This one is too close for me to call...I would say yes, but not sure enough to say go ahead and use it. I'll check with Kat...
Thanks Karen! There are other characters in the book who may work for blue collar. The girls father is a maintenance worker for the castle grounds. Could that work?
Morgan wrote: "Thanks Karen! There are other characters in the book who may work for blue collar. The girls father is a maintenance worker for the castle grounds. Could that work?"The problem is the occupation must somehow be either indicated in the précis or it must be tagged to indicate it. I've posted it in the Q&A thread, so hopefully we'll hear from Kat before too long. I started going through the shelves looking for firefighter or blue collar, but only made it through about 15 before I gave up...definitely not going to make it through more than 100!
Current book I'm reading: The Outpost shelved blue-collarx2Next book: When Life Happened Male MC is an electrician per the book summary.
Not sure if that helps anyone but that's what I found on my shelves without looking too hard.

I'm going to post this in the Q&A thread too, but I'll answer here too - specifically towards your books.
For the In Death book, I know from reading them that it is early enough in the series that Peabody is still a cop, not a detective (That shouldn't really be a spoiler). You need to find a shelf though to qualify it. In general, if it is shelved it will qualify because I can't read every book to make sure the 'cop/police' that is tagged isn't a detective. (Having a hard enough time making it through my own books!) So basically more of an honor system. Yours is good though because you have a major character who is a police officer. 👍

This one needs a qualifier - has to be tagged or in the précis. I did go through some of the shelves and found 'working class' on page 20 - that is probably the best option though I did find a few others that would be acceptable. Being historical does make it harder to find a tag, but this one works once you change it. 😊

I'm going to say yes to this, just find something in the précis or tags to qualify it.

Got it. Thanks, MKat. I'll get on correcting both posts tomorrow. I appreciate all the time you (and the team leaders) put into the challenges :o)
Karen, no worries. I've led another challenge and it can be difficult....and this one is brand new. This week was just a bit tricky for me for some reason. I don't know why I struggled so hard with the definition of labor {shaking head at self}

Karen, did you like Ceremony in Death? I know there are like 50 gazillion of these books and you may not remember this one in particular. I kind of wanted to briefly discuss your thoughts on it...if you want to. Don't feel that you have to.
I'm happy to discuss, Chan, but don't know how much help I'll be. I remember the basics of the story, but not a lot of specifics. Like Stacie, I've read them all, and almost all at least twice, so things kind of run together! If you don't mind refreshing my memory with some specifics of what bothered you, that should jog my memory some...
Really??? even the latest one? Wow. This one is about Wicca. I struggled with the content, but more so with Eve's actions. She can be brutal in interrogations, but she was a complete jerk. I'm trying to justify her actions in my head so that I can continue the series, but I am really struggling here.
I think as time goes on, Peabody tends to balance her out and I don't find her as brutal as she once was. Part of what I like about the series is the way that Dallas has chilled while Peabody has hardened (a little) and Dallas has begun to realize people have feelings. That being said, they all seem pretty formulaic now and are usually solid three star reads. They're good, not great but I can't stop reading because Roarke and I'm 40+ books in lol
Those in our group who haven't read this, then don't read this post.(view spoiler)
LOL. I know this is fiction, but as Karen knows, I get really wrapped up in books.
Well, I don't specifically remember this one bothering me, but as I said, they all kind of run together. There have been times when I felt that Eve was out of line, but then as the series goes on she does grow a lot and become not really softer, but as Stacie said, at least more aware of other people's feelings and emotions. I hope this doesn't turn you away from the series Chan, because while Eve never loses that hard edge she needs, it's amazing to watch the emotional growth in her as the series continues. Other reasons too, but for this discussion that is the important point. As Stacie said, the books do eventually get to be somewhat formulaic for the most part, but even if the murder mystery portion of the book is just average, what saves the later books for me are the parts of the book that aren't related to the "case"...the interactions with all the secondary characters (and Roarke of course). Those are the parts that continue to change and for me never get old.
Oh, and no, I haven't read the most recent book yet. I started a reread of the series right before it came out, so now I'll wait until I get through the series to read it. There will probably be 2 more out before I get there, so I have some new ones to look forward to!
Thanks Stacie and Karen. I don't want Eve to lose her edge. I feed off of her brutal interrogations. I guess I just needed a bit of encouragement and to know that Eve's actions do not get worse in the series. This one bothered me and I couldn't shake it. I'll hop on the next one real soon. I can't wait to hear Roarke's Irish lilt.

sorry I've been MIA recently...in the past two weeks I've lost both my pets (one unexpectedly, one we helped pass)...I also live in the Midwest and have been dealing with a busted furnace and frozen pipes...just what every girl wants to contend with when it's -20 outside...ugg!anyhow, I just wanted to let you know that I'm still around and reading, just not as active.

Hey Kathy, I'm not sure but I don't think Kat is accepting lists as qualifiers...I know she did for one date, but I think that was an exception. Just in case, would you mind changing your first book post to state that it mentions in the précis that he's a mechanic? Thanks!

Ugh. It’s hard to remember what all is needed because I can’t copy and paste from my phone.I finished it 2/1/19 and rated it 5 stars.
Hey All. i will be out and about when the theme is called at 6. I should be able to complete a quick book to attempt the 'speed rose,' but i want to see if we have enough team members who are going to try too.

No worries, Morgan! It's hard enough to remember the basics of life when you're sick, much less what you need for a challenge on GR...and having to do it all on your phone just makes it worse! Get well soon!
Chan wrote: "Hey All. i will be out and about when the theme is called at 6. I'm kind of in the same position, but from a little different angle. I'll be home and able to listen, but busy preparing for company for the Super Bowl tomorrow so don't know if I'll have time to search for a short book for each category before then. I have books picked for each, but they're all long enough that I won't finish until possibly as late as tomorrow morning.

Eve is 'Lieutenant Dallas, Eve' as she says it LOL
I researched it before reading it and online it said that it would be considered blue collar, but captain and higher would be white collar because they rarely do fieldwork. HOWEVER, I will abide by the rules and find something else.
Thanks for letting me know.
