Hiya, I’m Avery Cockburn (rhymes with Savory Slow Churn). My days are filled with beautiful men who play beautiful games in the most beautiful place in the world. Being an author is pretty much the best job ever.

I live in the United States with one infinitely patient man and two infinitely impatient cats. Readers make my day, so email me at avery@averycockburn.com, or sign up for my readers group at www.averycockburn.com/signup to get loads of exclusive Glasgow Lads bonus material. Cheers!

The next full-length novel in the series, tentatively titled Playing in the Dark, will feature Ben and Evan. I'm writing it now and hope to have it out in August or September (I originally said August, but PITD has a complex storyline requiring loads of research on a secret topic, so it's taking longer than expected).

Here's my favorite line so far, from the end of Ben & Evan's first date:

"This was not a goodnight kiss. This was a stay-with-me-and-I'll-show-you-what-else-this-mouth-can-do kiss."

Thanks for asking, and I'm glad you're enjoying the series! <3(less)

I'm so thrilled to hear you're enjoying the Lads. And YES! Evan and Ben's novel is the next one, as a matter of fact--Playing in the Dark (tentative title) will be out mid-August. I've just started working on it and I think it's the most exciting one yet.
Also, in mid-May there'll be a followup short story for Colin & Andrew, tentatively titled Play Dead, then Liam & Robert's short story will follow in November. And more to come after that! :)(less)

Writing Sports Romance as a Couch Potato

Ever wonder how we non-athletes write sports romances? Over at author Jackie Keswick’s blog I talk about the challenges of writing a sport I’ve never played, and how the Glasgow Lads’ struggles and triumphs on the pitch reflect their own personal growth (or lack thereof lol). Check it out!

“So sometimes life puts a giant plate of steaming hot blueberry fucking pancakes on your table. It’s still down to you whether to eat them or say, ‘No, thanks.’ You can walk away from shite or pancakes. Wait for the next course, see if something tastier comes along.” “But it’s better, you think, to seize the pancakes?” “Aye!” John raised his empty tumbler to the approaching waitress. “Carpe pancakes!”

“LIAM HATED SILENCE. Once, when he was eleven, a case of laryngitis left him speechless for a week. Feeling like his soul had been ripped out, he’d asked his mother for one of those Stephen Hawking machines with a robot voice to replace his own. How cool that would’ve been. Even”
Avery Cockburn, Playing With Fire

“Readers have the right to say whatever the fuck they want about a book. Period. They have that right. If they hate the book because the MC says the word “delicious” and the reader believes it’s the Devil’s word and only evil people use it, they can shout from the rooftops “This book is shit and don’t read it” if they want. If they want to write a review entirely about how much they hate the cover, they can if they want. If they want to make their review all about how their dog Foot Foot especially loved to pee on that particular book, they can."
