Val H. | 22284 comments I've been out all evening (seeing Luka Bloom) but I think you made it in time David. Even though you picked the wrong team, your low margin keeps you relatively safe.

Tonight's result:

Richmond Tigers (Philip) v Collingwood Magpies (Tech)
2.2.14 (Q1) 3.2.20
6.3.39 (Q2) 7.3.45
9.4.58 (Q3) 12.4.76
10.6.66 (Q3) 17.8.110

A 44 point win to the Pies (oh ye of little faith, tech!) sees The Foe score $6.00 for Launch Housing. His predicted margin of 21 was the closest. Congrats Nick!

Val H. | 22284 comments Tonight's result:

Sydney Swans (Anita) v Adelaide Crows (Dean)
1.2.8 (Q1) 4.5.29
6.6.42 (Q2) 6.10.46
6.10.46 (Q3) 9.15.69
8.14.62 (Q4) 12.16.88

message 112: by Val (new)

Val H. | 22284 comments Another challenging day but Philip has got six from six to date:

Today's/Tonight's results:

Essendon Bombers (Val) v St Kilda Saints (Lez)
0.2.2 (Q1) 2.7.19
4.5.29 (Q2) 7.9.51
7.8.50 (Q3) 8.12.60
9.11.65 (Q4) 10.16.76

Port Adelaide Power (Grizzly) v Carlton Blues (RedJohn)
4.2.26 (Q1) 5.2.32
8.5.53 (Q2) 5.4.34
9.8.62 (Q3) 9.5.59
13.10.88 (Q4) 11.6.72

Geelong Cats (unwanted) v Melbourne Demons (TheFoe)
6.1.37 (Q1) 2.2.14
7.4.46 (Q2) 3.4.22
13.4.82 (Q3) 3.9.27
20.6.126 (Q4) 6.10.46

West Coast Eagles (Sussex) v Greater Western Sydney Giants (Duke)
2.3.15 (Q1) 1.3.9
8.4.52 (Q2) 3.6.24
12.5.77 (Q3) 6.10.46
16.8.104 (Q4) 7.10.52

I only saw the Essendon game and they were an absolute shambles. Unless they take a good hard look at themselves, think hard before tipping them in future. They were dire. The scoreboard flatters them. Saint Kilda were a 5 goal better side on the day.

Val H. | 22284 comments Today's results:

North Melbourne Kangaroos (Steve) v Brisbane Lions (David)
3.4.22 (Q1) 1.2.8
7.5.47 (Q2) 5.5.35
9.8.62 (Q3) 9.10.64
13.9.87 (Q4) 16.11.107

Hawthorn Hawks (unwanted) v Western Bulldogs (Blastro)
4.2.26 (Q1) 3.4.22
5.3.33 (Q2) 5.7.37
12.7.79 (Q3) 7.7.49
13.9.87 (Q4) 16.10.106

Gold Coast Suns (Suzy) v Fremantle Dockers (unwanted)
2.4.16 (Q1) 2.3.15
4.8.32 (Q2) 4.5.29
4.16.40 (Q3) 7.7.49
7.19.61 (Q4) 8.10.58

Three cracking games today. North got off to a great start but the young Lions stood their ground and gradually pegged them back. The Dogs were gone for all money at three-quarter time but suddenly, they could do no wrong. Every pass and mark stuck, every kick for goal soared through the middle. And again, Freo looked like they were going to over-run the Suns, but the latter fought back courageously for a morale-boosting win.

Word has it they're predicted not to do so well this season. Mind you..it was also predicted that the Bombers would...and look at their performance so far! Far too early to say yet...but i recall that the Swans had a rough start to their 2017 season, losing all of the first 6 games..and yet they still clawed their way up to a respectable 6th place.

I wouldn't lose heart just yet Anita. As Duke said, the Swans are often slow starters but they've usually come good by the end of the season. Look for them to shine in home games on the smaller ground that they play to perfection.

Val H. | 22284 comments David wrote: "The Lions seem to be doing a lot better already this season...."

And they're exciting to watch to! So much young talent just having fun and playing their hearts out. I'm hoping we see new recruit, 19 year old Noah Answerth, get a game this year. He was a pupil at the primary school I worked at. A very small boy in those years but he's obviously filled out as he's grown. He has a twin sister who's a talented singer and actress. She won a place at the Queensland College of Arts so they have moved up to Brisbane together. I love seeing the kids I knew doing well.

Val H. | 22284 comments Tonight's result:

Adelaide Crows (Dean) v Geelong Cats (unwanted)
3.6.24 (Q1) 6.2.38
4.9.33 (Q2) 8.8.56
9.12.66 (Q3) 10.9.69
10.15.75 (Q4) 14.15.99

I've been out tonight (Tim Minchin was fabulous!) so only saw the score when I got home. I really thought the Crows would be too strong at home - so did a few of us. Wrong!!! Well done Blastro who tipped the Cats by 25 points and thus got closest to the pin. $6.00 going the way of Zaidee's Rainbow Foundation. Congratulations!!

message 150: by Val (new)

Val H. | 22284 comments He was on stage for 2 hours - no interval. Mostly singing but the odd rant. Some old songs - Prejudice, Mitsubishi Colt, F Sharp, Rock 'n' Roll Nerd, If I Didn't Have You, Cheese, Thank You God - but some that were new to me - Leaving L.A., Plane Goes Down, I'll Take Lonely Tonight, 15 Minutes, Woody Allen Jesus. The encore songs were Seeing You (from Groundhog Day) and When I Grow Up (from Matilda). His voice was sensational, and his piano playing is sheer genius. I love how he can sing a line about Elton John (Mitsubishi Colt) and then accompany himself with Song For Guy; likewise in Woody Allen Jesus he can segue into Jesus Christ Superstar and have you thinking "Gee, I'd buy an album of his piano solos". He has lost none of his fearless rage against "tribalism", confirmation bias and non-sequiturs (fundamentalist Christians coupled with the NRA). He really is at the top of his game.
