Devann (devannm) | 2778 comments i think it is picking up the area where the yellow letters blend into the blue background as a small amount of that green color so i personally wouldn't count it. i think it's only happening because that image is blurry and in a clearer image it wouldn't show up at all

message 102: by Alysa (new)

Alysa H. | 3840 comments I don't see any green either. I thought TinEye might say the "Digging Chewing Barking..." in the yellow circle was green, but no. It seems like it's picking up trace "green" in the background on the TinEye Color Map Regions :(

True though! I think it is picking up on some trace greens.
Thanks for checking it out for me!

Cinthia (cinthiah) | 271 comments TinEye does say there's green, but I can't find it anywhere in the cover... I think they somehow made a mistake on this one. The lettering looks blue to me. You can even go to amazon and it will show the cover more clearly. It's possible the lettering in the small circle is green, but it would be a different green than what tineye says, so I don't think it is.

Tineye can get things wrong (often, I find!), especially when the source image is very small.

I've noticed. Sometimes I'm looking for a color for a challenge and just want to double check that it's more than 50%, and then tineye claims it's a different color altogether!

message 107: by Jen (new)

Jen | 206 comments I've got a problem. The goodreads file on the book I read for task 7 looks like this: Join by Steve Toutonghi
If you ask me, based on the gif, the cover looks dark blue.

However, I am holding the book in my hand and the thing is black. I've shown it to several people and they have all agreed there is no possible way you could think it was any other color. Is there a way I can upload a photo here or something so I can get a ruling?
I know I'm supposed to use Tintype, but I am a computer moron and couldn't figure out how to take a photo of a book cover that 1) didn't involve a shadow of me taking the photo, which would mess with the color, and 2) didn't either cut off part of the cover or include stuff on the periphery that wasn't part of the cover, either of which would mess with the formula. Like I said, computer moron.

message 108: by Jenny (new)

Jenny | 8050 comments Maybe take a picture of it and add it to the pictures on your profile page, and then ask a mod to look at it?

I just looked at Tineye, and it says 90% midnight blue.

message 109: by Jen (new)

Jen | 206 comments I have done as Jenny suggested and posted the photo to my profile. Please let me know. I'm feeling rather frustrated as when the task said, "Black book", I picked it off of the shelf, (my husband even made the Spinal Tap joke "How much more black could it be? None. None more black.") and now I feel like I am being told I have to trust a computer over my own eyes.

I had the same problem, with the book I wanted to read being called grey by tineye, even though in reality it's absolutely, unequivocally black.
opting for an easy life, I picked another book instead. I regret this choice now, as I'm not enjoying it, lol.

I've already finished mine, unfortunately. I was certain about the color so I didn't think to ask anyone.

Do people consider Ubie a nickname that Charley Davidson uses for her Uncle Bob, or is it still an honorific since it’s a mash up of Uncle and Bob and therefore ‘fruit of the poisoned tree’ so to speak?

Lisa - (Aussie Girl) | 6397 comments I'd say "yes" Judith. NIcknames aren't formal, they're usually terms of endearment and this is the context that Charley uses it in .

I do not think so. I checked Tineye and the main color is Viridian at 41.1%, which is defined as "blue-green pigment, a hydrated chromium(III) oxide, of medium saturation and relatively dark in value"

Elena, since no one else has answered. That book is 54.8% green if you add every possible green together and that is six different shades of green. The most common shade is green leaf green at 15.9% and the internet defines this as a medium dark shade of green (https://encycolorpedia.com/526b2d). Without that shade, the other greens do not cross 50% so I vote no but others can comment.

Jen, did you get an answer? Just by chance, I saw your book as a hardback at the library and the copy here looks black or a very dark blue depending on the light. It is not the bright blue of the picture but mine wasn't black though that does not really help yours any.

I vote yes. It is over 50% green, and even if there are different shades in there, the overall look is bright.

JanEyre9 Tell the Wolves I'm Home by Carol Rifka Brunt

Think this is green enough?

message 136: by Lexi (last edited Sep 04, 2019 09:05AM) (new)

Lexi | 4247 comments Tineye says it is 54.9% green if you add all the greens together. The top two greens are Olive Green and Wild Willow and are lighter greens, but Saratoga and Seaweed are really dark and add up to 11% so probably no. Also, the overall cover just doesn’t seem that bright or neon to me. Let others comment as well.

I personally would say yes, but I think I'm in the minority here. As long as it's at least 50% green and the overall appearance is bright, I'm fine with it.

I'm finding players and mods in this particular game seem to be a bit stricter than in other games I've played. The idea is to have fun, but sometimes it's a bit too strict.
