Dead Sexy is the second in a series that has some great ideas, but doesn't push them to the extremes and suffers as a result. It's good poolside or rainy day fare, but the characters are nothing to obsess over.

Aren't they great!!!

I finally finished Morrigan's Cross by Nora Roberts this morning. It took me forever to read. It started out pretty slow, and stayed that way for most of the book in my opinion. With main characters such as a twin brothers (one a vampire and the other a sorcerer), a witch, warrior, and shapeshifter in a addition to time travel, and the threat of the apocalypse, I expected more action. For me, action was really lacking, and predictable as well. I understand that this is the first in the Circle trilogy and that the books get better as they go along. I will read the next two at some point, but I'd rather concentrate on the rest of challenge books right now. I gave it two stars for the plot.

Better order the next one too. There are 4 books so far in the series, and trust me, after reading book 3 "Shadow Kissed" (and in my opinion the best), you will want to read the next one "Blood Promise" straight away.

Ok so ..... Ink Exchange is still my favorite book to date. I tire over the Aislinn/Keenan/Seth triangle. This book brought some new and interesting characters and furthered the plot a bit. I like where things are headed. Overall it was decent.
::SPOILERS::
Aislinn should have had faith and known that Seth wouldn't leave her. Her trying to get with Keenan was beyond stupid. It irrtated the shit out of me.
Donia... glad she finally stopped being Keenan's doormat but WTF!? She stabbed Aislinn! Really? Bitch.
Seth ... he kind of annoyed me with his foolishness but I was so glad when he finally didn't just go along with whatever aislinn wanted. He did something for himself. You go boy!
Niall... I wished he were in it more. So far he remains my favorite character...... but who hasn't he slept with!? lmao
Keenan... Never liked him from the start HATE him now. I can't even bring myself to feel bad for his years of struggle and pain. He's a selfish bastard. Can't wait until the tables are turned on him!
Sorcha... I wasn't sure about her at first... I think I like her but it could change quickly. lol

I FINALLY managed to keep Angels' Blood on the list long enough to get it read. Ok, ok, so it was a last minute replacement for a book that I'm too far down the list on to get from the library (wouldn't have been too far down--except that whoever has it out is already 4 weeks over-due turning it in, and it STILL hasn't been turned in. That's just so annoying.)
I liked the story, event tho I KNEW that there would be a HEA--but I'd expected a slightly different ending to what happened, until almost the end of the story. By that time I'd figured that my first thoughts on how to over-come the difference in mortal/immortal love affairs was by actually BELIEVING the propaganda from the immortal creatures in the books. :o) But I DID like the way it ended--and not because she GOT her guy, but because she got something else that she'd always wanted as well as getting her guy.
Now, do I want to read my last book for the challenge--or go over to reading my OTHER books from the Riley Jensen series?? Sigh, so many books, so little time. (I think we need a 40 hour day--of which we are only required to do something other than reading for say--8 hours each day. :oP)
Maybe then I'd have enough time to get my reading done and still have time to indulge in a few other hobbies.

My list:
1. Poison Study - Maria V. Snyder (Yz's list)
2.
I liked this one...love Singh's writing. I was happy with the ending.
3. The Darkest Night - Gena Showalter (Michelle's list)
4. Magic Bites - Ilona Andrews (Melissa's list)
5.
LOVED this one. Very happy that I got to read it. Can't wait to read the next in the series and might swap it out with one of my other books if I get impatient to read the next one.
6. Grimspace - Ann Aguirre (Amber's list)
7.
Realllly liked this one, and I can't wait to read the next one.
8.
I actually liked this one a lot more than I thought I was going to half way through it. I liked the ending. And I couldn't figure out who the villain was, so that's always good. :)
9. Dead Until Dark - Charlaine Harris (Ann's list)
I have a trainee at work now that's seriously cutting into my reading time. :) (Yes, I am lucky enough to be able to read at work.)
I also read If Angels Burn by Viehl. I didn't care for it too much. I might swap it in toward the end of the month if I think I'm not going to meet my original challenge, though! LOL

I just finished A Hunger Like No Other by Kresley Cole. I'm also reading a Dragonfly in Amber by Diana Gabaldon, which is moving slowly, and I wanted to read something to break up some of the slowness of that; I know that like Outlander, it'll pick up. Anyway, back to a Hunger Like No Other. For me, it totally lacked any character/relationship growth or development. The hero came across as a lying deranged stalker/psycho abusive boyfriend type, and the heroine naive and indecisive. He hates/wants her, she hates/fears him, and then suddenly they're of the same mind willing to do whatever it takes to be together. I liked the secondary characters in this book much more than the main ones. I've heard that this series gets better with each book. I hope so because I also bought the first three in this series.

Jeez, that's sweet! I wish I had a nephew like that! :)
Michelle in TN, I have the Kresley Cole book on my list too. I hear such conflicting reviews about it. Some people love it, some people are on your page. I am really curious as to what I'll think of it, but I have Jim Butcher to get through first...

Just finished Skin Trade and I have to say I enjoyed it more than some of the last Anita Blake books. There was more of a plot than just sex scenes, however I think she got a little lazy near the end and threw those in at the last minute. I would have enjoyed more background on the bogeymen like she used to do in the earlier books.

Mel, as I'm seeing with the reviews, some people really love A Hunger Like No Other. For some reason, I've been extremely critical of the books I've read this month. I'm a diet, just ignore me :-)

I'm not sure if it counts as paranormal, but since it involves time travel, I decided to swap out Pleasure Unbound for A Dragonfly in Amber by Diana Gabaldon. It's such a long book that I thought I'd apply it to this months challenge. Overall, I thought Dragonfly in Amber was great. It was an excellent follow-up to Outlander. I only subtracted one star because I thought the authour was a little long-winded for my personal taste. I'll definitely continue with this series. I'd like to suggest that anybody who reads the Outlander series be sure to always have the next book on hand. The ending for Dragonfly in Amber was a heart breaking cliffhanger, and I hear the rest in the series are like that as well.

My Reviews: Night World 2 and 3 were good, not great. There were 3 stories in each book. They all somewhat tied into eachother. I'm looking forward to reading the last book to see if everything gets tied up.
Blood Promise was great! I liked Shadow Kissed better than all of them, but this was an excellent addition to the series. Of course it still has the loose end that leaves you begging for more.
Moon Called was a good one. Like the rest of them it has that nice love triangle which would kill me to choose from the two guys. Looking forward to seeing what happens next.

Diet? :S Good luck with that.
I'm planning on reading the book the last week of September. Figured I should read Jim Butcher and Adrian Phoenix first and leave Rachel Vincent and Kresley Cole to last week. I'll let you know if/how I like it :)

Me too! I really really didn't like A Hunger Like No Other, but fell completely in love with the rest of the series. It's probably my fav PNR now. So yes, anyone who didn't like it, at least read No Rest For The Wicked before you decide about the series.
