Question of the Day

That's awesome! I have really fell off the wagon when it comes to challenges. I just kind of read whatever I felt like picking up at the time, for whatever reason. I wanted to be more intentional with my reading this year, but that didn't really happen. So, it's one of my goals for next year.

QOTD: It's a cold, rainy November day. What is your cozy reading setup? What could you typically be found reading on a day like that?

I'll try to read on my lunch break if that's the case.

Right now I turn on my Christmas lights and cuddle up in bed with my book. I'll typically have something to drink with me--coffee, hot cocoa, water, etc.
QOTD: If an author is super popular but you haven't read any of their books, do you start with their newest one, their first one, or the one that sounds the most interesting to you? How do you decide?

QOTD: Since Thanksgiving is in a couple of days, what books are you thankful for? (These can be books that you're glad you read, books you loved and are now favorites, or the book that you got you into reading.)

2. Big Lies in a Small Town by Diane Chamberlain
3. This Tender Land by William Kent Krueger
4. The House in the Cerulean Sea by T.J. Klune
5. 84, Charing Cross Road by Helene Hanff
6. The Fire Next Time by James Baldwin
7. Greenlights by Matthew McConaughey
8. Letters from an Astrophysicist by Neil deGrasse Tyson
9. Love and Ruin by Paula McLain
10. LOTR by J.R.R. Tolkien
11. The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho

.
Airs Above the Ground by Mary Stewart
I am a little over halfway through. And it is a nice, quick, easy read. I should make it.

I'm not really trying to finish anything by the end of the month. I finished what I wanted to.
QOTD: The end of the month calls for a wrap up! For your November Wrap Up, how many books did you read this month? What were they? Did you like them? Would you recommend any of them?

November Reads
1. The Land That Time Forgot by Edgar Rice Burroughs, 4 stars

I plan on reading a bunch of holiday books:
The City Baker's Guide to Country Living - I started this one last month but plan on finishing it up soon for Bookmarked.
The Holiday Swap - I'm really excited for this one.
In a Holidaze - I've been meaning to read this one for a while.
There's a bunch more I'd like to get to but these are my top 3 books I'd like to get to this month.

Yay for Kill Creek! Omg...you definitely need to give The Invisible Life of Addie Larue a chance. It's so good! It's my absolute favorite book.

QOTD: Christmas is right around the corner and many people already have their tree and decorations up, what colors or theme did you decorate with this year?

Red and silver.
Krystyna wrote: "QOTD: Are there any Christmas-themed books that you plan on reading this month?"
Here's a few I plan on picking up to read this month:
- The Holiday Swap
- Nick and Noel's Christmas Playlist
- The Holiday Switch
- So, This is Christmas
- Always, in December

QOTD: With the end of they year being almost here, it's time to reflect. What are some changes in your reading life that you've noticed this year? How has your reading life changed from the beginning of this year to the end of it?

I've taken the very big step of getting into the Mystery genre, and also not finishing a book if it's doing absolutely nothing for me.

- T.J. Klune
- Barry B. Longyear

QOTD: What are some hidden gems that you've discovered this year? (This is mostly referring to books but it could also be movies, tv shows, bookstores, recipes, new hobbies, etc.)

Making/decorating sugar cookies is something I'm trying to get into. I need a lot of time for it though.
I also started writing on a website called Medium (Krystyna brought it to my attention) and I think it's very simple and fun. The focus is more on the writing than the aesthetic like a blog would.
I discovered a new recipe! It's Glazed lemon-thyme poppyseed cake--it's more of a bread consistency though.
QOTD: What are some of you favorite words ("buzzwords") in a synopsis, blurb, or a description of a book, that will intrigue you enough to read it?

So many since I started working at the library! The Maiden's, The Traitor's Wife, The Alice Network, just to name a few books. Movies I really loved Mare of Easttown, and The Green Knight.

The House in the Cerulean Sea by T.J. Klune. A lot of YouTubers recommended it back when it first came out. I wasn't planning on picking it up, but I'm so glad I did. One of my all-time favorites!
The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo by TJR. Another great recommendation I actually received here on GR. I'm so happy I picked it up. TJR did a great job at writing characters with this one.
