Rayne (raynebair) | 481 comments for a book set in summer in Australia...can the story span over other seasons as well, as long as we see some part of it in summer? Or does the whole story need to be only in summer season?

message 155: by Cathy M. (new)

Cathy M. (mccathy77) | 5976 comments For Cocktail, it is only 2 books required for the 10 point tasks right? Just want to be sure because it lists 3 on my spreadsheet.

It should be set in summer. So maybe a prologue or epilogue in a different season, but the vast majority of the book is summer

No problem, thank you Karen!

message 159: by Tati (new)

Tati | 1350 comments Sorry if this has been asked before but:

1. For the bonus task, is Sea considered to be a summer word?
2. for task 35 (character's name is also a word), would the last name work?

If it fits any of the tasks; then yes.

Vicky (librovert) | 3137 comments I was doing some playing with my spreadsheet (I'm sorry! I can't help it!) and the formulas in the points column of my December sheet got mixed up. The formula just needs to be dragged up but I don't have the permissions to do it. :x

message 164: by Rayne (new)

Rayne (raynebair) | 481 comments On the tab where we assign tasks to books (first tab). when I type in a book title, it's blue and underlined. But it's not an actual link.

Do you want us to create an actual link to the GR page for the books?

message 165: by Rayne (new)

Rayne (raynebair) | 481 comments I think I seriously underestimated how many books I read in a month. Is there any way for me to change my category? Or do I just keep reading now that we've started? I don't think it's going to be a cusp thing either. I have a feeling I will land smack in the middle of the next category.

Poolside is where I need to be. Looking over the last 6 months, I'm much closer to the cusp between Poolside and Cocktail. I guess I just never really paid close enough attention to my totals before.

Roger - president of NBR United - (roger_presidentofnbrunited) | 612 comments Looks Like I will need to be in Cocktails instead of poolside.

message 172: by Deanna (new)

Deanna | 3529 comments It seems I'm in the mood to binge on shorter books after focusing on those in the 400+ page range for wheel, so I should move up to Holiday level instead of Cocktail.

Yeah, you need to have a scene in the book, not just someone talking about it.

Teehee thanks Tati

Looks like Keli’s sheet has an extra column added in so the points aren’t picking up and that then affects the rankings as it causes a formula error in my master sheet. I can’t delete her extra column (column B) on her sheet from my phone, but maybe if Tea is online she can do it 😉 Otherwise I’ll fix it when next on a computer - in a few hours

message 186: by ❀Tea❀ (last edited Dec 14, 2018 11:14AM) (new)

❀Tea❀ (ttea) | 9624 comments it's not column B problem. One of the lines has error in points so that gives a errors in ranking.
I'll try to figure out what's the problem, but can't promise I'll fix it :P

Never mind. I didn't read your whole post. *bows head in shame*

Fixed :)
There was also error in formula in master sheet - there were letters after formula that picks up the points

message 188: by Nicole (new)

Nicole P | 1834 comments Hey Karen,

Not sure if it is important but on my spreadsheet the column where it is tallying if I read the required number of books for my category is not calculating the 20 points one as I've read 3 books. I think the formula is wonky and needs to be changed to 20 instead of 200.

Will post a picture later if I get a chance

A mod can say more but on Tineye it is less than 25% yellow so I would guess no

I'm not sure why it won't let you copy & paste, so I've linked them in column E of the "December Tasks" tab of the master sheet
:)

You'll need to post the cover you are reading for anyone to really make a call.

Something like
A Red Herring Without Mustard (Flavia de Luce, #3) by Alan Bradley or Mr. Penumbra's 24-Hour Bookstore (Mr. Penumbra's 24-Hour Bookstore, #1) by Robin Sloan are good ones for that goal

I found
The Hunting Party by Lucy Foley and Summerland by Hannu Rajaniemi (might be marginal?)
plus there are a load of Gollanz sci-fi classics with yellow covers
