Sheila Majczan (sheilalmajczan) | 769 comments Wow, you have a lot on your plate. What energy! Good for you. I will look forward to reading those. We don't live too far from the DuPont estates, museum, Longwood Gardens, etc. and their wealth all came from explosives.

One of the perks of having ADHD is an endless amount of energy ;) I do not consider having ADHD as a problem that needs to be fixed but a superpower that I have learned to utilize.

Anji | 735 comments Just trying to have a bit of a catchup and popping in to say hi! Had a tough August with work but Trevor is doing well in his recovery, two months after his 'little cardiac problem'. Been having to do stuff at home that he'd normally have taken care of (and will do again, eventually), so my time here and elsewhere online has been a bit limited. Loving seeing what you've all been up to, especially Jeanne's trope threads. I'm only just starting my Someone Pick It for July, so August's Dusty Shelf and this month's Pick It just didn't happen. Now I've got to trawl through my memory to list what I've read and listened to.

Elin Eriksen (vaarin) | 245 comments Thank you Debbie and Sara!
Debbie: I hope you get through Dorian unscathed, you seem very well prepared though.
Anji: I hope for a speedy recovery for your hubby.

I am hoping to join the Pemberley library in the not too distant future but I am currently reading a massive book on Queen Victoria. It is taking me ages to read (partly because I am saving and memorizing a lot of quirky facts of the era). lol
I am scribbling on a modern variation that needs a lot of research and I have been busy editing and posting my two previous stories. (VVV I have edited 8 times and SW 6 times, sigh!)
PS: Why are all the grammar sites written in ancient Greek and without exception, has a sentence at the bottom that contradicts everything above it! Double sigh...

Anji | 735 comments OK, it's been a long old while since I posted an update for my stay in the Colonel's library! I've been trawling through my Kindle and iPod to prod my memory into remembering what I've read and listened to since early August. This isn't in any particular order.

First up are the Austenesque books that I've had the privilege of putting on my British beta hat for. (Still can't believe I get to do that!)

message 635: by Anji (new)

Anji | 735 comments Thanks, friends. We've been away on a long-awaited holiday since I last posted. For those of you on FB, I've recently posted some photos. It was a holiday we'd planned to have over a year ago but one thing after another kept happening every time we talked about booking somewhere. In the end, we only booked it maybe a couple of weeks before we went, spending some time in North Wales. I knew the area quite well from childhood holidays so it was lovely to see those places again, along with some new ones. However, Trevor caught a nasty cold there, passed it on to me and I've spent nearly four weeks trying to get the infection out of my sinuses and lungs. Ah well!

Finally, I've just finished my Someone Pick It from earlier in the year. It's been in progress for a couple of months now and I actually contemplated marking it as a DNF, as it didn't engage my interest much at all, but I have persisted. Have to confess to skimming the final quarter, though.

164. Colonel Darcy: An Elizabeth and Darcy Story by Timothy Underwood ⭐️⭐️⭐️

Got my fingers crossed for you, Sheila. The annoying thing is that Trevor was over his cold in about a week, whilst I still have a certain amount of catarrh four weeks later!

Elin wrote: "Wow, Anji! So many good books on your list and I hope your long-lasting cold has finally relented."

Thanks, Elin. Yes, it has been a good bunch, apart from my most recent one. I thought there'd have been more published stories in total since early August and I know I've missed out some unpublished ones from the summer whose titles I can't remember. But then, there's been three beta reads, which usually take a couple of weeks work each considering the time I have available outside other commitments. Some of the other books (such as These Dreams) have been quite lengthy works. That one kept me going on my commutes for nearly a couple of months!

Anji | 735 comments Sorry for repeating myself, but I've just discovered that I posted my last update in totally the wrong level. I was getting ready to post another one and couldn't find my previous post to see what number I'd got to. So I had a look in my Comments list and discovered it in the Marianne Dashwood level, of all places. Must have had a senior moment! Being a little bit OCD about that sort of thing, now I've discovered my mistake, I simply have to re-post it here!

Time for a quick update. It's going to be nip and tuck as to whether I'll get to Pemberley in time to celebrate the New Year! We'll actually be in Hampshire, staying with friends in Southampton by then, but I probably won't have a chance to visit any Austen-related places, as I'll be the only Janeite in the company 😢😢😢

LOL, the holiday frenzy took its toll on you, Anji. No worries!

Wowsers! You really hit it hard and are nearly there. Great Christmas-themed list you got there.

Anji, you deserve a lovely holiday away from the everyday, with friends to celebrate all the blessings (and all the hurdles you and your husband have had to get over) of the past year. But oh boy, you are so close!
