It's a bit early but that means more time for us to pick our books! August's shelf picker is Cathy! Congrats Cathy and can't wait to see your shelf :)
OOh, almost time to browse new books. One of my favorite times of the month! (Although I am not making very quick progress on my two history books, which are both very good.)
Yay! Congrats, Cathy! It's always so fun to contemplate a new shelf. (Although that doesn't mean I'm not enjoying the current shelf!)
Congrats Cathy
I am right there with you Lynne. Not making much progress on reading this month. Too much family stuff going on!

Congratulations Cathy, can't wait to see what you pickLynne & Lyn, I've been bogged down by the same book, just trying to get through it which is sad as I usually really enjoy history, but this one "Mary Queen of Scots" by Antonia Fraser though very informative is also very dry. :0(
Can't wait to see your pick Cathy! I have been gone a while from the group and I can't wait to start again!
I am stuck on my second "history" book too. I just keep finding other books that I don't want to put down, thus not finishing it. Hopefully I will finish it on vacation. Of course, The Shadow of the Wind is good, but not sucking me in like the other books I have been picking up.

Will let you know Lynne. It is taking me forever. The beginning I could not put it down, but I am having a hard time keeping interest in the middle. Hopefully, I can get back into the story and finish it soon.
Well - i just can't bear to keep you all in suspense any longer - the weight of expectation is just too much...The shelf for August is Literature!!
I have lots of favourites there and hope I'll find some more. Hope you will all find plenty to enjoy on this shelf!
Oh Tara you just had to say it didn't you....Not back to school :0(It's July I'm not thinking about it, curriculum planning, evaluations ahhhhhh.....
Cathy awesome choice!!!

My daughter was so mad today at Target. She was up in arms over the fact that they have a back to school section. She kept telling me... "They should not start selling back to school stuff until August. It is only July, it is summer." I am with you... I don't want summer to end.
Great choice, Cathy. Off to see what I can anticipate reading. I hope next month is better than this month as far as my time goes.
Literature! Nice choice, Cathy! I wouldn't have thought of it, but it will fit in nicely with some of the books on my YOU CHOOSE list.ETA: Oh, and feel free to add a thread for people to post their Literature plans, Cathy. I enjoy making the plans, even though I tend to not follow them! :)

Double aaaaaaaaaah. :(
Great shelf. I already found several books I want to read. And they will help me with several challenges I am trying to complete. I did happen to notice that both Harry Potter and Outlander are on this shelf! *wink, wink*

M..."
Could be worse, in Scotland they were selling Back to School stuff before the summer holidays had even began.
hi..im new in this group and i have read a few rules and i like it...and I also like the topic for August. It's literature right. Btw how do you choose or find the books you want to read on any shelf here on goodreads? And should the topic belong to goodreads shelves only??
Hi, Hogwarts5927! Welcome to the group. You're right, our shelf for August is Literature. That means any book on that shelf can be read and reported on for the month. It's as simple as going to the Literature shelf, choosing and reading books from that list, and then reporting about which books you've read in the August Literature thread here.
8 more days until September, and the NEW SHELF that goes with it, "What's it going to be, what's it going to be?" I'm so excited!Who's the shelf picker?
I'm anxious to find out, too! I sent Cathy a message a few days ago giving her all the information and links to help choose a new Shelf Picker. Maybe she didn't see her message but will see these posts?? Hopefully soon!!
Has anyone heard from Susan? It is getting close to the end of the month, and you know me, I'm OCDing on what the new shelf will be.
I know! I keep posting in new threads, hoping she will see it. Before that I sent her a message (days ago!) through a friend request since she only accepts messages from friends. She's even posted here in the group since then! I'm not sure what the problem is. This is the first time we've had this happen.
Glad it's not just me, picking my books for the month is one of my favourite things even if I don;t always stick to the books that I've picked
Wow! I was just catching up on posts, and read all the "non-suggestions" in the shelflist thread (and added one), then thought to myself that if Slayermel's name hasn't come up yet, I wouldn't expect to for a long time. So when I came to this thread, I was shocked. The mathematician in me should have reminded me that random selections don't work that way. I guess it was off-duty this morning. I'll get on it right away. I even have a few ideas that weren't on the "non-suggestions" list. Sorry to have made everyone worry -- I often don't have a chance to catch up on posts during the school week. But I guarantee a decision SOON.
OK, caught up on all the posts I missed during the hectic school-week. Now time for some serious shelf-surfing. The weekend's yard-work will just have to wait. :)
Luann, I do now see your 2 posts and friend message. Sorry I missed them before.
