Marianne (cloggiedownunder) | 9974 comments I borrowed The Mammoth Book of Best British Mysteries 6 from the library just for the Alexander McCall Smith short story, but read two others as well. 5★s for those I read.

PattyMacDotComma | 3297 comments Now I get what all the fuss was about! Just read Gillian Flynn's bestselling Gone Girl. Twisty story with twisted people. Not perfect, but very entertaining.
Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn 4.5★ Link to my review of Gone Girl

PattyMacDotComma | 3297 comments For a complete change of pace, I read Mahatma Gandhi by Mª Isabel Sánchez Vegara and Albert Arrayás, which is an attractive introduction to the non-violent protester for justice. It's for the very young, but it will help their teachers and parents learn about him, too.
Mahatma Gandhi (Little People, BIG DREAMS) by Mª Isabel Sánchez Vegara 4★ My review with several pictures

Carolyn | 9836 comments This year's Stella winner is an unusual family memoir, an account of the author and her sister dealing with their estranged parent's old age, infused with dark humour.

Marianne (cloggiedownunder) | 9974 comments Well, from the GoodReads ratings for A Lifetime of Impossible Days, it's clear that many readers have fallen in love with the Willas, and I'm one of them. This debut proves that Aussie author, Tabitha Bird is a talented author and it will be interesting to see what she does next.

Marianne (cloggiedownunder) | 9974 comments Another 5★ debut novel! Little Lovely Things by Maureen Joyce Connolly doesn't go quite where you would think from the back-cover blurb. Moving, thought-provoking, brilliant.
