Round 3 of SS:
This is a team challenge that will require one book a week. The object of the game is to roll the dice (there will be a link to the website to roll) and move along the board. The first team to pass the finish line wins the game.
Captains will roll the dice by clicking here on Fridays (anytime after midnight Central US time) once their team has completed their reads. You may not advance until all of the team's reviews are in. If a player or team falls behind the team has to wait until the next Friday to roll. That being said it's very important to finish and review your book on time. If a player fails to review on time more than twice they will no longer be on the team (excluding a prearranged absence)
How to pick a book:
If you land on single digit spot for example lets say you land on spot 5 then you have to read a book that's #5 in a series. For double digit numbers, for example you land on spot 48 you can read either a #4 or a #8 in a series. Stand alone books will count as a #1 or a #0. I don't expect anyone to read a series out of order and for people that don't really read series books that still want to play there will be an alternate option. There will be an alternate option for each spot.
Sign ups are open now through August 25th. Teams will be formed on August 26th and the game will begin on Friday the 29th.
There will be a separate thread for captains to post their place on the board after rolling and a separate thread for captains to post a link to the teams completed reviews.
Teams will have a chance to earn 1 Free Pass to roll. To earn your free pass your team has to complete their reads a day before the next roll. Once your team has done this you will have 1 free pass. The free pass will allow a team to roll if they are missing a review(s) before the cutoff. The free pass may not be used for the win. Once you've used it, you can't earn another one. It's a one time shot.
Re-reads are allowed
Page limit is 150
When using an anthology you may use any of the numbers in the book except for the .5 since this means 1/2. But you must review each story in the anthology.
Series # will be based on how GR has it listed.
Any questions please feel free to ask!

You can but you only need to do one or the other for your book to count. Sometimes it works out to where you do both :)
Jingles do me a favor and sign up at the sign up thread so I don't over look you :)Glad it's a favorite!
Oh my goodness. I just followed the link and didn't pay attention. Can I erase my embarrassing message #9?
Oh damn!! Looks like I'll miss this one :( I'm going on a much anticipated holiday for the first 3 weeks of September with unknown Internet access. Boo!!
Enjoy ladies! I shall watch from the sidelines this time....
Here's one of mine from last round. Include the spot, book, date finished and rating. Review needs to be at least a few sentences, it doesn't have to be fancy :)Spot 4:

Review:
This is the 4th time I think that I've read this book. I wish I could give it a million stars! This is the first time I've gone the audio route and I am so so happy I did. I was worried that listening to Barrons would ruin it because of the impossible image I have of him in my head. Let me tell you the narrator totally brought him to life. He growled and sounded just as good as I pictured in my head. Now I think I'm going to have to go back and listen to all of these now!
How long does this challenge typically last? Is it approximately 2 months? give or take depending on the rolls? Just curious how much of a commitment I may get myself into by doing this. Thanks!

There's no guarantee that'll be 8 weeks, but typically it lasts around 2 months. The main thing is that you have to have your book finished each week. If you can read a book a week then you're good :)

Quick question, sorry if it's dumb, this is my first time :)So the dice can be rolled any time on Friday as long as your entire team has the reviews in? So when it hits midnight on US Central time, it can be rolled as early as then and up to 11:59 pm on Friday, whenever the whole team is completed. Am I understanding the timing right with that?
Jenne ... in the basic rules you say that teams roll on Friday ... but you don't define the time zone. Are you using Eastern, Central, Greenwich Mean?
Roll is at midnight Central Time Zone as long as all members of your team have already posted their reviews.
Ok all teams post 2 have been updated with the link to the spreadsheet and post your spot. If yours isn't working let me know. We'll officially kick off this Friday, teams are free to roll anytime after midnight Central time Friday.
Also don't forget your team can earn a free pass to roll (it's like an insurance to roll one time if you have missing review(s) by the deadline)
In order to earn it all reviews must be in a day early (Thursday). To make my life easier and to insure I don't miss it if y'all would when submitting the reviews next week please let me know in that post if your team earned it this week. Once you have I'll put a picture of it in the first post on your thread and it's there for future use if needed.
Hey Jenne, got some covers I have questions on.What would you consider these as? Do they fit in more than one color category?
The first and second one grayThe last one could be used either for white or red and it's such a close shade of pink I'd take it for that too.

Thanks Jenne!
Also, I'm gonna be the captain of team 8 and our name is Reneg8 Perusers.
Nicole wrote: "Help, I can't seem to find where my group discussion thread is."find the team number you're assigned at the top of this group
then click on https://www.goodreads.com/topic/group... where all the team threads are
click on the one for your team # and join the thread

Sounds like a blood thirsty bunch lol
Ok just so I make sure I have this all right. I will roll tonight after 12:01 and then post in on the post your spot thread. I don't have to post anything in the reviews thread until I go to link all the reviews before the start of the next roll on the following Friday correct? The book we read will be either a # in the series or an alternate? I just want to make sure I am not confusing myself.
Ok one last question I see we do a 2 dice roll so if the number is say 54 how do I know what spot I am on. Sorry for all the questions.
No problem ask away :)It's super easy and after a week or 2 you'll have the hang of it all.
You can roll tonight after midnight (or when you get up, etc). Since it's our first roll just post what spot you're on over at the post your spot thread. Now next week after you roll post the new spot along with a link to the reviews from the last spot. You'll do it like that from the second week on. The book you'll read will correspond with the series # or the alternate based on what spot on the board you're on. With it being two dice you just add the dice together to determine the moves. So if you roll a 5,4 you'd be on spot 9.

It was longer....but we shortened it!"
what the heck were you originally going to be called?
