That's exactly how I have mine set up too. Then I also have folders for kids books (it's amazing how an e-reader can encourage a reluctant reader to read) which I'll still probably hang on to even after my kids have out grown them.

It should automatically sync with the Kindle app. You'll need to email the attachment to yourdevicename@kindle.com with 'yourdevicename' being the one associated with your device, you can check the associated email on your amazon account. That should upload it to your kindle cloud and you can download it to your device from there.

I'm partial Google Play Books app for my samsung phone and ipad. You upload your books to your google account and read them on any device you have connected to that account. Currently they need to be in epub format, since google doesn't read mobi, but that's pretty simple to convert using calibre.

Sally906 | 86 comments Whether they are electronic or physical - book is read then 2 4 out the door!

I delete the electronic ones and the physical books go to friends, the local library or charities. I do not keep them.

Lol... You're so sentimental with your books Sally! :)

message 105: by Sally906 (new)

Sally906 | 86 comments Oh Jools I am sentimental - I have a whole shelf of my childhood favourites - which will never be thrown out as I re-read them over and over again.

I just don't see the need to keep a book that I will never read again - and they all go to good homes :)

That's so good that they all go to good homes, its nice to share the love : )

Jülie ☼♄  (jlie) | 6581 comments Its a shame there's nothing you can do about electronic books, you should at least be able to donate them to a library or such.

I suppose you could start up a market for selling your kindle complete with books, then with the proceeds buy a new one and some more books? Of course you would have to close that particular account with your book suppliers.
Could that work?? I can see kindle swaps happening in the future, it might be wise to keep a printable record of the titles onboard.

message 108: by Suz (new)

Suz | 4426 comments I pass on most of my hard copy books too. No space. Unless an absolute favourite ;)

message 109: by Stef (new)

Stef Rozitis I want to read more books set in Adelaide /South Australia. I am woefully educated about such things (off-hand I can think of one)

Please everyone go to the list I have started and only add book set in Adelaide or at least in South Australia

https://www.goodreads.com/list/show/8...

:) thanks

message 110: by Stef (new)

Stef Rozitis Thanks :)

message 111: by Graham (new)

Graham | 15 comments I added two. Colin Thiele seems well-represented!

I've added a couple by Tricia Stringer - her books are based in and around Adelaide and South Australia:)

message 113: by Stef (last edited Jun 19, 2015 04:30AM) (new)

Stef Rozitis Thanks. Hopefully there are more than we realise :) Thiele did start off in SA so was possibly one of the earlier ones.

I think there was one...a really old one about a girl sent to boarding school and they made us watch the movie in high school and my parents tried to make me read it but I was a teenager and didn;t pay attention and now I cant remember the name

Monica McInerney has used South Australia (maybe not exactly Adelaide) as a location a few times that I know of. Examples are The Alphabet Sisters and A Taste For It.

I'm not sure how to update that list but Catch of the Day is set in Kingston in the SE. A Pretty Mess is set in Adelaide. They are ones I've read, light but enjoyable.

message 117: by Stef (new)

Stef Rozitis Thanks everyone, I will add them. Even though maybe not (yet)enough people have read these books for us to make a definitive list of which are better than others, it's a way I can read stuff closer to home!

message 118: by Stef (last edited Jun 19, 2015 04:26PM) (new)

Stef Rozitis And how on earth did I forget Foxspell which is awesomely and recognisably set in Adelaide

Note to Aussie authors- can you please set all your masterpieces from now on in Adelaide? And I know a lot of people like romance (so thanks for those) but we need some other genres too. Adelaide would be an epic place to have a post-apocalyptic....actually maybe I better write that one.

I have a friend who wants to set a vampire romance in the Capri theatre. I don't usually read vampire romance but I figured if she sets it at the Capri I probably will to see all the wonderful Goodwood places featured

Don't know if you like historical fiction Stef, but Heart of the Country is set in early days SA and Adelaide and is brilliant!

message 120: by Stef (new)

Stef Rozitis I will certainly check it out! :)

message 121: by Mish (new)

Mish | 3600 comments Maralinga by Judy Nunn is set in SA but not central Adelaide, I don't think.

I'm not sure if it's exactly what you're after so I didn't add it to you're list. Great book though :)

message 122: by Stef (new)

Stef Rozitis It sounds like an excellent book. I will add it (even though I am not sure it's geographically close enough really) ;)

message 123: by Nicole (new)

Nicole (niick3lod3on) | 2 comments Hello! I've read this book a while ago and endeed up giving it to secondhand due to travels and now I would like to purchase it online, and obviously I can't remember the name.

It's about this girl that's in a car accident with her friends driving home from a party but for a weeks time she keeps reliving this same day over and over trying to 'make it right' for everyone. Its something called like 'if today was your last day' or something in that style.

So her, a group of three-four friends. They're all in highschool and it's drama in diffrent kinds. Please help me!

There's a group here on GR that specialises in finding books you can't find...if you search the groups section you might get some help there. I'm sorry I can't remember the name of the group either...

Mikana (mikanakat) | 72 comments Did anyone find the group mentioned above? I have a book that I've been trying to track down for 10 years now (without paying over 100 for it). Sadly it's not available on ebook, although I believe it should be, what with the success of the Warriors books, Solo's Journey would satisfy some readers.

Leonie (leonierogers) | 3564 comments It's called What's the Name of that Book? https://www.goodreads.com/group/show/...

message 138: by Stef (new)

Stef Rozitis So I had flailed around a bit to find books for the October challenge so NOW I spot this on my shelf Death in Berlin.

Which would have been fine and looks enjoyable

message 139: by Dale (new)

Dale Harcombe | 6866 comments Brenda and those of you who have read books by Bette Lee Crosby, which one would you recommend?
Since our library has refused to get any of this author's books in, I am about to spend some Christmas money buying one or two. Suggestions please.

The Memory House series is her latest - Memory House #1, The Loft #2 and What the Heart Remembers #3 and I know you'd love them.

The Serendipity Series - The Twelfth Child #1 and Previously Loved Treasures #2

I guess it depends what you can acquire as every one that I've read, I've loved. Where will you buy them Dale as I know they're easily accessible on ebook, which you don't read. Amazon would have them, but the delivery would be excessive. Have you checked out Book Depository to see if they have them?

message 142: by Brenda, Aussie Authors Queen (new)

Brenda | 79974 comments Mod
Here they are with free delivery - http://www.bookdepository.com/search?...

But the prices are huge!!!

message 143: by Dale (new)

Dale Harcombe | 6866 comments Thanks for your help. I just checked on Booko, Brenda and book depository are cheaper than some of the others. One Aussie co, wants $36 per book! Will probably go with The memory House series. Need to see how much I have left for books after buying something else needed.
It'd certainly be cheaper if I read e books but never mind!

message 144: by Brenda, Aussie Authors Queen (new)

Brenda | 79974 comments Mod
It would Dale, but it's your choice:) I know you'll enjoy the series though:)
Good luck with picking up the copies you would like:)

message 145: by Dale (new)

Dale Harcombe | 6866 comments I'll let you know what I end up getting when I do.

Jülie ☼♄  (jlie) | 6581 comments Have you tried a different library Dale?

message 147: by Dale (new)

Dale Harcombe | 6866 comments Thanks for asking Julie. None of the libraries in our area have it and they're all linked so if the main library won't get them in, that's it. Just one of the problems of not living in a major city I guess, but the advantages of where we live far outweigh any disadvantages.

message 148: by Brenda, Aussie Authors Queen (new)

Brenda | 79974 comments Mod
Often they will get an inter-library loan - my library has done that for me on occasion:)

message 149: by Dale (new)

Dale Harcombe | 6866 comments With the amount they'd charge, I may as well just buy what I want Brenda.

Another thing too - there are online second hand book stores that you might be able to search...let me look:)
