Nicole Clarkston is a book lover and a happily married mom of three. Originally from Idaho, she now lives in Oregon with her own romantic hero, several horses, and one very fat dog. She has loved crafting alternate stories and sequels since she was a child watching Disney’s Robin Hood, and she is never found sitting quietly without a book of some sort.

Nicole discovered Jane Austen rather by guilt in her early thirties―how does any book worm really live that long without a little P&P? She has never looked back. A year or so later, during a major house renovation project, she discovered Elizabeth Gaskell and fell completely in love. Her need for more time with these characters led her to simultaneously write Rumours & Recklessness, a

Hello, Rita! Lovely to hear from you.

Well, I have a N&S about 1/3 complete, but (sorry to say) I am putting the final few chapters on a P&P first so I can go back and focus on John and Margaret. I am hoping you will see it by fall! I know that Trudy Brasure also has some surprises in the works, so hopefully we will feed your craving soon.

As for why more authors don't swoon for John Thornton, I think people are just starting to really discover him. I believe you will start seeing more in the future, but while they have many similar themes, N&S has a very different mood to it than P&P. I think it may be an acquired taste for some, but a worthy one!

If you pm me your address sometime, I will send over some sample scenes from the new book to tide you over. Have a wonderful summer!

Well, the good news is, you are not alone. Quite a few authors and reviewers have been talking about this exact problem this week. I believe Amazon has made some policy changes that are not well known. You could try writing to customer service, but since it is a bot patrolling the ads, they may not be able to override it.

Either way, I deeply appreciate your efforts to leave a review! They mean so much to me. I do hope you enjoyed the book! (less)

The paperback has hit the ground, and the Kindle is locked down for Amazon's release date. It's finally here!

For those who have not yet sampled the delicious perfection that is John Thornton, he has been called "The Victorian Darcy" or "Darcy of the North." While his character is most decidedly unique, formed by very difference circumstances, Pride and Prejudice fans will recognize many simila... Read more of this blog post »

Description: This humorous vignette was originally written as part of the blog tour for my book Northern Rain, published in July of 2016. “You—Miss Elizabeth, you are not properly attired to be addressing a gentleman in the dark of the night!” She cocked an eyebrow, letting her frame fall carelessly against the door. “So you say, but you are still here. By this I accept your admission that you must not be a gentleman, Mr Collins. Am I to report, sir, that you would harass young ladies in their own bedrooms, in their own homes, in the middle of the night? Terribly shocking, Mr Collins. Lady Catherine would be most seriously displeased!” He gulped, his fingers spasmodically moving to cover his eyes one moment and afford him a better view the next. He knew he ought to turn and flee to his room, but he could not tear himself away. “Miss Elizabeth Bennet, I shall speak to your mother about your serious lack of modesty!” “Oh, do, please.” A sardonic smile tugged her lips. “I am quite certain she and all her friends will enjoy hearing how the clergyman of Hunsford came by such knowledge.”

“Aha!” Richard put a finger to his lips, then traced it in the air, fabricating a mental picture. “She must be tall, fair… blonde, I should think. Blue eyes?” Georgiana giggled. “Miss Elizabeth is not quite my height, Cousin Richard. She has dark hair and curls, and very fine dark eyes!” Richard roared a great guffaw. “You described her to Georgie! In a letter no doubt.” Darcy tried unsuccessfully shrink his tall frame, his ears reddening. “Oh, Cousin, you are dead gone. Indeed, she does sound quite fetching, I cannot wait to make her acquaintance!”

“Richard—do you think me arrogant?” Richard smirked wryly. “You march in here at an unholy hour and proceed to insult me? No, Darcy you haven’t an arrogant bone in your body,” he growled sarcastically. “Now, can I get back to sleep?”
