Shelf Picker
Almost the end of April already, that's crazy! Congrats to Natalie!! I'm quite excited to see what shelf to pick from next!!
Thanks everyone! One great way to broaden your literary horizon is to read books from other countries. So, the shelf I have picked for May is…..
French (http://www.goodreads.com/shelf/show?s...)
There is such a variety of great literature on this shelf. I hope everyone finds something they enjoy. (Brownie points to anyone who reads a book in the original French!).
Have fun,
Natalie
Oh man, and I just finished The Count of Monte Cristo.
Did you post the what are you going to read thread? I am off to make my list.

Sunflower wrote: "Harry Potter is still on this shelf-how does that work?????" I think the answer is surprisingly simple. Goodreads attracts bookworms from diverse lingual backgrounds: some are foreign, some are bilingual, and others are learning a new language by reading books in that tongue. So, many books on Goodreads are in multiple translations. Consequently, the few people who shelved Harry Potter as "French" were most likely reading from a French translation.
I guess this is just more evidence of HP's popularity!

Natasha wrote: "Harry Potter is on every shelf somehow. :P"That and Twilight. Which is on every list in Listopia.
French! Wow! You're going to stretch me beyond me regular boundaries, Natalie! :) Although I have read the first book on the shelf - The Little Prince. And I've been wanting to read Julia Child's My Life in France ever since I saw the movie, so this will be the perfect opportunity!
I was just going to say - I think our next challenge would be to see how many books we can read that are on a shelf the DOES NOT have Harry Potter on it.
Natalie is right, though. I'm sure it has been translated into just about every language. I just think it is funny, though. BTW - I love the Harry Potter books, it just shows up in some funny places.

Congrats Natalie...you've managed to find a shelf where I haven't read the whole first page. Haven't read many of these at all in fact. Only the Dumas and A Tale of Two Cities. I look forward to chosing.
I have chosen June's shelf picker. And it is . . . *drumroll*
Blarneygod!!!
I can't wait to see what you choose.
Congrats Blarneygod!Oh anticipation! I can't believe the month is almost up and I have not started a french book.
I can't wait to see what is next though!

I absolutely agree! I have a great time looking through the books and seeing if I have something already on my TBR list that will work or if I can head out to get something new.
Thanks guys! This is so exciting, but I tell you what, picking the shelf is harder than it looks! I've changed my mind six times already! Slayermel, you totally called it, I am completely overwhelmed with the choices, there are so many good ones out there! But, I think all of shelves I was debating between have at least some of the books show up on the shelf I finally decided on. . . .July's shelf will be History I hope that you all find books to enjoy!
Excellent choice, I've just had a quick look and I've got loads of these on ebook so I'll be able to join in when I'm away on holiday. So far I haven't seen any Harry Potter.
Lyn M wrote: "As you know, Tina, I LOVE history, so my list of possibles is quite long. Great choice."I thought you might find a couple of books you would like in this shelf Lyn :)
You managed to find a shelf that I haven't read many from. What a great opportunity for me. I don't see Harry Potter, but now I am starting to wonder about "Outlander"! :)

Actually, there are supposed to be three Harry Potters on the list. I am just wondering how anyone could possibly list Harry Potter as History.
By wondering about Outlander, do you mean that it is on too many lists, too?

I don't really think anything is on TOO MANY lists. Art is open to interpretation, right? But it does seem like HP and O are interpreted A LOT. :)
Well, O is closer to history than HP, and if His Majesty's Dragon is on the list, then I can see O being on the list. But I agree, art is open to interpretation, so it's all good. Just a fun game at this point.

So close yet so far away. . . there has to be a shelf out there w/o HP! I just wonder what that elusive white whale of a shelf is--wait! I thought about picking 19th century--I bet that one wouldn't have had HP! Man, I was that close (holds up fingers an inch apart). ;)

So it's Where's Harry?
