TBR December

Planned
- The Lightning Thief by Rick Riordan
- Deadhouse: Life in a Coroner's Office by John Temple
- The Journal of Professor Abraham Van Helsing by Allen C. Kupfer

The Holiday Swap by Maggie Knox
The Priory of the Orange Tree by Samantha Shannon - I still need to finish before the year is over.
There are some other books that I've started and I'd like to finish and there are also some Christmas-themed books I'd like to read during the month to be festive. I'm not sure what all I will get to/feel in the mood to read.

QOTD: What was your favorite read last month? Why?

message 2562: by Vivian (new)

Vivian Stevenson (passionatelyperusing) | 2032 comments It was probably Beyond the Clouds vol. 1 by Nicke. I enjoyed Priory but I felt so much pressure to get it done by the end of the year that it kinda ruined the enjoyment. Still a very good book though.

The Wonder Boy of Whistlestop. It was my first Fannie Flagg even though I've seen the Fried Green Tomatoes movie about a hundred times. Cute, heartwarming story though.

Idk if it's really a "bucket list" but the first good snow day I get to spend at home I have a tradition of watching the 2008 BBC Persuasion adaptation, the 1995 Pride and Prejudice, or having a Doctor Who marathon with hot tea and biscuits.

A few things on my winter bucket list:
• I'd like to go look at Christmas lights – maybe Lights Under Louisville
• Make my own hot cocoa recipe/mix
• Visit a Christmas tree farm
• Try a new cookie recipe
• Play some cozy games
• bundle up and go for a winter nature walk/hike
• buy a puzzle & complete it
• make a cozy music playlist
• reflect on the year & prepare for the new year

Anastasia looks good. I have added it to my TBR list. I have never read anything by Sophie Lark. It will be nice to try a new author.

Vivian Stevenson (passionatelyperusing) | 2032 comments I’m gonna have to agree with Silas. Hot chocolate. I’ll also drink iced coffee with a peppermint creamer.

I love a good London Fog in winter, though it's available year round.

QOTD: For a fun winter activity, would you rather go sledding or ice skating?

Vivian Stevenson (passionatelyperusing) | 2032 comments LCPL wrote: "QOTD: For a fun winter activity, would you rather go sledding or ice skating?"

I'm terrified of ice skating, so I'll go with sledding.

QOTD: For a motivational Monday, what words of inspiration would you like to share?

message 2588: by Vivian (new)

Vivian Stevenson (passionatelyperusing) | 2032 comments I'm not very motivational lol. I guess, always make time for what makes you happy. Even if you do it for 15 minutes a day, it'll be worth it in the long run.

Ice skating is scary, and i don't like sledding. Basically, if theres snow on the ground my idea of a fun winter activity is to stay inside lol

Elizabeth (estewart399_lcpl) | 601 comments LCPL wrote: "QOTD: For a motivational Monday, what words of inspiration would you like to share?"

I find alot of inspiration in literature. Ulysses by Alfred Lord Tennyson is especially inspiring to me.

"Tho' much is taken; much abides. And tho' we are not now that strength which in old days moved Earth and Heaven, that which we are, we are. One equal temper of historic hearts, made weak by time and fate but strong in will. To strive, To seek, To find, and not to yield."

redigesting past regrets
Or you can come to terms and realize you’re the
only one who cannot forgive yourself
It make much more sense to live in the present tense

I'll go with winter-themed and say Planes, Trains, and Automobiles. It's winter in the movie, and Thanksgiving is close enough to Christmas lol.
