5 stars. Being an artist really enjoyed this read and it brought back memories of seeing "David" and the "Mona Lisa".

Marianne (cloggiedownunder) | 9974 comments I have loved all of Marianne Kavanagh‘s books (and not just because of the namesake) but I think that her latest, Disturbance, is her best yet. This one is brilliantly plotted and has a deliciously ambiguous ending (Will she? I think she will!).
5 BIG ★s from me.

PattyMacDotComma | 3297 comments I was surprised to find that Chief Inspector Armand Gamache is not his usual reassuring self in Louise Penny's sixth in the series, Bury Your Dead. History, mystery, and haunting flashbacks in Old Quebec make for a good read.

Paul Lockman | -25 comments "Cherry" Ingram was a somewhat eccentric Englishman who became one of the world's experts on flowering cherry blossom trees. I gave 'Cherry' Ingram: The Englishman Who Saved Japan’s Blossoms by Naoko Abe 3.5 stars rounded up to 4, mainly because I thought it had a great overview of Japanese culture and history. Here’s my review

Marianne (cloggiedownunder) | 9974 comments Because I really enjoyed Balli Kaur Jaswal's third book Erotic Stories for Punjabi Widows, and learned something too, I was pleased to the my library had ordered her latest book The Unlikely Adventures of the Shergill Sisters. Another excellent read, and you don't have to be of Indian extraction to enjoy it

Marianne (cloggiedownunder) | 9974 comments I got Mammoth Book of Best British Crime 11 out of the library because I noticed on GoodReads that there was a Varg story by Alexander McCall Smith in it. I read two other stories as well. They are all VERY short. So this is a cheat's review.
5★s for the three I read

PattyMacDotComma | 3297 comments I just enjoyed a re-read of an old favourite, Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck. It's been adapted as a play and a film more than once, and it's as powerful now as ever. People haven't changed.
