!

Week 10 - Roll 8
Space: 84
A Slice of Love by Andrew Grey

Date Read: 11/8
Rating: ★★★★
Ok so reading this book really makes me want to eat some baked goods right now. So yummy! Marcus and Gregory were very sweet. Of course it's a little quick of an instalove type relationship for my taste, but I did like them as a couple. For once the HIV status of the character didn't stand out as a bother to me. Marcus handled Gregory's status smoothly, but I think part of his acceptance came because he'd already been with someone with a positive status. But altogether this was a double dose of sweetness, both in the relationship and the baked goods.

Review: Going into this book my expectations were actually pretty low since I wasn't in the mood for a book that would make me sad, but my problems with this book had nothing to do with it making me sad. This is such a loved book and I'm so glad so many have enjoyed it but it seriously wasn't for me! All of my problems with it are spoilers, but it was things that I predicted from the beginning. I enjoyed the first half of it, but when the things that I didn't want to happen started happening... I will say however that I did enjoy the OCD representation and how the story switched from past and present

Roll/Spot: Spot 87

Task: series 7
Book: Ham Bones ~ Carolyn Haines
How it fits: #7 Sarah Booth Delaney series
Pages: 305

Spot 87

Return to Me by Jill Sanders
Qualification: The Pride #7
Read: 11/13/19
Rating: 3 stars
Review: This book was just okay for me. Becca has struggled to get over the death of her fiance, Nick. He and his best friend, Sean, joined the military and Nick lost his life. Now Sean is back in town and that brings back a lot of memories for Becca. When she finds a pre-paid trip Nick had bought for them in his stuff, she asks Sean to accompany her. The two go on a cruise and then an island stay, and realize they have feelings for each other. These books are really too short and simplistic, and the characters are not well developed

The Thai Amulet by Lyn Hamilton

Rating: 5 Stars
How it Fits: #7 in Lara McClintoch Archeological Mystery
Review:
Lara Mx!intoch, Toronto antiques dealer, is headed to Bangok for a vacation with the daughter of her boyfriend. She has also been asked to look into the disappearance of a fellow antique dealer in Bangkok.
She finds herself immersed in intrigue, mystery, and murder. Her search for William Beauchamp brings into contact with the wealthy classes of Bangkok society as well as the more criminal elements.
Lara's search uncovers clues to the missing dealer. However she also uncovers secrets from the past that lead to murder. It was an engaging mystery.

Oops I didn't see that, I'll fix it, thanks for catching that.

Well Harry's got quite the problems brewing in this one. And of course this time they hit a bit close to home. Horror film baddies are coming alive and attacking people. It's not an easy path for Harry to find out how everything is happening all the while the White Council is under attack from the Red Court. Time is of the essence. And at the center of it all is the eldest daughter of his good friend. Molly has secrets of her own.
I enjoyed this one a lot. I liked the interactions between Murphy and Harry so much. They finally acknowledged some of the underlying tension between them. I am curious what all is going on with Thomas but I loved how he was there for his brother. Harry's self-sacrificial nature was on full display in this one. There are a lot of things circling and he's only just beginning to realize what he's up against long term.

Review: I'm not a big fan of reading out of order because sometimes I feel like I've missed something important but this wasn't too bad and I don't think I missed a big chunk of info. This was entertaining but I will make it my business to start from the beginning. LOL

Review:
I felt like Sarah Booth was a little over dramatic in this one but I did feel bad for her when Coleman acted so cold toward her. She's going to end up with Graf (I've read ahead) and I just don't like her with him. But it works for the overall series arc, I guess. Anyway, I figured out pretty early who the killer was. I like thise series for how Sarah Booth overcomes adversity but I don't really like where her romantic life is going.

So this was great fun. I've always had a secret enjoyment of curling and pay probably too much attention to it during the Olympics. It's weirdly soothing to me and I totally get wrapped up in it. So this was plenty of fun to read. There's a lot of the sport in this one and well frankly I wasn't really sure who I wanted to win even at the very end. Though of course the final ending was perfect and made me quite happy.
Oliver and Luca were super sweet together and I really enjoyed the patience they had with each other's issues. There was a quiet strength to the two of them that somehow made this not feel like an insta-love story even though it really was. But mostly I really adored the way this story talked about Oliver's ADHD. As someone who deals with it, and was only recently diagnosed as an adult, there's still times where it throws me and I loved reading Oliver's thoughts about his condition. There was one particular passage that basically smacked me in the face with exactly how I feel about most of life's necessary tasks that are just plain overwhelming for me on a regular basis. One of those moments where you go, oh I'm not alone, even if it's just a character in a book who gets it (so by extension the author must to some degree as well).

Your welcome Sandy. Now Sandy if we can get our Scooby up to date maybe we'd be on a roll. LOL 😉

This WAS fun. I got to read some great books with you.
Until the next challenge...
See you around 😉

Hahahaha I just totally forget but I did find
