Mick knew signing up to run a solo mining operation would be boring, but a ten-year stint will earn her enough credits to retire. She’s got her robot companion to keep her company, and she even makes a friend via communications who she gets to talk to every few months when Sky is flying within range. Once her years are up, she fantasizes about confessing her true identity as a woman and maybe he’ll be interested in more than friendship. Until then, she must follow protocol by keeping her voice synthesizer on, pretending to be a man.
As the cyborg expert on all things human, Sky’s job includes chatting with Earthers, gleaning any intel that might lead to the deadly Markus Models—androids who are bent on ending all life. He particularly enjoys talking to Mick, a friendly Earther stationed on a mining planet. But Sky gets the shock of his life the next time he hails him and discovers not only is his friend under attack by pirates, but “he” is actually a “she.” Mick is short for Mickayla—and she’s captivating.
Sky’s always wanted an Earther woman for his own, someone he’ll never have to share with another cyborg, and Mick is his for the taking. All he has to do is disobey direct orders, abandon his current mission, and rescue Mick, all before his council can punish him for his misdeeds.
I had a rather short area here telling a little about me but then I had more than a few people ask me to expand it so... here goes. LOL. I'm a full time home 'supervisor' which is a nice word for saying I'm a housewife. I'm married happily, I met my dream guy 20 years ago, and we have 4 children. I live in Southern California and I can't function without iced coffee. I believe in romance, I've always been a daydreamer, and I'm a HUGE fan of books, always have been.
No, I didn't know that I always wanted to write. I inhaled books as a child. I read entire series (Pippi Longstocking, Nancy Drew and The Hardy Boys, Trixie Beldon, The Borrowers, etc) in a matter of days at a time. By the time I was nine years old I had an adult library card where I visited often. I moved on to John Saul, Stephen King, Richard Laymon, Agatha Christie, and then found romance. I was hooked. I wrote poetry in my teens and then moved on to short stories. My first book was started after I read a real bomb of a book that ticked me off with really horrible characters and a plot that was shabby at best and I thought... I could do better. LOL.
I wrote my first book which will probably never see the light of day in the early 90's. I wrote a series of a few books from it. I'm a series fan! I kept writing for fun, wrote MANY books and then in 2009 I decided to try to get published. I wrote my first Sci Fi romance and Ral's Woman came to be. I submitted it and with a little tweaking, Ellorascave sent me an acceptance letter. It was kind of a 'Cinderella' experience for me. It's been a terrific ride so far and I'm really happy that I finally had the time to commit to writing full time. It's a dream come true.
Mick and Sky I think this was my least favourite in the series so far. I missed the exciting adventurous bits that most of the previous books in the series had. There is a continuing story line from previous books with the Marcus Models androids who want to destroy the Cyborgs and this time they have some unexpected allies , but overall the story felt cut-off from the previous books. Mick the female heroine is another one of the tough and hardworking but still sentimental girls that the author favours. I would prefer that she was more energetic and save the day somehow and not just wait for Sky to save the day and come back so they can have sex. Again. The fact that she had hided being a female at first and pretended to be a guy was forgotten too soon. I was expecting more funny moments and a more surprised Sky. I loved the last scene with Mick's best friend. I thought that idea about the mix-up was genius.
Color me disappointed. There was zero conflict between the hero and the heroine. Zero, zilch, nada. He rescues her. They had basically been online/over the airwaves friends. They see each other, confess their love for each other and get married. Some bland sex ensues. The only interesting parts were the bits about finding out more about the Markus models.
This one was a little boring... The love story was really, really simple: no conflict anywhere! OK, I don't like too many angst, confilct and other such stuff, but here it was really like this: - Sky saves Mick, - Sky discoveres that Mick is a woman, - Mick feels safe with Sky - Sky lust after Mick - Mick, after 4 years alone lusts after Sky - Sky asks Mick to marry him - Mick says yes - They life happily ever after!
That's it. And all this happens in the first pages. Everything after is how nice they're together.
Ah, and as afterthought, the Markus Models have subjugated the pirates and use them to search for the cyborgs. But it's almost like an afterthought...
Not really bad, but not really good either... I really hope the next one will be better.
I love Laurann Dohner’s Cyborg Seduction Series!!! I have been anticipating this book for three 3 years!
Falling for Sky 😍❤️🔥 I’m so in love with this storyline. He is considered to be an expert when it comes to interacting with the humans. To understand this storyline, I’d recommend reading or listening to this hot and addictive series. I have listened/read this entire series and I love them, but Sky is one of my favorites. He meets Mick an earther working alone on a dangerous mining planet. He thinks Mick is a man, as they talk through the radio out in space on his spaceship. Mick chats with the gorgeous Sky through a voice synthesizer. But, Sky receives a hail from Mick for help. He goes against protocol to go and help Mick. What a pleasant surprise for them when the handsome cyborg rescues Mickayla ❤️🔥. Instant attraction and hot, sizzling attraction! The storyline is so good and I didn’t want the story to end. Sky of course is going to have to answer to the Cyborg Council for going off course. They were on a mission to find the very dangerous threat to cyborgs and humans, the Markus Model androids. This is a action packed and fast paced storyline. With lots of gorgeous cyborgs for future books! Sky and Mick are perfect for each other, he is sweet and understanding and always wanted a human woman for a mate. Mick is a beautiful and strong heroine and Mick is a big and strong and compassionate cyborg. This story has action, suspense and romance with steamy love scenes. It’s witty and I of course got emotional reading chapter 14 in the middle of it 🥰 Laurann Dohner’s Cyborg Seduction Series just gets better!
I really liked this one If Lauren Dohner writes it you know it's going to better than most books. I flew through this book and wished I hadn't because I enjoyed it so much. I do wish we had gotten more of the story that was started in this book, but I know we don't because the storyline will continue in future books. I also felt really bad for the other lonely cyborg men. They really got the short end of the stick here. They have three choices: 1) stay alone, 2) get with a cyborg woman who are all mean, pushy and very demanding and demeaning and share her with her other husbands, or 3) pray you find a human woman which is less than 1% chance. I can't wait for the next book in this series but honestly for any book she publishes next.
This book is a prime example of how not to write a romance book.
This book has already won the title of the worst book I've read in 2020 (and we're only in January!) because I expect no other book can fail this hard at being what it is intended to be. I highly doubt any book will top this.
Dohner's books usually have entertaining plots and easy to love characters. Those qualities help Dohner be an auto buy for me. I haven't kept up to date, but the last few books that have been released have been a little shaky in quality, but still entertaining.
What happened?
I saw trouble from the beginning. The story starts with Mickayla and Sky having already formed a friendship before the story starts. While this isn't bad by itself, it is difficult to do well in romance because the bulk of the start of their relationship has already been created "off screen" and we are being told to imagine a relationship that has not been shown. This can go well if a Persuasion style of story is set up, but it was not. Mick and Sky apparently have a close bond but there is nothing shown to establish this. If only I had DNFed right then and there.
The plot devolves into nothingness from that point, because it is a mockery of a plot since there is no actual plot here.
The riveting dialogue also did no wonders for this book. For example, this amazing passage:
They talk so much about absolutely nothing. The inane conversations were long and tedious. Okay, in real life, you would talk about everything on a first date, that is how you get to know each other. But in a story, no, irrelevant conversations need to be cut. It was like watching a dinner conversation of two people on a first date and all they do is talk throughout the book. Mind numbingly dull to watch.
There was also info dumping everywhere. Exposition was used without any restraint. It also often felt like Dohner was trying to educate readers who haven't read the previous books in the series. A lot of backstories told in previous books were retold that wasn't necessary to the story, but only added to the word count.
I was just so... bored. No trace of a plot along with forgettable characters makes for a terrible book to read.
Mickayla and Sky are pleasant characters if completely bland and dull. The way they talked and the way they acted were just... uninteresting. I can barely come up with three words to describe their personalities. There is nothing to write about them. And there was no falling in love. They just kinda got together and stuck together to the end. No love, no passion, no emotions. Just they're a couple now, I guess?
The villains had no bite. They posed no threat. They have always been laughable but in this book they were especially laughable because .
Something that has always made me uncomfortable about Dohner's alien and cyborg books:
The ending with Jorg was cute . It helped the book end on a good note. The one star that this book is getting is all due to Jorg.
The lack of any care in crafting this story was immensely disappointing.
I honestly thought this was ghostwritten because it is so awful and low quality, but I saw Dohner's signature writing style in the story, so I don't think it is ghostwritten (unless the ghostwriter is a very good imitator but overall terrible writer). At this point, it would be better if it is ghostwritten because that provides a reasonable explanation for what happened.
I feel as if this book deceived me because what I got was not a romance. I have another new book by Dohner called Best Friends to read and if that one is anything like this, while it will break my heart, I'm not going to be able to continue reading more from Dohner. I will have to quit until I know the quality has improved. I read romance for a love story with a happy ending, not a grocery list of jumbled thoughts.
. I want to give this a higher rating because I did really enjoy it. But the story did come up short in the plot department. Loved Sky and Mick. Loved the silly ending. Loved the new twists on the evil Markus Models. But the romance between Sky and Mick was such smooth sailing I was a little disappointed. Kind of like Deviant's story except there you had his evil mother causing trouble. Here, there just wasn't anything. ... and I gotta wonder, what the heck did Mick do with her time when she was stuck waiting in his room for hours on end?
But anyways, it was cute and very low angst which I appreciated as I could use a little less stress lately.
Mick runs an automated mining complex far far from Earth. She is attacked by pirates and it looks hopeless until Sky comes along and saves the day. They had been chatting for years, but she had always pretended to be a man (using a program to alter her voice) as a safety precaution. Now she figures she has nothing to lose.

Argumento:
It was nice to revisit LD's Cyborgs. I've been reading her books for years, and most of mine are pdf copies. As much as I enjoyed Sky and Mick, I thought their relationship was a little too much insta-love. Sky seemed to have the gift of charm and grab, and learning of the male/female disproportion, if I were Mick I would've wanted to get to know him a little better first. Their HEA seemed to be just starting, with no epilogue just a sex reference and a creepy robot companion. And finding out about the Markus Models felt like just the tip of the problem, with no results. Sorry I've throughly enjoyed LD's Cyborg and New Species Series and wish I could've given this more stars.
I was so bored reading this book. I loved Sky in all his appearances in other books in this series and I was eager for his story to be written and released. This was so lacking that the anticipation of it was the only good part.
There really wasn’t much of a story here. Sky found a mate and in less than 24 hours they were happily married. The whole rest of the book was spent on speculation of the Markus Models, with no action or any real romance. There was absolutely NOTHING worth remembering or mentioning in this book. It was basically over as soon as it started. The rest was just filler to lead to possible plots for other books.
I have to say that this was never my favorite series by this author. Due to the slavery and rape aspects of the first four to six books in the series. But it definitely compelled me to keep reading it. It won me over in the many wonderful characters that were written. I loved Deviant’s book the best, with Coal’s a hot second place. I even had my opinions changed for the better with characters like Krell and Zorus (he’s still got me confused but I liked his book a lot as a major turning point in this series). Many other characters I’m still waiting on, like Mavo, Gene, and the medic who’s name escapes me right now. I love that this author can make characters that you like and characters that you don’t like. Her books are always different and yet you still read them because their stories are very interesting and you want to know what happens next.
But this book was such a complete waste of time and money. The grammatical errors were so bad I had a hard time reading it. I was left wondering if anyone had actually proofed it before publishing. This book was PROMISED to be released back in June and yet here it is now October and this product still needed major work before allowing the public to buy it. It seemed what should have been a subplot was the only plot and the romance was nonexistent. I don’t read romances for the subplots. I read them for the romance and the characters “FALLING INTO” love. I can understand an insta-love story, but this wasn’t that either. There was no, zero, nada, romance in this book. The human women have basically become grocery lists in this series. Like, “Oh, while you’re out in space doing your job if you happen across a single female just pick one up for me too please”. Lol smh
I can’t express enough how disappointed I am. The lack of effort in this book is so clear it’s glass. I’m hesitant to buy the next book now.
Just ok.. Sky has been one of my favorite cyborgs so I really wanted him to find his human. Unfortunately that's pretty much all that happened. Sky has been communicating with Mick for four years over coms. She reaches out to him because she's about to be captured by pirates where he learns Mick isn't a dude after all. Sky goes against orders to save Mick, they fall in lust, then love and are married within a few days. That's pretty much it. There's no drama, no deep emotions, no real conflict...nothing
We do get a little update that Gene is still looking for Danica so maybe they'll finally get their book since the author said it would come after Blackie's. Not sure what happened there.
Sky was , I mean is a perfect guy. He might drive you nuts if he worked for you,but as a mate he’s pretty much prefect. As an employee,Sky would drive you crazy, following hi# own rules and ignoring yours but like w/the cyborg council you’d have to keep him around because he’s too damn good at what he does to let him go. Sky is cocky or arrogant per se, he’s just good at what he does and doesn’t mind breaking rules to get it done. He started out differently than most the others and doesn’t have that knee jerk reaction to humans most cyborgs do. Now while it makes sense why cyborgs feel the way they do,to just assume ALL humans are “bad” like they do,not only gets old really fast but considering all the assumptions made about them based on hear say and second hand gossip it does feel a tad hypocritical at times. All that said ,this book mainly felt like filler,in a series I haven’t even read all the books in. I say that because the oddly named heroine “Mick” ,Mickayla, his romantic interest has no real development past the first chapter. They fall together faster and easier than peanut butter to jelly and she just seems to float around n Sky’s wake like everyone else. I don’t really wanna dis “Mick” other her dreadful nickname ,but there is just nothing to her. I liked her when the story started but when I saw how she and Sky were just going to fall into a sync too perfect and soo sweet they might make even a Disney or Hallmark couple jealous ,I started to fall away from them. While I would love a sexy sweet guy like Sky to come in and sweep me away,we’d never last if we had zero chemistry or tension or anything . It felt like the went from “Hi, I’m Sky, to Hey, I’m Mick, to don’t be scared, sorry I lied about ,to having sex and then “Will you marry me ?” Easier than picking out a puppy at the pound. While I don’t want a TSTL heroine who can’t listen, or is ungrateful,or is overly stubborn or sassy Mick after a while just seemed to be there. She just trailers along after Sky as he seemed to be the only to able that think past the cyborg indifference and prejudice to see the bigger picture as to what was really going on. Honestly I could see why he was soo cocky, Sky seemed to do or have to do everyone’s thinking for them. Mick felt like some Hallmark created stepford mate, as they both fall all over each other to always make the other happy. Any while I don’t my jollies watching my couples fight, watching to ppl either fawn over each other or F is boring... and that while “Sky explains it All” ,because he’s the on,y who can seem to think for himself was all that really happen. That’s why I say this just felt like a filler or bridge book ,the couple came together w/less chemistry or drama than your average Hallmark couple ( except they have lots of sex) and Sky seemed to be the only able to think I’d see what was going on. Seriously, I like Sky but the wY he seemed to have to lead everyone around by the nose, made them look like a bunch of sheep flicking around to his shepherd. Ok, I guess if your really into this series and don’t mind your plots at but thin and your couple bland . Personally I can’t recommend unless your following the series but that’s just me. I like my books and plots and characters,to have more layers and substance than this. Not bad but
This is one of my all-time favorite Cyborg series. Sky and Mick have been talking for months, just chatting and becoming best friends. And then her post gets invaded by pirates and Sky goes against protocol and saves her. Sky is one of my favorites, he is the one in charge of talking to humans to get important intel, and is hilarious too. He and Mick are great together, he knows that he wants her and she doesn’t shy away. This is a great storyline where we learn even more of the ongoing storyline. Such a great series.
This was a safe read, no shenanigans. Some of the Cyborgs are obviously interested when they see her...but Sky shuts that down. He cracks me up, and I love that Mick is not shy about wanting Sky too. They have great heat, chemistry and are virtually inseparable once they meet and get together. We get to see a lot of our favorite Cyborgs, which I always love. Great book and ongoing storyline. Always want more...next book please.
I'm afraid this book was a bit of a disappointment. Mick and Sky had been chatting for months. Neither one is honest about who they are. Mick thinks that Sky is a freighter captain. Sky thinks Mick is a space miner. When Mick's station is attacked by pirates she drops all subterfuge and calls out to Sky for help. He can't help but be surprised that Mick is really a woman. He breaks all protocol and goes against orders to rescue her. Within a day of her rescue they are having sex. There is some development on the search / pursuit of the Markus model androids, however; that takes backseat to the sex scenes. I wish there would have been more plot and less sex. IMO, back to back, repetitive sex scenes are no substitute for a good story.
I enjoy reading Ms. Dohner's books quiet a lot and this one was ok. Honestly it was a bit boring because for the most parts nothing happened. The most interesting thing about it was the information about the race of aquatians on Garden and bits and pieces of info that was given. For me Ms. Dohner books go into two categories the ones I would read ones and the ones I would reread from time to time. Falling for Sky goes into the first category, it is a nice little read that gives you more background to the world and thats it. I think that if you like the cyborg series you can go for it but be ready for a little bit of boredom
I absolutely loved reading this one and I can't wait for more in this series. A fantastic sci-fi cyborg romance with excellent descriptive passages. The characters were and and very likeable.
This started great, but then got a little...meh. Insta love, which I didn't feel was necessary. I liked the characters and the storyline, but something was missing.
BEFORE READING: ------------------- I've been a HUGE-HUGE fan of Dohner's Cyborg and New Species series. Many girls want to reimagine childhood beast-taming stories & tame the SAVAGE BEAST-MAN after a huge savage grown-up battle. No whiny snivelers allowed.
The FICTIONAL SAVAGE BEAST-MEN are a great escape from my in-real-life men: ie Superficially Politically-Correct, Smiling Backstabbers, Passive-Aggressive, Narcissistic, Un-masculine, Helpless, Fearful, Sneaky, Thieves, videogame addicted, Lazy, Cheaters.
Not all the men I know are like that, but a good coworker or life-partner is hard to find, and usually coworkers and competing department managers have to figure out a way to out-compete you or denigrate you for them to look better for climbing the corporate ladder or staying employed. (Corporate "Forced Ranking" employee appraisals that turn the work world into constant rats fighting in a cage and rump-kissing.)
I DO WISH Dohner would take on a helper team of some sort to help her write more books, and maintain quality. Her ultra-delicious Cyborg & New Species books are really slowing down and there are so many characters to write for, or create spin-off series for.
Sky is the cyborg that understands humans and has a fun loving personality. Naturally that often leaves him on the outs with his friends, but on the pulse of the outside world. It’s a good thing because he was there when Mick needed him most. I absolutely loved how he was willing to get in trouble to come to her aid, and how she found her way to his heart. They might have started their relationship in a blaze of fire, but they accomplished so much throughout the story. Now I just need the author to write the next installment so I can see what happens next.
This is another addition to one of my favorite series of all time. I have reread 4 of these 3 times and 1 other twice, so far. I am very excited to finally get some of Sky's story. This story though felt like more of a linker into more to come. Although there was an HEA, it almost felt like an HFN because there were two substantial teasers/cliffhangers in ongoing plots and the story of other characters. I did enjoy this plot development (Markus Models) and the status of a few other already known characters (Gene, Danica and their family and friends, as well as, how Flint is fairing with Mira). This book is definitely much more enjoyable if you have read at least the first in this series, and even more if you have read them all. Looking forward to many more additions to Cyborg Seductions!
Not sure how long I was waiting for this book. Maybe as long, as Sky wanting female of his own. I'm really glad, that he finally found the one. She's perfect for him. It was great to see more of Sky, because hes one of my fav and always brings fun, whit his cyborg/human mix. Honesty, I hope these series doesn't end anytime soon. There's a lot of cyborg and I want to know more about each of them. Also I'm curious, what will happen next, with those creepy things.
I was hoping for more. I read every book in this series and I feel like this one is missing something. Maybe more heroine involvement??? I was not sure about the Insta love between Sky and Mick but then I got caught up in the pirate issue and was caught surprised when the book ended. The pirates and Markus are still out there and she just got to sit and wait while he did his job. I dunno ....
Sky is a cyborg Captain and a human specialist. His knowledgable and expertise in regards to humans make him invaluable to the cyborgs cause. It also allows him to get away with breaking the rules.
Mickayla aka Mick is a third-generation miner, managing a mining operation by herself. She may work for the EG (Earth Government) but she has no love for them since they killed her parents. Sky and his crew are on a mission to track down the Markus Models and specialized shuttles that were stolen, when he discovers his friend 'Mick,' is being attacked by pirates. He knows he can't expose the cyborgs but when he discovers Mick is actually a woman with no skills to fight the pirates, he breaks all the rules to save her.
Once he has her on his ship, he knows he wants to keep her forever even though he knows he will be punished by the Council for endangering them all.
Their story moves fast but they've been friends for years talking through the space. Liking turns to lust and almost instant love.
I have enjoyed this serious ever since I read the first book in 2014. While this book was enjoyable, I had this sense that I was only skimming the surface and that there was very little depth to the story. Dohner will highlight something about them, their skills or the Markus Models than quickly move on to the next scene without a lot of detail in the prior scene. Both characters are likeable but I wanted more than the surface of their relationship, the fight with Markus Models and their trip to Garden to push this to a five-star rating.
I almost forgot these books existed. Then it popped up somewhere and I found out there was only one I hadn't read yet ... which is a shame because out of all the series Dohner writes I like this one best. Provided number 11 was written three years ago, there is no chance I will remember to check on it every now and then in case a new book in it comes out. So that's a bummer. In this book we get to follow Sky, the Earth expert who needs to save a lady in distress. He is the funniest of the bunch as he's learned to communicate with humas so as far as his explanations and wooing goes, he is the smoothest. What I missed in this book, however, was action. The storylines usually bring more danger but here it was kinda too easy. Not that I'm complaining too much, it was still a nice story to read, it's just that a little bit of danger wouldn't be bad with the pirates and evil droids swarming the galaxy. But then again the pirates and droids aren't the reason I read these books so... :-D
Sky and Mick is a great story I was so happy to see the Laurann wrote a new Cyborg book. Most of the story is very entertaining and fun to read. I love that the vast of Character's is reintroduced and that they at least spent a little time on Garden. Wish it was more. I guess the only reason I have it a 4* was that the by play between Sky and Mick seemed kinda generic. I can't out my finger on it but there was just something missing that I never notice in most on Mrs Dohner's work and I've read it all. I would like to see a Cyborg book that takes place on Garden. Maybe what was lacking was the imagination she brings with new environments. Nicks work planet was amazingly described. Still a great read and I hope she revisit 's this series again. DanaLynn
Sky is an escaped cyborg from Earth who rescues an Earth woman from a mining moon being attacked by space pirates (and not the good or good looking kind). Sky and Mick have been “friends” via communication only with Sky trying to find out info to protest the hunted cyborg world. If you’ve read other books in this series you understand the situation. Book 11 is not a good starting point in the series.
I found the story ok but it was more a vehicle to move the series along and not build a good romance. It’s basically Sky wants an Earth woman, Mick is tired of being alone, let’s fall in love and learn more about the Markus Models, deadly enemies to everyone. The story is rather simple. It does not compare to the earlier books in this series. Go back and read from book one.
Mick was an earther stuck on a mining planet. Sky had spoken with her over the coms and gotten to know her as a friend. Her planet is suddenly attacked by a bunch of pirates and she's left stranded facing death or worse. When she puts out her mayday, Sky and his crew on the Varnish are the only ones who are nearby and he takes control to save her knowing that it will cause him trouble.
Sadly, this is the last book so we don't get any closure on the Markus Models, Danica & Gene, or the pirates being controlled by the Markus Models.
Their love story is somewhat slow and sweet for these books but beautiful none-the-less. Sky is a character amongst the cyborgs so his and her interactions are a bit more normal than the other cyborgs who are fighting the attraction from the beginning.

I am a new species and Zorn fan. This is not a book. Nothing was solved. I barely got a handle on the cast of characters and the book ended. There was no plot. We were told about a battle. We experienced nothing. We found nothing. We fixed nothing. We did not even grow as a couple. Spoiler
The girl got rescued, signed legal papers, landed on garden, ordered clothes and got her android returned sort of- the end. The ending was so quick I thought it was a download error. Not worth any money. A one paragraph synopsis will give you the same info without wasting money or time. I want a refund.
