R11: Team Double the Trouble (2)

Yes, you must have ALL reviews in before you can roll.

I think so :(

I'm pretty sure that's true, unfortunately. :(

Please try to get it in ASAP! If you could message me too once you post it that would be great - I don't really get notifications from here but I am on here checking.
As Tiffany has now missed the review deadline, your team will unfortunately have to sit this week out. The team will roll again next Friday.

Hope everyone had a good week and looking forward to reading this weekend.

I don't feel like this was completely explained but I'm assuming since we didn't finish week 1 on time we don't get any points from that? Also I don't think we got our bonus point either so I think it's open for taking again.
I rolled a 5 so now we are on spot 12

You can claim bonus points for any book for which the review was posted before the deadline, even though you couldn't roll last week. So Allison Ann's point counts. I'll go add it to the tally in the first post. :)

Review:
This was one of those books for me that I'd seen around or on goodreads but was always a little hesitant to read for some reason. I finally picked it up to give it a shot and ended up loving it! This is a 5 star book for and I'm usually very strict with the books I give 5 stars. More of an easy read for me but hooked me right in from the start. I've now read the first and second book in 2 days and can't wait for the third!

Week 3, Spot 12

Down Among the Sticks and Bones by Seanan McGuire
How it fits: Book 2 in Wayward Children series
Read: 9/14/19
Rating: 4 stars
Review
Seanan McGuire is one of my favorite authors, and she certainly didn't disappoint with this follow-up to the first book in the Wayward Children series. The events in this one take place before the events of the first book, and I think that switch really worked here. I spent the whole time remembering what happens to Jack and Jill in Book One, and it made me curious and also a little sad to see how they get to that point. As always, McGuire's writing is top notch, and I was sucked in from beginning to end.

Week 3, Spot: 12

Book: Desolate Angel by Chaz McGee
Finished: 9/15/19
Rating: 4 stars
How it fits: Dead Detective Series #1
Review: I'm not sure where I got this book or the recommendation for this book, but it probably would have languished on my TBR forever if not for this challenge and that would have been a shame because I really enjoyed it. Paranormal cozies are so often too silly for me, but this book had an interesting mystery, real characters and a fascinating backstory that has me wanting to read on. Let's hope the author, who wrote the first two books under a pseudonym and the second two under her own name (weird), can keep up the promise of this book.

Welcome back Jade! How was your trip?

Week 3, Spot: 12

Book: [I Heart Hollywood] by Lindsey Kelk
Finished: 16/09/19
Rating: 4 stars
How it fits: I Heart Series - Book 2
Review: A perfect chick lit read for the beach. I actually snorted reading it a few times much to the disgust of my husband ;)
The series follows English born, Angela Clark to Hollywood as she embarks on her new writing career working for New Yorks Look Magazine. She has the chance of a lifetime having been requested to interview award winning British Actor James Jacobs. This book is hilarious and full of cringe worthy and laughable moments. I am looking forwards to finishing the rest of the series.

Welcome back Jade! How was your trip?"
Amazing thank you! The Canary Islands are beautiful. It's just a shame we had to come back to reality and English weather.

Week 3, Spot: 12
Book:

Finished: Sept 18 2019
Rating: 4.5 stars
How it fits: Book 1 in The Arcana Chronicles
Review: I really enjoyed this story and will continue to the series. I physically could not bring myself to put it down until the story was finished. It's imaginative and fascinating the way Kresley Cole has tied the entire plot into the system of Tarot, and the post-apocalyptic setting is socially accurate and well done. Cole's writing is lovely and evocative.

Scarlet by Marissa Meyer
Review: this book was an excellent second addition to this story! It follows Linh cinder as being a wanted princess by princess lavana along with a second story of a girl named scarlet trying to find her grandmother. Eventually it shows how they are related which ties the whole story together. Despite everything going on, there are parts in the book that still make me laugh!
Everyone, please try to make sure you include all the required elements (such as date finished, rating, etc.) in your completion posts! Thank you. :)
