I think it means where in the plot involves some kind of a virtual reality game or MMORPG (massively multiplayer online role-playing game). I'm not quite sure, had to google it myself.
These are some of the books that can be considered LitRPG (I think):
Ready Player One
Snow Crash
Warcross
There are some lists:
Popular Litrpg Books
LitRPG: the books set in virtual reality online MMORPG games
Pseudo-LitRPG Books

I had to laugh at this. When I read the tasks this year I thought it had some confusing ones for general book readers. You have to be really into books and the culture to know what all of the tasks mean this year. I had to look a couple up too. Glad I wasn't the only one.
I would look at lists, like Kristel suggested. Here's some more lists on Goodreads. https://www.goodreads.com/search?utf8...

Cli fi is climate change books ,I’ve found more since that I realised I had already wanted to read but I’ve read Life As We Knew It which is a YA book written as a teenage girls diary, a nice easy read.

Also, we have a couple of duplicate names, so I just added post numbers after the second person (or third) to join with the same name. If you'd like to have something besides a post number, maybe a nickname or something made up to distinguish you just for the challenge, please let me know and I'll change it for you.
Good luck everyone!

Books Read

"LitRPG, short for Literary Role Playing Game, is a literary genre combining the conventions of RPGs with science-fiction fantasy novels.[1] LitRPG is a literary genre where games or game-like challenges form an essential part of the story and where visible RPG statistics (for example strength, intelligence, damage) are a significant part of this world. This in contrast to GameLit which involves game-like worlds but do not provide visible statistics. At least some of the characters in a LitRPG novel may understand that they are playing a game or are in a game-like world: they are 'meta-aware'. So, while Tolkien's Lord of the Rings is a fantasy novel, a book about people creating avatars and interacting in a Lord of the Rings MMORPG would be a LitRPG novel."
Here are some lists on Goodreads: https://www.goodreads.com/search?utf8...

I did that with so many tasks last year!
Ready Player One was so good and Ernest Cline is writing a sequel, but I don't know if it will be released this year. Probably not.

I would recommend it for the LitRPG task. :)

I'm considering that one as well. This isn't really my genre. I do have a lot of GR friends that have read it and their reviews are all over the place.
I wonder if Ender's Game would fit? I haven't read it, so I don't really know. It isn't on any of the LitRPG lists that I saw, so I wonder if it is GameLit or something else. Anyone read it and have any thoughts on the subject?
I may also go with Off to Be the Wizard, which I found on one of the lists and my Goodreads friends seem to like.

Oh that's a tough one. I'm not sure that the characters were ghosts. I think they were something else, but I guess it depends on how you interpret it.

I think that one is going to be difficult. I'm not sure what I'm reading for it yet. Depending on your interests, you might be able to find something on one of these lists. Not all of the books listed will fit, but maybe there will be something good.
Special Interest Focused Fiction, Occupation or Hobby Themed
Well Hobbied: Romance Heros and Heroines with Interests

I went with a book about a vlogger.
I think it's a pretty open prompt. It can be anything from baking to star gazing.
Here are some suggestions from the books I read last year. I'm primarily a YA reader so that's what most of these are...
Wild Reckless - piano
The Game Can't Love You Back - baseball
To Have and to Kill - baking
Starry Eyes - stargazing/astronomy/astrophotography and hiking/camping
Posted - poetry and Dungeons & Dragons
Listen to Your Heart - Broadcasting/radio host
The Heartbreakers - photography
Some of these the MCs are doing for a class assignment or as an extracurricular but I consider it a hobby once they become interested in the activity and parts of the book are dedicated to the MC talking about the specifics of the activity and are determined to improve their work in this activity or are working on a project related to the hobby.
This is just from the books from last year :) Hope it helps!

I know I’ve seen plenty of books with hobbies, but couldn’t think of any off the top of my head. Of course, I’m on the app now so I can’t link. One I just thought of is Julie & Julia. I know I had some others. I’ll try to remember them later.

Yes! I agree with the hobby vs career. That's why I didn't include a book I had read about professional ice skaters (From Lukov With Love) and the like. The MC that likes baking in my recommendations list is actually an actress on a soap opera and she enjoys baking in her spare time because her mom has owned a bakery for most of her life. She goes into the details of what you need to do to design a cake and even picking out the right colors.
The piano recommendation the MC is studying to become a classical music pianist because her dad is forcing her to but she loves playing jazz on the piano and pursues this in her spare time. She's kind studying to go pro but because of the "personal interest" aspect I included it.
It *is* hard to separate the hobby vs career! It's definitely a Your Mileage May Very situation. Even if you're not a professional, what if the person starts of as an amateur that does something as a hobby but then gets offered a job doing said hobby halfway through the book? It happens with photography in The Heartbreakers.
Maybe the rule can be that the character in the book has to call what they are doing a hobby themselves. That would be much more difficult for me and would rule out pretty much everything on my list.

One I was thinking about is The Wedding Dress. I haven't read it, but the MC owns a wedding dress shop, but is searching for a particular gown's history just due to her own interest. I feel like the history searching is a hobby. It is related to what she does for work, but not really what she does.
The other book that I couldn't link earlier was Julie and Julia: 365 Days, 524 Recipes, 1 Tiny Apartment Kitchen. The MC tries cooking all of Julia Child's recipes.
Another thought is to think of a hobby, then see if there is a list for that specific hobby. You might be able to find a book that way.

I'm thinking that will be a good one for recommendations. Someone else has read it and says "yeah, its a hobby"

Another totally random idea I had when I was thinking of books that fit that prompt - origami. I kind of wanted to read a book where the MC does origami as a hobby.

Karen, that book sounds good and sounds like it should fit. I think I had one where the MC does rock climbing, but I can't remember what it was. I need to search for it in my TBR when I have a minute.
