5 stars. Being an artist really enjoyed this read and it brought back memories of seeing "David" and the "Mona Lisa".

I have loved all of Marianne Kavanagh‘s books (and not just because of the namesake) but I think that her latest, Disturbance, is her best yet. This one is brilliantly plotted and has a deliciously ambiguous ending (Will she? I think she will!). 5 BIG ★s from me.

Ok I honestly thought Boy Swallows Universe by Trent Dalton was going to be a 1-2 star read for me but it sucked me in, in the end! 4 stars!

I enjoyed this book filled with anecodotes by a nurse who lived in the Hebrides in the 1970s.
Call the Nurse: True Stories of a Country Nurse on a Scottish Isle by Mary J. MacLeod review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
I was surprised to find that Chief Inspector Armand Gamache is not his usual reassuring self in Louise Penny's sixth in the series, Bury Your Dead. History, mystery, and haunting flashbacks in Old Quebec make for a good read.

The Light From the Dark Side of the Moon by Norman G. Gautreau 4.5★https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
"Cherry" Ingram was a somewhat eccentric Englishman who became one of the world's experts on flowering cherry blossom trees. I gave 'Cherry' Ingram: The Englishman Who Saved Japan’s Blossoms by Naoko Abe 3.5 stars rounded up to 4, mainly because I thought it had a great overview of Japanese culture and history. Here’s my review
The Light Between Oceans by M.L. Stedman took a lot of work to get into but it came good in the end.

I just enjoyed a re-read of an old favourite, Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck. It's been adapted as a play and a film more than once, and it's as powerful now as ever. People haven't changed.

Another re-read was John Steinbeck's wonderful, funny, poignant Cannery Row. There were some real characters in Monterey, California in the 1930s!
