My Cousin's Daughter has worn Hearing Aids since Birth and her favourite trick when she was a pre-teen was ripping them out and chucking them away! ... it took seconds to do and then they had to be fished out of the Loo, or rescued from the Dog, and the (best?) time of all was when she came out of a massive Ball Pit in one of those very busy noisy Children Only Areas in a local Pub with a huge smile on her Face ... and no Hearing Aids?!! ;oO

Her Mum and Dad had to ask permission to get the Ball Pit empty of all the other Children first and then they spent almost two hours digging and diving and rummaging through all the Balls and inflatable Toys until they finally managed to retrieve the Hearing Aids and put them back in ... only to then see their Daughter pull one out again and this time feed it through the slightly open Car Window onto the Motorway on the way back Home!!! ;oO

They can joke and laugh about it now - but at the time ... ! ... ;o>

It was a great trick. She was/is actually a very good Girl for the most part but she certainly used to enjoy getting lots of laughs out of driving her poor parents demented over constantly searching for those Hearing Aids! ;o>

I used to drive my family damn near insane for not wearing my hearing aid (i only had one as a kid)..cos i hated the damn thing! Apart from the problem not being recognised by the hearing specialists at the time, that i really should have had 2, cos my hearing was out of balance.....but mainly cos i got teased by other kids, back in the day. The 1980s were an ignorant time for able folks, if one was disabled. So...i tried to get away with not wearing the blasted thing, in my free time out of school! :)

So....yeah..i think i sympathise with the wee lassie...i know her pain! :)

Hi Val and fellow Ozpunters, I have been having a really rough time of it for the last 2 months with an as yet undiagnosed and very debilitating illness. I've had just about every test imaginable with some more to come. All this has left me completely exhausted and struggling to keep body and soul together.
Under the circumstances, in terms of cricketing parlance I think it best if I "retire hurt" for the rest of the season.

Hi John, I really hope the medics are able to come up with a diagnosis so you can get on with the appropriate treatment. In the meantime I hope the symptoms will somehow abate or you are able to adjust to their severity. if it's okay with you and the troops, I'll give you the tips put up each week by Swinburne University's computer (same as I did for MC last season). That way at least your charity is in with a chance of winning something. Don't forget us cos we won't forget you!
