OK here's one - and it's free delivery too - http://www.abebooks.com/servlet/Searc... The US conversion to AU makes it $19.17 and it says it's new as well...

message 157: by Neko (new)

Neko Dale, if i can ask why don't you use an ereader?

message 158: by Marianne (new)

Marianne (cloggiedownunder) | 9974 comments wow, they are expensive! I just had a look on bookfinder.com, found that one from Abebooks that you saw, Brenda, that's the cheapest one they list.

I don't like reading on a screen Laura. I like a paper book.

message 161: by Lesley (new)

Lesley Moseley | 36 comments I thought a book I loved was called 'Letifah's Gift' by Graham ? (I think... It involved an expat going back to Zim after his (?) mothers death, and something about the legacy to the house keeper.. Anybody know which one this could be, as I was hoping to see if the author had written something new.
I am new here , transferred from Shelfari, but keen to find like minded ex pats, who LOVE Eban Venter eg.

message 162: by Marianne (new)

Marianne (cloggiedownunder) | 9974 comments Lesley, there's a thread for questions like this, someone here will know what the thread is called (Brenda?) and someone there might be able to help you....

I live in outback qld, 245 klms from Tvl, and our rural library system is amazing. I log on and search for a book, if its in the catalogue, I reserve it. It eventually ends up at Charters Towers Excellsior library, where they send me a 'collect note'..Our twice a week postie picks them up, and brings them to my front door, and collects the ones for return. If the book is not in the main catalogue, (Brisbane) , there is a tab to 'suggest' it for purchase.. Eventually, etc...

message 167: by Veronica ⭐️ (new)

Veronica ⭐️ | 2384 comments Don't you just love outback Australia. There is no way the postie would delivery your library books in Sydney.

Lesley Moseley | 36 comments Veronica wrote: "Don't you just love outback Australia. There is no way the postie would delivery your library books in Sydney."

The mail contractor will deliver our books and anything else we want collected, ie chemist, foodworks, and only charges $3 a box.. I get 8-10 books at a time.. also $3 for the return box of books ..GREAT VALUE!! Especially as I can reserve up to 20 books, and also request the Brisbane Library to buy ones they don't have, and then send them to my library at Charters Towers.

message 169: by Neko (new)

Neko Today I received my Assassin's Creed Syndicate Rook's Edition which comes with an Art Book...Now does this actually qualify as a book that should be listed on GR? I did a quick look through and I couldn't find it.
It's not the type of book you'll find in a book store as it's specially made for the Limited Edition game versions.

message 170: by Brenda, Aussie Authors Queen (new)

Brenda | 79974 comments Mod
Does it have an ISBN Laura?

message 171: by Neko (new)

Neko That's what I looked for this morning and couldn't find one which kind of puzzled me but then I thought maybe due to the fact it's not sold without the game then it's less likely to be owned by tuns of people?

So, no it doesn't. But it does say it was designed by Amazing15.com and it was created by Titan Books - A division of Titan Publishing Group Ltd

message 172: by Brenda, Aussie Authors Queen (new)

Brenda | 79974 comments Mod
Without an ISBN I'd say it's not classified as a book...but perhaps if you go to the Librarians group and pose the question, someone with more knowledge would be able to help you:)

message 173: by Neko (new)

Neko Okay..thanks for the advice :)

message 174: by Brenda, Aussie Authors Queen (new)

Brenda | 79974 comments Mod
Hope they can sort it for you:)

message 175: by Sally906 (new)

Sally906 | 86 comments You could also go to the Titan books web page and see if they have an isbn in their on line catalogue

message 176: by Neko (new)

Neko Thanks Brenda, me too :)
Oh. nice suggestion Sally, never would of thought of that actually :D

If they have Laura, put it in here and I'll set it up for you:)

message 178: by Marianne (new)

Marianne (cloggiedownunder) | 9974 comments LOL, I think someone a bit dyslexic added this book https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/1... it says expected publication date 2103, how old will the author be by then?

message 179: by Brenda, Aussie Authors Queen (new)

Brenda | 79974 comments Mod
Good grief! And no one has noticed it until now Marianne!!! No details either - I'll check it out:)

message 180: by Brenda, Aussie Authors Queen (new)

Brenda | 79974 comments Mod
Not much I could do as it appears it's a short story which was in the "New Yorker" - so no ISBN or cover pic, not much of anything really! Probably not really considered a book if the truth's known!

message 181: by Marianne (new)

Marianne (cloggiedownunder) | 9974 comments So you fixed it? It now says 2013, as I imagine it should have all along.

message 182: by Brenda, Aussie Authors Queen (new)

Brenda | 79974 comments Mod

Phrynne's suggestion is a good one, Dale but libraries generally won't ask for new fiction. It's worth a shot though. I'm like you, I don't enjoy e-reading. Good luck!

I'm sorry Michael, I can't see any information about the book, no ISBN or page count. It says for Playstation 4, XBox one, PC... can you link to the actual book page please? Thanks.

message 188: by Brenda, Aussie Authors Queen (new)

Thanks Michael:)

Here you go Laura - I used the cover pic of the book that was already in the system:)

No worries Laura:) Thanks!

message 193: by Dale (new)

Dale Harcombe | 6866 comments How disappointing. Thought I'd get more Bette Lee Crosby books while The Reading Room has a 40 percent sale on. Even with shipping costs it seemed okay. Unfortunately they won't accept Paypal from overseas. That's a sale of a few books they just lost. Sad.

message 194: by Brenda, Aussie Authors Queen (new)

Brenda | 79974 comments Mod
You serious Dale??!! Paypal is cash - anywhere! Like Jetstar had fees on paying with Paypal too! Crazy!

message 195: by Dale (new)

Dale Harcombe | 6866 comments I agree. And if they won't take Paypal I won't deal with them. I will get my books elsewhere.

message 196: by Brenda, Aussie Authors Queen (new)

Brenda | 79974 comments Mod
Fair enough too!

message 197: by Neko (new)

Neko I've never used that website before...But I take it they use PayPal in general?

message 198: by Dale (new)

Dale Harcombe | 6866 comments Laura wrote: "I've never used that website before...But I take it they use PayPal in general?"

For those in US only apparently, Laura.

message 199: by Neko (new)

Neko That is utterly stupid then! PayPal is an international thing and ONE reason it works so well and gives people freedom to buy overseas as well.
Yep, I'd be taking my business elsewhere as well, Dale!

Happens to me every time I try to buy toys in the UK for my English grandchildren. Not just Paypal but credit cards too. You get right to the end and then it says you cannot pay from overseas.
