Jenne (jennetheinstigator) | 7439 comments The alternates:
Each number corresponds with the spot on the board.
For colors: The cover has to be at least 50%
For locations: As long as the book takes part at all in the given location .
For Shelves: Any book on the given shelf
For Publication Years: I'll be using how GR has it's publication date listed.
For Authors Names: The first, middle, or last name of the author is ok.
For Cover Items: Must have the given item on the cover
For Titles: Only the first word of the title. A, An, And, and The do not count.
So if the letter is B: The Best Day would be ok. Dear Betty would not be ok.

Roger - president of NBR United - (roger_presidentofnbrunited) | 1591 comments Go for it mandy. Hello team I read mostly M/M. This is my second go round and I did both last time, also. I won one of those two last round, just can't remember if it was ss or sss. it is fun, Petya -- sometimes the fun come from deciding whether you want the series read or the alternate.

message 10: by Mandy (new)

Mandy Sickle (thereadingdiaries) | 1343 comments I did SSS when it first started. However I never know how busy things will be so I wanted to not overwhelm myself this round. I've been on a clean romance kick for a while or anything Paranormal.

Christina T (crysteena73) | 1040 comments Hi all. Just got back from vacation. This will be my second SS team challenge. Bad rolls helped my team lose...too bad I was the one rolling LOL. I am a night owl and in CST so I'm up and wide awake at midnight so I could roll right after midnight if that helps but would prefer to not be captain. So, Mandy, looks like you're the one! My work schedule is comprised of nights and weekends so you'll not see me online during "normal hours".

Christina T (crysteena73) | 1040 comments Oh yeah, and team names....I dig off the wall not necessarily anything to do with what number team we are. Here are some I pulled off a random name generator...

Christina T (crysteena73) | 1040 comments Mandy not sure if my rolls will help since I was the roller on my last team and we certainly didn't win. It was just nice getting those extra hours to choose a book and start it. This is the only game that I've played where my night owl lifestyle helps LOL.

Review:I loved this book. The characters were awesome and funny and I love them. I loved all the cool music and how everything was played out well.
I loved the interaction between Riley and Romeo. It was so fun watching them fight with each other, and when we she started falling for him and realizing he was actually not so bad. And how he helped her when she needed it... awww. I love them together. It was really stupid of her to let him go and I could see why but I was still really mad at her.
Now the Marcus thing... In the begging I liked him and he was cool and I really didn't want it to become the cliche that the best friend falls in love with her but it did. I laughed out loud when he tells her he loves her and she is like: "Oh, hell no." I don't know why I just did.
About the family drama, I liked the kid, I didn't like the mother. I can understand that she goes through a rough time but it was't fair to Riley. The dad was annoying.
Overall I really liked this book and I would gladly read the rest of the series.

Review
Zephyr is a harpy who has been sent to the underworld for the murder of a god which is unheard of from a half-god assassin. When her childhood friend Tallon arrives just as she’s attempting to escape intent on saving her. Zephyr’s whole life is going to change as they find out she may be the Nyx who will change the balance of power from the half-god’s and gods.
I’ve had Promise of Shadows on my kindle for months but just haven’t gotten the mythology bug till this week. I was instantly captivated by Zephyr’s story it’s a fast paced fantasy novel that kept me on the edge of my seat till the end. I was able to connect with Zephyr she’s one of those characters who has issues but she learns well. I really enjoyed the story it was one that I wasn’t able to put down till the last page. This is my first book by this author but after reading Promise of Shadows I need to check out her other books. I loved her writing style.

Review
While I love spending time with Cat and Bones I have to admit that I've lost a little bit of love for this series only because Vlad is so much hotter (literally) than Bones. There I said it. I'm superficial. I love Vlad. Luckily he was in this book a lot. As was Mencheres with special appearances by Spade. How could I not love love love this book? Well, I'm not sure, to be honest. Cat continues to be intriguing and her ability to absorb powers from those she drinks from is interesting. I just wasn't absorbed into this story. The power play between the ghouls and vampires, although...dare I say interesting, failed to capture my undivided attention because it felt too political to me (which I hate in my reading). The big bad baddy failed to provide me with heart stopping nail biting suspense and the final battle crested to a disappointing conclusion. No head explosions or anything. Bummer. Despite my complaints the rest of the book was solid. It was nice to see so many of my favorite characters again and the relationship between Cat and Bones continues to stride towards something most people can only dream about. Granted some of it was a bit sappy but thankfully Vlad was there to point out their lovey dovey ways were pukey.

Review:One of the best books I have ever read. It was fun, exiting, action packed, everything you could wish for. The main characters rocked, the writing was amazing and it was just perfect.
I was laughing out loud at some parts and everyone around me was looking at me like I was crazy.
Dont know how I feel about the end though. I'm half creaped out by her sister and dont know how to feel about that. But there is Raffe with his wings and she not responding... it was awesome.
