She knew his kiss-often dreamed about it. Not soft and sweet...not even lustful. It was dangerous. From day one, she'd tasted danger on his tongue, and it burned her hotter than she'd ever been.

It was a bittersweet feeling for me when I finished Total Surrender. As much as I was anticipating the ending for the series because I wanted answers, I also didn't want it to end. I'd grown addicted to Zanetti's protective alphas and needed more. I felt that she left just enough loose ends for a potential spin off at the end of that book and boy was I thrilled to see I was right. Deadly Silence is book one in the brand new romantic suspense spin-off from the author's Sin Brother's series. While readers don't necessarily need to read the Sin Brothers first, you would certainly enjoy it a lot more because of the interconnecting plot points and characters here if you read it.

Deadly Silence is the perfect mix of sizzling hot romance with action packed suspense. Ryker is everything I love in my alphas and more. He's broody, he's demanding, he's protective, and his past is clouded in dark shadows. Ryker and Zara have been involved in a casual relationship for months as this books starts. While there's no relationship building tension though, that's not to mean there isn't tension. Because boy is there!
Don’t tell me what to do,” she whispered, fighting need along with her temper.
“You like me telling you what to do.”
“Only in bed,” she burst out.
He smiled, the expression gentle and dangerous all at once. “Then get in bed.”

Ryker along with his brothers Heath and Denver are in town hunting an elusive serial killer. But when Ryker sees that Zara may also be in danger, he knows that he'll protect her with his dying breath, but he also wants a whole lot more from the woman.
Casual sex doesn’t work for me any longer.”
“There ain’t nothin’ casual about our sex, and you know it.”

Zara was an intriguing mix of vulnerability and strength. This is a woman that fights for what's right and I enjoyed watching her really come into her own as the book progressed.

I absolutely loved the crossover aspect between the Blood Brothers and Sin Brothers. I won't tell you what it was, but if you've read the other series, you'll definitely appreciate it.

The romance was expertly weaved into the suspense and action and it all flowed together effortlessly to guarantee one unputdownable read. I'm seriously hoping that Heath's book is next because I'm sensing a little tension between him and a certain FBI agent that I can't wait to get to the bottom off.

If you enjoy super sexy romantic suspense with protective alphas and heroines that handle their own just as well, then this is a series that you need to read.

4 Fantastic Spin-off Stars!!

First off, I’m a huge, HUGE fan of the Sin Brothers series, and I’m thrilled to say that it’s not over! Blood Brothers, Rebecca Zanetti’s new series, is a spinoff of the Sin Brothers and introduces a trio of brothers who are trying to survive while looking for answers to their past. Their upbringing is much different than the Dean Brothers but certainly not any better.

Ryker and his brothers find the lost. When the law firm that Zara works for hires their services. Zara and Ryker develop a physical relationship, all the while Ryker keeps his past and secrets close. Ryker and Zara are trying to understand where they stand when Ryker’s past comes back to threaten them.

Deadly Silence by RZ photo PicsArt_1472881793169_zpsnehebboa.jpg

There are some twists in the story and some happy surprises, I don’t want to spoil it for you, but, you’ll be super excited to be introduced to one young man who enters the storyline. This book had a lot going on, the new cast brothers (Ryker, Denver, & Heath) have their own agenda, enemies, missions and battles to fight but they are not alone! We get to catch up with the Dean brothers along with the whole Dean clan!

Rebecca Zanetti does not disappoint! As with the Sin Bros Series there is no cliffhanger but there is unfinished business which will be continued in the next books in the series….not sure if we’ll get Denver or Heath, but, either way I CANNOT WAIT!!!

Rebecca Zanetti excels at delivering up a romantic suspense story-line, especially when built around a series, and including recurring characters in each book, and her new Blood Brothers series delivered on every expectation that I have of her in this regard.

Although an off-shoot from the previously published Sin Brothers series, Deadly Silence can absolutely be read as a standalone. There is character crossover from that series to this, but for me that just made it all the more special in its reading… Ahem, Dean Brothers anyone ;)

Life, not genetics, had made them family…

Ryker Jones and his brothers Heath and Denver have set up base in Cisco, Wyoming, after spending many years on the move. Investigators of a sort, they specialise in finding those that are lost. Each brother has his own particular skill set, Ryker being the muscle, if you will, although as the book progresses you quickly find out that none of them are what you would call shabby in their efforts at fighting the bad guys, it’s just that Heath is more their public face, and Denver with little interest in talking, their behind the scenes tech guy. But together they are an unbreakable team, family and most importantly for each of them for their own specific reasons brothers.

Zara and Ryker are together at the start of the book, so there is no relationship building as such, but what began as Ryker, rolling in for some fun between the sheets with her whenever his is in town has developed into a little more for Zara as the months have passed. Things are a little up in the air between them though, as now that he is based in town Zara isn’t too sure whether she wants to move their causal relationship onto a more firmer footing.

"You scare me"

"I’d never hurt you…"

"You’d never mean to hurt me… But you’re all or nothing. Pure trust or none at all…"

Ryker in typical Zanetti fashion, goes all Alpha on her, and pretty much takes that decision from her hands. Especially when it turns out she is in the cross hairs, and Ryker isn’t certain who it is that is after her, his has enemies, and Zara is not lacking in that area either due to the nature of the work she is doing.

"You want everything…"

"I’ll get it too."

If you have read anything by this author before, you know you are in for a deliciously dirty alpha male, they usually aren’t shy at handing out the odd spanking if they feel it is due, and sex is often used as a way of pulling the sassy female into line. I don’t mind this, it’s what I expect from the authors heroes, and Ryker Jones is the epitome of all that is good about the men she writes.

The story-line keeps you on your toes, with new villains coming to the fore, and a few lose ends from the Sin Brothers series reprising their roles with aplomb. You get enough information on Heath and Denver to know that their books will offer up more Alpha goodness, but their tastes look like they run in different directions to their brothers.

The safest place for her was with him, yet it was also the most dangerous to her heart.

This doesn’t end on a cliffy per se, it’s left more in the, 'no shit needs to be blown up right now' category. This is a series, so you know everything isn’t likely to be resolved in the first book. But the scene has been well and truly set, the players have made themselves known (well most of them have anyway) and the stage is ready for the rest of the Acts to play out, as the author releases further books. Lethal Lies is due for release in April 2017, and I look forward to reading it.

The boys are back in town! Fans of the previous series, Sin Brothers, are gonna drop everything the day this hits the stands. It was a one sit read-a-thon for me. It was everything an action adventure romance lover could want.

This is truly where Zanetti shines as an author. I’m not sure if it’s just this particular series/plot/storyline, but she creates solid gold in this realm. From the moment we met Ryker Jones, he exudes everything you want in an action-adventure mystery series. He’s a smart, capable guy with heart and a moral compass that will always be front and center – especially when it comes to keeping himself and his brothers safe.

Zara Remington: a paralegal with a sense of what’s right in a corrupt world and knows what she needs to do to help a friend. But she’s now greatly taken aback by the recent turn of events where it comes to Ryker. It was agreed. Just for fun. No strings. Scratching an itch. But now things are different. After she’s been hurt trying to help out a friend, their relationship has changed in more ways than ever expected.

An ongoing mystery, personal issues, work related cases, and interpersonal drama all combine to make one hell of a captivating read. As I said earlier, be prepared for a READ-A-THON. Once you start, stopping will be an issue.

It’s also funny and loving in unexpected ways. Character cameos will thrill fans of the previous series and the outlying stories to come from the other “Lost Bastards” had me ecstatic for what’s to come!

In Deadly Silence Rebecca Zanetti delivers a gripping tale full of twists and intrigue. Ryker and Zara have a sex-only arrangement, which means no feelings, no dates, and no future. But when Zara's life gets put in danger Ryker can't stop his protective instincts that take over. His own life is a mess and people are still after him from his past, but he's not willing to leave Zara behind. Not they're both running from known and unknown enemies and they realize their feelings are far from just about sex.

This book kept me on the edge of my seat and wouldn't let me put it down until the very last page. I haven't read anything from this author in a super long time, pre-Goodreads days actually, but once I started this book I remembered how much I liked her writing. She has the ability to write a story that will suck you in and make you question everything. When you think you know what's actually going on, trust me, you don't. I loved that I had so many theories as to what was going to happen and the answers weren't always predictable.

Ryker was just amazing, he had the whole Alpha possessive bad boy thing going on that was swoon worthy. I loved how protective he became over Zara and how he wasn't willing to give her up. But with that being said I also loved that fact that Zara didn't just back down and let him fight her battles for her. She had a good amount of back bone and I loved seeing these two go head to head.

As much as I enjoyed this story I did have a few problems in the beginning and it made the story a little slow for me. Maybe because I hadn't read the previous series that this is a spin-off of, but I had moments that I felt like I was supposed to know these characters more than I did. It started off with Ryker and Zara already knowing each other and it kind of threw me off. But there was actually a little extra part in the back of the book from before the events in the first chapter and that kind of made up for it.

Overall, if you're looking for a romantic suspense full of shocking turns and sexy Alpha heroes, look no further this is the book for you. Ryker will have you swooning and the suspense will have you gasping.

I received this book for free in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.

When Zara's law firm hired The Lost Bastards Investigative Agency, she had no idea the path her life was about to take. Ryker knows it’s extremely dangerous to get close to anyone but Zara reaches a place inside of him he didn't know could exist. As Zara works to help her friend going through a divorce and Ryker is trying to find a serial killer, a new danger involving Ryker's past starts to creep closer. More questions are being asked than there are answers and Zara and Ryker are going to have to decide if they're safer together or apart.

Just who in the hell was Ryker Jones?

A spin-off of the Sin Brothers series, Deadly Silence starts us off with a new set of heroes in Blood Brothers. I have not read any books from the Sin Brothers series (you can guarantee I will be rectifying that) and I wouldn't say it would be a requirement to have done so to start this series. If you have read books from Sin you would have prior knowledge of what the origins of Ryker and his brothers Heath and Denver are but as a newbie, the author did a great job of delaying the knowledge to create mystery and suspense but giving the reader enough at the right times to keep from feeling lost. Now, this book on its own, let me restate the immortal words of Samuel L. Jackson in Jurassic Park, "Hold on to your butts." There is some mad story happening here.

From day one, she'd tasted danger on his tongue, and it burned her hotter than she'd ever been.

The three main story threads were the continuing hunt for a serial killer, Zara's friend going through a divorce, and the three brother's past coming back to haunt them; there is so much happening but for the most part, the author pulls it off. Zara's friend, the divorce, the danger, and the murder mystery that stems from that was probably the weakest and the one I would have shortened way down to streamline. It initially works to get our couple together but the murder mystery fell somewhat flat without room or time to flush out the secondary characters involved with it. I think what kept all the storylines from feeling overwhelming was the author's great use of Heath and Denver, Ryker's brothers. The serial killer plot is the most on the peripheral and Heath mainly deals with that one while the brother's past and origins, with the added character of Greg, starts off smaller with Denver mainly dealing with it until it slowly gains momentum (second half of book) and becomes the main focus by the end with everyone involved. This delegating of story threads kept secondary characters involved while organizing all the plot points.

"You want everything," she countered, trying to make sense of the rioting feelings inside her.
He grinned then, his eyes remaining sober. "I'll get it, too."

With all those story plots happening, our main couple's romance did suffer a bit. We're started off with Zara and Ryker already having a sexual relationship, even though they both started it with the expectations of keeping it casual, so I missed seeing and feeling the building of attraction. I did have some problems connecting with Ryker as he came off a little stiff and distant. I get with his background why he might come off that way to Zara but as the reader, I want to feel more of him in order to care and connect. There was also a little bit of wooden alpha to him at times with his "must protect you" regarding Zara repeating over and over. Zara was a solid heroine with small amounts of little lost girl and then a tad bit fantastical butt-kicking heroine antics towards the end. I would have liked more emotional moments from the two regarding them coming together; again, it's all about the journey for me. If steamy hot bedroom scenes are your thing, you won't be disappointed; Zara and Ryker bring the heat. No complaints there.

"Trust me like I trust you."

Even with so much going on I thought the author nailed the pacing and tone, there were some repetitive scenes/lines but overall, you won't want to put the book down. The romance takes somewhat of a hit but the comprehensive story makes up for it with its intriguing story plots and wide cast of characters. This doesn't end on a strict cliffhanger but if you read this, you're signing up for a shady genetics military program, a hunt for a serial killer, and following along with a trio of brothers who are trying to make sense of it all while trying not to fall in love. I'm on the bandwagon and can't wait to read the next in the series starring Heath.

Rebecca Zanetti did it again. This was all that and more. If you want excellent writing, you've got it! If you want action, you've got it. If you want sexy love, you've got it. If you want a suspenseful mystery, you've got it.

Ryker Jones and his brothers, Heath and Denver run an investigative agency called The Lost Bastards and they were hired to flush out a serial killer who was targeting red heads. They are running from a very dangerous past and so they don't even use their real names. While on assignment, Ryker meets the paralegal Zara Remington and sparks flew, Ryker and Zara begin a no-strings attached but monogamous relationship. When Zara becomes a target, Ryker has to re-evaluate what she means to him. With the elusive serial killer still hunting women, can Ryker protect Zara without being fully honest about who he is?

I just loved this book. I loved the plot/writing and awesome narration by Karen White. Zanetti always gives fascinating characters. Here, the heroine Zara was another compelling one. She was bravery, smart and had a big heart. I love strong heroines and she was more than a match for Ryker. I think she definitely inherited all of that from her grandmother. Ryker Jones was a typical Zanetti hero. Alpha male, who is a protector and fiercely loyal to his loved ones. He is possessive, strong, intelligent, mysterious and just so sexy.

There was a lot going on in this book. There is a serial killer. There are three brothers who are hiding from a past and that past is catching up with them. Zara works for a law firm that represents unsavory people and thanks to a new case, Zara has gotten in the middle of some unpleasant people. Then throw in Ryker's situation where Ryker and his two brothers were being blackmailed and there just bad guys all around. Yet it is obvious all these single threads had a connection, it just a matter of connecting the dots.

I know many people say you don't have to read Sin Brothers, but I strongly urge you to read that series first. After all, you'd have to know Dr. Madison and the Commander and the Grey Brothers to truly appreciate the tie-in with this series. Greg and his subplot also would make more sense with the background from that series.
This book was such an exhilarating ride and I couldn't put it down. I loved the characters, the story and I am ecstatic for where this series is going. I can't wait for book 2 and the introduction of more "brothers".

I was hoping for a spinoff after I finished the last book in the Sin Brothers series as there were some loose threads remaining to be pulled. This was a good start and I was happy to see some character crossover.

The story begins with Zara Remington and Ryker Jones already in a "casual" relationship. She's a paralegal and he's a private investigator who does work for her firm and travels almost constantly. Things start to shift when she gets embroiled in her friend's divorce and Ryker goes all Alpha male when she gets hurt.

Ryker also has two brothers who work with him and the three bonded when they first met at a boys home in their youth (sound familiar?). They're hiding a big secret about their past that they have to confront when an unusual client asks for help in finding someone. And, all three are trying to find a serial killer who targets red headed women.

There's a lot going on in this story and I'm a fan of multiple plot lines. However, the serial killer aspect took a backseat to Zara's issues and the brothers' search on behalf of their client. It's a strong start to the series and it has a continuing story arc so not all things are wrapped by the end of the book. I think you'll enhance your reading experience by reading the other series first, though as there are important elements that serve as a foundation. However, if you don't, you won't be lost. And, I listened to the last book in the first series and regretted that I hadn't switched earlier. Karen White continues as narrator here, bringing a familiarity that I found essential. Bring on the next book! 3.5 stars

Phenomenal romantic suspense!

Three “blood brothers” who forged their connection in the bowls of a difficult system join together to make “The Lost Bastards Investigation Agency”. They track down the lost. When Ryker is hired to work for the law office Zara Remington works for they begin a very steamy friends with benefits relationship…well its more benefits with benefits but you get the point.

Zara finds herself looking forward to Ryker showing up at her door step and starts accidental taking their relationship to the next level. I say accidentally because Zara doesn’t realize the home cooked meals, her dressing up and giving Ryker a home life he never had. So, when Zara is threatened Ryker turns even more uber alpha and takes control to keep her safe.

There is a lot going on in Deadly Silence, twist and turns as well as subplots keep this story hopping.

Even though I haven’t read the Sin Brothers series, to which this is a spin off, I was still able to follow the storyline rather easily.

Got to say, Deadly Silence just worked for me. I highly enjoyed the action, mystery, suspense and romance and I look forward to spending more time with the The Lost Bastards and the woman that capture their hearts.

Hair-raisingly thrilling and sexy. Another gripping story by Rebecca Zanetti!
“She’s in me, Devner.” He hit his chest with a closed fist… “In here. I don’t want days without her in them.”

Ryker Jones has made it his life’s mission to protect the one’s he cares about, so losing control is something he can’t afford. foNot if the PI agency he runs with his brothers has lost a client, not with the sexy and assertive woman he’d been trying to keep things casual with but who has been slowly inching her way into his heart and especially not when someone is out to get her. Can he find a way keep everyone safe?
“You’re far more dangerous than I could ever be. Sexy and smart… and so damn sweet you kill me sometimes.”

Zara Remington knows next to nothing about the sexy, dark and secretive man she’s been seeing, but there’s something irresistibly appealing about him she can’t resist. And now that helping her friend has her under police scrutiny, Ryker is only one who can help. Can she be strong enough for them to survive when secrets are revealed and they’re assaulted on all fronts?

Love and hate, life and death, thrills and chills, Rebecca Zanetti is an expert at stirring a wide range of emotions in her books, Deadly Silence is no exception. A spinoff of the incredible Sin Brothers series, this first book in the Blood Brothers set introduces us to three men whose bond goes beyond blood, suffering together through beatings and mistreatments at the boy’s home they lived in and being subjected to odd tests and military style training, Ryker, Heath and Denver form their own little family, vowing to protect each other.

While the three of them continue to look for answer from their past, they decide to settle in Cisco in order to catch a serial killer. Ryker takes advantage of this to try to go beyond the casual limits he and Zara had originally establish because he just can’t get enough of the feisty woman who wears sexy underwear and bakes just for him. But he’s unwilling to share his past with her and even though she’s undoubtedly attracted to him and his alpha dominant ways, she’s reluctant to take a risk on a man who’ll most probably break her heart.
“My way, baby. Right here and right now? My way only. Talk.”
“We are going to have a huge-assed fight.”

As the plot unfolds, Ryker and Zara’s relationship evolves from sizzling lust to deep trust and delicious romance a mist exciting action, suspense and a whole lot of twists are revealed as new and old characters are expertly introduced. I’m not going to spoil you, but it is a spinoff for a reason so watch out for your favorite characters from past books!

Ryker and Zara were as great together as they were on their own. He’s a decidedly alpha male who’s loyal to a fault and is used to taking on the responsibility of the people he loves. He’s rough around the edges but has an incredibly big, protective and loving heart. Zara is his perfect complement, she’s sweet, caring, stubborn and brave enough to stand up to him. I just loved it when the two of them went head to head.
“A woman like Zara only submitted with true trust, and suddenly, he wanted that trust more than his next breath.”

Deadly Silence is book #1 in the Blood Brothers series by Rebecca Zanetti who writes consistently fascinating, nonstop action and smoldering romances. It’s a fast paced, exciting standalone you won’t want to miss. Told from several points of view, with a happy ending but still lots to resolve.

Zara’s grandmother has raised her from age ten. Her father left Zara and her mother and then her mother died in an accident. Her mother constantly fell for the wrong guy and that made Zara don’t trust easily in relationships because she thinks maybe her instincts are as bad as her mother. She is a paralegal and her law firm hired Ryker as a private investigator on a case (he is a private detective who specialized in finding the hard to find). So they met each other on a case and then after one night drunk they became friends with benefits. But Ryker wants more just like Zara and Zara’s problem is she wants a stable home but she thinks Ryker isn’t the good choice for her.

Ryker and his friends are different. They have high IQs and super hearing. They can read a lie on people... And they had a very tough childhood. But that childhood made them man and Blood Brother. They did something in their past and since then they are running away. But their past follows them too. Zara has her issues as well, her best friend is killed and guess who is the main suspect!?! Yes, Zara! If Ryker’s story didn’t intrigue me, Zara’s suspect was another story that I enjoyed and it was quite unpredictable for me!

Okay, I was really, really excited to read this book. You know, that name, that cover… but it wasn’t what I expected. It wasn’t awful but it wasn’t great either. My most problem was with Ryker. I couldn’t connect with him; I couldn’t feel his love for Zara. And my other issue was with its writing, it wasn’t compelling! But I definitely continue reading this series because beside MCs, it has some second characters picked my curiosity, especially Denver. So yeah, I’ll continue reading! The story is told in multiple POV, 3rd person. It was a little slow for my taste. Hope you enjoy it more than me!

Gritty. Raw. Sexy. Suspenseful. These are few words that immediately pops into mind when describing Rebecca Zanetti’s newest romantic suspense Deadly Silence. Zanetti masterfully weaves suspense in such a gritty and intense fashion that readers like myself are thrown into a gauntlet of thrills, unexpected surprises and an unraveling of secrets. This book definitely kept me glued to my kindle as I was immersed into the lives of Ryker and his blood brothers, Heath and Denver. Not only did Zanetti present a story where you are left in wonder of the thrills and suspense, but she also sophisticatedly weaves a little romance into the mix. I did find the complexity of this story to be one of the most intriguing aspect of the story since there was so much unpeeling that Zanetti slowly revealed and in such left you riveted for more. I seriously can't wait for the next book.

Audiobook Re-read: Now that I have read the Sin Brothers series the end of this book was a whole lot more enjoyable for me. Karen White did a fantastic job with the narration which only made the whole experience more entertaining. I cannot wait to actually dive into the next book in just a few weeks!

This review can also be found at Carole's Random Life.

I liked this book. I do have to admit that it took me awhile to really get hooked by the story but once I was I really enjoyed it. I jumped at the chance to read this book since it is the start of a new series by an author that I have wanted to read for a long time. The story had a lot of great elements added to the appeal of the book.

I think that the main reason that I had some trouble getting into the story was because I just couldn't totally wrap my head around Ryker's behavior. I love an alpha male Hero as much as the next girl but he was a bit over the top. I really couldn't figure out why Zara would want to put up with him. As the book progressed and Ryker and Zara spent more time together their actions toward each other started to make more sense to me. In the end, I do think that their relationship worked very well.

Ryker was an great characters. He has had a difficult past and has dedicated himself to finding the lost along with his two blood brothers. He has some special abilities which make him very good at what he does. It has always just been him and his brothers with no other connections. He has been seeing Zara very casually. When he sees that she may be in trouble, he becomes very protective and realizes that maybe it wasn't really so casual after all.

Zara has also been through a lot as well. She has built a life that she is proud of working as a paralegal. She also tries very hard to help others and has sacrificed a lot to assist an old friend. She knows that things between her and Ryker have no chance of becoming anything more than physical so she takes what she can get. When she finds herself in trouble, she accepts Ryker's help but also makes a few brave moves herself.

I would recommend this book to fans of contemporary romance. This new series is a spin-off of the Sin Brothers series, which I still need to read. If you haven't read the earlier series, this is a great starting point since everything is explained very well. I can't wait to read the next Blood Brothers book!

I received an advance reader edition of this book from Forever (Grand Central Publishing) via NetGalley for the purpose of providing an honest review.

Took me a little while to get into this book. In the end, I did enjoy it.

I am so happy to have had the opportunity to read this book as I love this authors stories. It is in many ways a spin off from her Sin Brothers series so if you are a fan of those books than this will be a must read. That being said I do think this works as a standalone as there's enough background information revealed here.
So our story features three guys united by their past and now acting as investigators. These 'blood' brothers have stayed together through thick and thin but always on the run keeping one step ahead of those who search for them. It's not easy keeping a low profile whilst trying to help others but somehow using a little stealth and a lot of ingenuity they've managed it so what is Ryker thinking as he gets more and more involved in Zara's life? Sure she's cute, playful and pushes all Rykers buttons but Zara is also a woman keeping secrets and they are about to cause all manner of trouble . Two people falling hard and yet not being quite honest with each other is surely a recipe for disaster!
This author seems to delight in giving her readers big alpha males so if you don't enjoy a guy who likes taking control ( it's fantasy so why not?) then Ryker might not be your newest book boyfriend! If honest I would have preferred to see the couple meet and gel but alas we are thrown straight into their with benefits relationship that just is anything but casual. Expect lots of heat in this story but there are also subplots in play although at times I wasn't quite sure which way the author would go.
The main characters all have sad back stories so if you enjoy a tortured hero or even heroine then this fits the bill. It is very reminiscent of the previous Sin Brothers books but I quite liked that as I personally enjoyed those stories. I mentioned subplots and as well as Zara's complicated problem which completely blindsided me, there's the origins of Ryker and his 'brothers' and even a serial killer at large! Yes it's fair to say the author has thrown a lot into this book but as its the beginning of the next chapter so to speak I think she's hit the ground running at a fast and furious pace!

Random mutterings about a few hours of my life wasted...

Park your brain at the door for Deadly Silence. You won't need it. This is a takeoff on the “Sin Brothers” series, and has a virtually identical premise and plotline (Can an author plagiarize themselves)? The story took a definite backseat to the sexscapades, unfortunately. I know a lot of readers are going to eat the macho, protective, dominant, chest beating male up, but I didn't. Zara’s character was smothered under Ryker’s dominance, both in and out of bed. Any good that came out of the suspense plot (which had definite possibilities) was completely undone by the cheesy lines, stereotyped caricatures of characters, and cliché piled on cliché. The cops and bad guys especially came straight out of stock casting. Some of the various subplots were poorly drawn, and didn't mesh well.

My attention perked up once, when Tara was arrested; but that thread fizzled out quickly with a huge stereotyped trope. The sexual asides tossed out were there strictly to titillate the reader, and did nothing to further the plot. If Zanetti spent as much time on the suspense and mystery as she does on detailing the inopportune sex scenes, her stories would show a vast improvement, imo. The ending was patently ridiculous…sperm salad, really? The last few chapters slid down into a jumbled, absurd mess.

My reading record with this author is so inconsistent. There has only been one of her series that I have taken any interest in keeping up with (Scorpius Syndrome); and this will not be the second one for me.

4.5 Stars for more Dean Siblings!

**ARC Generously provided via NetGalley**

Rebecca Zanetti’s Sins Brother Series is one of my favorite military/sci-fi type series. It was romance and suspense at its best and with Deadly Silence comes even more of those biologically created men and all their sexy skills.

While Deadly Silence is a new start to a new series, it does spin-off from the already established Sins Brothers. This story of Ryker Jones is a standalone, but there are characters and storylines crossing in and out of the tale. For me, this was just icing on the cake of a fabulous action packed story. Any time the Dean Brothers are present life gets hot and exciting.

Welcome Ryker Jones…dark, strong, and a bit mysterious. He comes in and out of town with no explanation. He along with his “brothers” Heath and Denver are always looking for something or someone. Together they help find the lost and perhaps along the way, try to find pieces of their past, as dark as it was. Ryker and his extraordinary way of reading people is just one of the many turn-ons that has Zara Remington always leaving the light on for him.

In a small mid-western town in Wyoming, Zara works as a paralegal and does her best to stay on the straight and narrow path. Her only walk on the wild side is the occasional tussle between the sheets with a strong, alpha dominant Ryker. She has no expectations as to where this occasional tussle is going, but when her good deeds put her in a line of fire, something fierce builds inside Ryker. He no longer sees Zara as a passing comfort. Now he starts to see her with one word…MINE. But with an active serial killer on the loose, his tumultuous past closing in, Zara the prime suspect in a murder case, and a strange 12 year old with clues to his past, Ryker may just have his hands full. Can he really have Zara forever? How long can he run before his past catches up to him? To his brothers?

I think my favorite thing about this author is her ability to make her men truly delish yet totally flawed. Ryker, while perhaps biologically engineered, is a hot mess of emotions. He is pure man with his take charge ways both in and out the bedroom. He has that “darlin’ and baby” swagger and the best protective bravado, yet he would like nothing more than to cut out of town or get lost in the bottom of a bottle. He is full of hidden pain and struggles to keep his anger at bay coming off as arrogant and brash. This author also does as fabulous job of creating her females as equals. While Zara may be a small town girl, she is brave and she has backbone like no other. Not many a woman could tame the wild heart of the strong Ryker Jones, but Zara has a sweet strength to her that just grounds him.

With so much suspense and carry-over from previous books, I was so excited with each new additional character and the twisting plots that promised more. While Zara and Ryker may have survived to life another day together here, it will not be an easy road. I was happy for a peaceful conclusion even though it was open ended with the promise of more. There is an eerie feel that the big bad is coming. Biology may have made these men, but their bond has made them family…brothers. With the Dean Brothers full support, Ryker and Zara along with Heath and Denver have a wild ride in store for them.

I was so excited when I learned of this spin off to the Sin Brothers series. Those Dean brothers are easy to love and to then find out there was another bunch of brothers, this made me on happy girl!

Here we have Ryker (just the name alone does something to me) and his brothers - Heath and Denver, running from their past while they strive to help others and also find out more about who they are.

Running their own private investigative services, they help people find missing people and other similar type cases. Ryker meets Zara when her law firm hires him and the two become friends with benefits. It's when Zara comes into trouble that Ryker realizes he wants more and at the same time, his past comes a little too close for comfort.

This story is full of tension, a few twists and lots of action. And not to mention, the cameo of the Dean brother's was the cherry on top of it all!

You don't have to have read the Sin Brothers to read this series although I'd suggest that you do. Either before or after this series, it's worth the read. I'm looking forward to the next book in this series.

If there's one thing Rebecca Zanetti does and does well, it's bring her reader a sexy romance with a good dose of suspense and action that pulls you in and keeps you on your toes throughout. And that's very much the case with the opener to her Blood Brothers series: a spin-off from her Sin Brothers series, Deadly Silence introduces us to Ryker, Heath and Denver, three brothers who are trying to discover their pasts whilst running an investigative agency.

"...the past has always been coming for us. Now maybe we have a chance to get there first."

I have a love-hate relationship with Zanetti's books. The suspense and action elements of the storyline, as I say, pull you right in, the sex is scorching and the connections she creates between her characters are tight, bringing everything from humourous banter to heart wrenching emotion. What frustrates me is with the way she insists in taking intelligent, vocal, tough, independent women and letting them be controlled by the hero; dominance is sexy, controlling is not. And whilst this was the case with Ryker and Zara for the first half of the book, she redeemed herself by letting Zara find herself again whilst giving Ryker a heart and a softer side as the story progressed.

description

This is a series that has real promise and Zanetti has done an exceptional job in weaving the threads of the story to take her reader in unexpected directions. Familiar faces from the Sin Brothers make an appearance, there's no shortage of bad guys and action, it's fast-paced, intense and, irrespective of how I felt about Ryker being an alpha-hole at the start, he and Zara do have a great chemistry; from the fight between them to their sexy interludes, they are a pretty perfect match.

"We’re going to have to work on this Neanderthal issue you have going on."

I can't wait to see how this story unfolds in Lethal Lies and whilst it's not necessary to have read the Sin Brothers series, for me having done so was definitely an advantage and added to the overall reading experience.

I used to read a lot of thrillers/romantic suspense books, but nowadays I only read those when I am in the mood for it. I was in the mood this time so picked up Deadly Silence because the blurb sounded interesting. It started out really strong and I loved the whole mysterious vibe around Ryker (LOVE his name). He definitely was a very alpha male who wanted everything to go his way, no questions asked. I was glad Zara was not a push over and told Ryker off when he got a bit too protective and secretive. There were a couple of plot lines in this book which were really interesting, one of the story line will continue on to the next book. I enjoyed the first half more than the second half because it was getting a bit too confusing with the increase of characters. A couple of characters from Rebecca's other series made appearances in this book. Which added another layer to the back story of the characters from this series. I am looking forward to the upcoming book and I think I'll enjoy it a bit more than this one, because there are many things that are still not resolved. The story wasn't complete in my opinion.

I love to escape from reality with a brilliant, sexy romantic suspense book, and I can always count on Rebecca Zanetti to provide a perfect hideaway for me. I loved the Sin Brothers series and now she’s spun off Sin Brothers to bring us Blood Brothers and I am ALL IN.

We first meet Ryker Jones—dark, mysterious, sexy AF private investigator—as he and his blood brothers are desperately searching for a serial killer. They own and operate The Lost Bastards Investigative Agency and they have their fingers in many investigations—investigations that lead Ryker to meet Zara Remington, a paralegal from a local law firm. A woman Ryker can’t quite keep at arms-length to protect her from his demons.

Zara’s tried to keep Ryker in the “friends with benefits” section of her heart and her brain, but it’s not working. There’s just something about that man—and not just what he does to her body—that she can’t stay away from, especially once Ryker’s past comes calling.

Once I picked up Deadly Silence, I didn’t put it down until I read the very last word. I loved every twist and turn. Loved meeting Ryker, Heath and Denver—getting to know their very twisted past history. I loved how Ryker interacted with Zara, how his caring, loving side was exposed to more than just his brothers. Loved how Heath and Denver cautiously accepter Zara into Ryker’s life and theirs and their danger. I can’t wait for more of this series—wondering whose story is next: Denver’s or Heath’s, not that it matters because I just want more! ~ Missy, 4.5 stars

Meh. I really like Ryker. I’m a sucker for the rough badass only nice to his girl kinda guy. There’s a lot going on but I don’t feel like enough with the Copper Killer which seems to be more of a focus in the next books? Idk we’ll see how this series pans out.

This was FREAKING fantastic!

I’m a HUGE fan of the Sin Brothers series and even though I loved Total Surrender, the last book in the series, Jory’s book, I’m SUPER excited to say that it’s not over! Blood Brothers, Zanetti’s new series, is a spin off series to the Sin Brothers series and introduces a trio of brothers who are trying to survive while looking for answers.

Ryker and his brothers find the lost. When the law firm that Zara works for hires their services, Zara never expects to develop a relationship for Ryker. Yet, two months later, Ryker and Zara are still trying to understand where they stand when Ryker’s past comes back to haunt them.

Deadly Silence was freaking BRILLIANT!! *throws confetti*

Everything was amazing - the action, the suspense, the R-O-M-A-N-C-E, Ryker’s brothers, the Dean Brothers and some new and old characters! Zanetti is a GENIOUS! The brilliance of the plot will blow you away! There are some twists in the story and some HUGE surprises so be prepared! I’m not going to spoil anything but do you remember Chance, Wade and Kyle (the brothers that Piper and Jory rescue in Total Surrender)?! Well, we are not done with them yet!

The book had a lot going on and I do admit that I was a bit confused at one point but everything makes sense in the end. The blood brothers have their own missions and battles to fight but they are not alone! We get to catch up with the Dean brothers *Squee* and the whole family actually! Of course, despite all the action and missions in the book, Zara and Ryker remain the main focus and let me tell you, Zanetti does not disappoint!

Deadly Silence was perfect! Even though it is not a cliffhanger, the brothers do have unfinished business to take care of and I can’t wait for that! So, who’s next? Will it be Denver (and possible Noni?) or Heath?

Take a deep breath and prepare to have your emotions shredded as three blood brothers build a career out of finding “the lost,” in an effort to exorcise the monsters from their own heinous pasts. Ryker Jones has taken point as a hired PI for a legal firm, he finds Paralegal Zara Remington and a burning desire that she shares with this dark and mysterious man.

Someone has hacked their unhackable systems and shadows from their past loom large as they discover their young hacker’s story, but when the Lost Bastards Investigative Agency finds their own pasts may be catching up with them, all becomes fair in love and war and the rules of engagement go out the window.

Ryker has never known love, warmth or a sense of “home.” Zara is unaware that the little things she takes for granted are like dew drops of discovery for Ryker and his heart melts for this daring young woman who has risked everything for a friend in need.

Now the world is closing in on Ryker and his brothers and Zara may be caught in the crossfire. It is up to Ryker to keep her safe, whether she likes it or not.

Rebecca Zanetti’s DEADLY SILENCE is as emotionally jarring as it is passionate and filled with suspense on every page. Ms. Zanetti nailed this one dead on as she skillfully creates characters that are equal parts alpha and lonely little boys. The main characters seem to be caught in the vortex of trouble from all angles, with no way out. Run the gamut of emotions, feel the tension of the chase and the heat of passion and love in this fast-paced tale of twisted science and deep connections.

“The safest place for her was with him, yet it was also the most dangerous to her heart.”

A wild and exciting ride – 4 stars

A spin off to the sensational Sin Brothers series, this book is exciting, intriguing and suspenseful with wonderful characters, great action, and a feisty, sexy romance. It’s a wild ride from start to finish, and I loved it!

Ryker Jones and his ‘blood brothers’ have lived their lives on the run since they escaped a brutal boys’ home as teenagers. With unusual abilities, they put their skills to use finding missing people, while also searching for answers to their pasts – what happened to their families? Why were three boys with such amazing talents all placed together in the one house? And who was the mysterious woman who came to ‘study’ them?

They have put down roots for the first time in their lives – temporary only while they search for a serial killer - and they just happen to have ‘settled’ in the town where Zara Remington lives. Ryker and Zara met when he was employed as a P.I. by her firm. They formed a no-strings arrangement whenever Ryker was in town, but now months later, with Ryker in town on a more permanent basis, neither of them can deny what has been building between them.

But their lives are full of secrets – secrets which they are both reluctant to share in order to protect themselves, and each other. And while Zara is all about pushing Ryker away to protect heart, Ryker has no intention of going anywhere.

“Listen, Ryker. I’m giving you an easy out here. Take it,” she snapped.
“I don’t want out.”
Her head jerked. “Casual sex doesn’t work for me any longer.”
“There ain’t nothin’ casual about our sex, and you know it.”

Yes, there’s some push and pull, but the chemistry between these two is absolutely electric and I loved their interactions. And Ryker is such an alpha, there’s no way he’s going to allow Zara to keep him at arm’s length so it doesn’t get annoying at all. The romance is sexy and intense yet slow-developing, and I loved the interplay and protectiveness that these two shared.

“I’m not letting you run, and I’m certainly not letting you hide.”

“This is different, right?”…
His gaze darkened. “Yeah, baby. This is just you and me… It’s better than anything else in the world.”

They are slowly finding their way forward, figuring out what they want and what they mean to each other, and the intensity between them is only enhanced by the action and intrigue that is about to engulf them. Zara’s already got a lot going on, and Ryker’s life is all kinds of messed up. Add to that a mysterious client who shows up looking to hire the Jones boys, and a whole heap of complication and even more questions are about to overtake all of their lives.

It’s a complex and intense story with multiple plotlines running throughout, but it’s a wild ride! I thought the book took a little while to really hit its stride, but once everything is in motion there are lots of twists and turns and it’s all woven together so cleverly, and I was totally absorbed into the story wondering where it was going and how it was all going to work out.

Ryker and his brothers, Denver and Heath are absolutely fantastic. Each with their own demons, but fiercely loyal and protective of each other, I loved their dynamic - and the further additions to the group just add even more awesomeness. And there’s a wonderful tie-in with Dean boys all showing up to be a part of the action, and I LOVED seeing them again – as well as a couple of other surprises.

Speaking of the Dean boys - while it’s not necessary to have read the Sin Brothers books before reading this one, I would definitely recommend it. Those books have an in-depth storyline, and while this one does stand alone, I think it would be more enjoyable if you had the backstory. Plus, this book has MASSIVE spoilers for the Sin Brothers books, so if you’re planning on reading them at some stage – do it before starting this one. Start with Forgotten Sins.

I really enjoyed this book. Ryker and Zara’s story is finished off really nicely, but there is SO much more story to be told for these characters! I’m looking forward to reading more about Denver and Heath who both have a bit of a romantic set up already, and I can’t wait to see where this series is going to go next.

4 stars.

Deadly Silence is the first novel in the Blood Brothers series an intense romantic suspense featuring three brothers with special talents. We are not talking paranormal woo-woo but genetically engineered talents.

Zanetti introduces readers to Ryker, Denver, & Heath. Three men who bonded as children due to their circumstances and made themselves blood brothers. Ryker Jones and his brothers find the lost and own the Lost Bastards Investigative Agency.

Ryker met Zara Remington a paralegal while working a case for her law firm. The two began a no-strings attached relationship. When business brings Ryker to town, they hook up for a night of passion. The relationship has slowly evolved into uncharted territory but it is like a huge elephant in the room neither mentions. That is until Ryker finds a bruise on Zara’s check. Ryker is all alpha, and protects what he deems his. Poor Zara she wants uncomplicated as she juggles the complications in her life..but Ryker is having non of that. Bwahaha.

As Ryker tries to decide what kind of trouble Zara is in, he and his brothers get an unusually case that has ties to their own past. The tale that unfolds brings us twists, climactic action scenes and plenty of surprises that will keep you flipping the pages. The Lost Bastards client is someone ya’ll are going to love. I wanted to hug them and kiss them even as their back-story made me mad at the storyline villains. This character stole every scene and I loved it.

Zanetti managed to give the story balance despite the multiple threads. Some threads wrapped up and others were left unanswered as part of the overall series ARC. She did so while introducing us to these brothers and deliver a hot, smexy romance filled with heat and heart. The romance had a little push and pull as these two dealt with Ryker's need to protect and Zara's fears of commitment but their feelings were genuine. I liked the back and forth banter between them. Zara was a surprising kick-ass.

If you have read the Sin Brothers you are familiar with what makes these brothers different, but Zanetti gave them their own unique story, and these boys are very special. Despite not having read the previous series, I was not at all lost. Drooling to begin Sin Brothers, yes but lost nope. Characters from the series Sin Brothers appear and I think fans will enjoy the bit of crossover. It isn't necessary to have read the books but trust me you'll want to.

I was super sad to say goodbye to the dean brothers.

I did not want the Sin Brothers series to end, but a dear GR friend told me that the theme continues with the Blood Brothers series.

I was over the moon with excitement. Sadly, this story didn’t quite do it for me. I became really invested once the Dean Brothers showed up. You would have thought I was having a reunion with real people. I actually became a bit misty.

The story started out very interesting. I was all into finding out how these new characters fit with the Gray eyed brothers. Zara and Ryker had a great start to the relationship. The story was very interesting in the beginning, but then it became boring. Then Greg shows up and it get’s good, but slowly it becomes boring again. Then the Dean Brothers show up and it gets real good.

I don’t know if it’s the pacing of the story, but something was off and I didn’t enjoy it as much. I’m hoping to enjoy book 2 more.

This is a well-written, entertaining, steamy, romantic suspense novel. It has likable, engaging characters, a strong female protagonist, a hot hero, intrigue, action, and Ms. Zanetti's classic wit and humor. This is the first entry in the Blood Brothers series, and it is a continuation of the Sin Brother series. It can be enjoyed without reading the Sin Brothers series first. I am looking forward to reading both the Sin Brothers series and the other entries in the Blood Brothers series with great anticipation.

Related to the Sin Brothers Series and they each have a mystery to solve independent of the overarching search for the mad scientist who created their genetic mixture of enhanced senses, phenomenal strength, and drop-dead gorgeous male specimens. I wasn't impressed with Karen White, the narrator of this book. I felt she put a lot of angst and melodrama in a plot that should have felt more suspense. Though I do have to admit that the hero and heroine were at odds for a great deal of the time. There are several plots going on and only one has a clear resolution. The mad scientist plot carried over from the Sin Brothers Series and is not resolved here. Neither is the serial killer plot. After a lot of sex and angst the story ends with a bang of a finish.

Ryker Jones and his two blood brothers were raised in a nasty foster home and started a private investigation firm to try and find their families. Not much luck on that front. but finding other lost persons has worked well for them. Now they are trying to find a serial killer who murdered one of the lost souls they were looking for. Getting involved is not Ryker's style, but something about Zara has gotten him all twisted up, but getting involved is something he just can't avoid, especially when she becomes wrapped up in a murder case.

Zara Remington has had it tough, and she doesn't let many people into her life. When her "friends with benefits" relationship with Ryker takes a serious turn, she is prepared to cut ties and leave him in her past. But Ryker refuses to be cut loose and forget about leaving him in the dust. And, it turns out, Ryker is just what Zara needs to stay alive and solve the murder of her best friend. 3 1/2-Stars
