It's a good one, enjoy :)

Beth | 1659 comments I brought up Stephanie Plum yesterday and was shot down. Apparently she’s a bounty hunter and finding criminals isn’t enough to make someone a detective.

I haven’t read mine yet so I can’t really have an opinion but my team gave the task to someone else rather than risk me and my Plum book. It’s a shame because I had pulled it out for its cover last week but it didn’t work then either.

☼♎ Carmen the Bootyshaker Temptress ☼♎ | 7238 comments Awesome! Thanks Judith 😁

Beth that’s what I thought too. I forgot she was bounty hunter but GR also needs to fix it too because they have her as a detective 😑

Mary X (marymaryalwayscontrary) | 5588 comments There are a lot of books with non-detective heroes on various detective related shelves. I was looking at goodreads police procedural shelf and it had all kinds of cozies and the like on there which are definitely not police procedural.

I think Chris Hemsworth is also to be blamed for this

I blame Abrams, myself.

He played Kirk's dad in the first one. Yum.

exactly, he played Kirk's dad in the first 5 minutes of the 1st movie. And the plot for the 4th movie involved them somehow being alive on the same timeline. But they both walked away because of money

Keli | 1319 comments Would the title page count as "in the text," and would Poison (Tales from the Kingdoms, #1) by Sarah Pinborough work for Read a book with a skull or other poison logo on the cover and that contains the word POISON in the text?

message 316: by Alysa (new)

Alysa H. | 3840 comments Hmm. I would sort of be willing to accept the image on the cover as being a poison logo, even though it is not technically a logo, because it is so obviously supposed to represent poison.

But I would not accept the title page as being “in the text”. Are you sure the word does not appear in the actual text?

I haven't checked the text yet. Thought I'd ask about the title, just in case. If you're willing to accept the poison bottle, I'll check the text.

message 318: by Alysa (new)

Alysa H. | 3840 comments You should wait for a couple more opinions, but yeah, I am a yes, provided word is in text :)

message 319: by Keli (new)

Keli | 1319 comments The word is in the text.
The skull and crossbones is pretty much the only poison logo, so when it said other poison logo I tried to think outside the box.

message 320: by Lexi (new)

Lexi | 4247 comments If I understand correctly, you are asking if the bottle counts as the logo?

message 321: by Lau (new)

Lau Maia | 0 comments It's a yes for me

Sammy (sammystarbuck) | 12853 comments Yep. it's obviously meant to be a bottle of poison... :)

Do 2 swords and flying jagged pieces of an exploding planet count for "spiky/prickly things on cover?"

message 330: by Cat (new)

Cat (cat_uk) | 10094 comments Mod
The pieces of a planet aren't spiky or prickly, imo. They'll be hot blunt instruments, smashing not spiking.

No view on the two swords though - they look more broadsword slashing than rapier spiking at first glance.

Lexi | 4247 comments Are teeth, such as dinosaur teeth (i.e. t-rex) or dragon teeth spiky enough?

Well, I'm going with holly leaves on the cover, as spiky & prickly, if that helps!

I vote yes. I would think any sword would count as spiky, even if they're not rapiers.

It would depend on the teeth, but in those two covers I would say yes.

Jen | 206 comments Just to check, in the echidna challenge...ANY book on that I saw the movie listopia, or only those that also meet pre-discussed criteria for challenge? I ask because that list has a LOT of children's and middle grade fiction and comic books.

message 338: by Jenny (new)

Jenny | 8050 comments Wouldn't it be fun to read a 30 page children's book for this? I'm for it, but My guess is that it has to meet the 100 page count and the 25,000 word count for children's books.

message 339: by Devann (new)

Devann (devannm) | 2778 comments i thought they said before that you can read anything on the list but we'll see how they reply. i was also wondering as i was considering reading a graphic novel

Jenny | 8050 comments Must have missed that post. It will be a race to see who can find the reference...go!!!!!

message 341: by Lexi (new)

Lexi | 4247 comments I really do not think so since last time when you could they wrote it out in the description (- from the 1001 Books You Must Read Before You Die List. For this task, you can use books that would otherwise not be allowable for the challenge (e.g. due to wordcount or genre))
