Task # 15.6 - My Personal Hero
Read a NONFICTION biography or autobiography of someone who you consider to be a hero
So Many Enemies, So Little Time: An American Woman in All the Wrong Places by Elinor Burkett
Nonfiction(14 users), Autobiography>Memoir(8 users)
The author, a journalist, spent a year as a Fulbright Professor teaching a course in Journalism to University students in Kyrgyzstan after the USSR had been abolished. Even though other professors at the university urged and then demanded that she give passing grades to students that did not meet her standards. (Their idea of journalism was to repeat the party line).
That takes integrity and guts two qualities of a hero.
