R10: Team Furious 5 (5)

I do like Parker & Sandford ... having read the first 5 books in each series, I would also lean more towards preferring Spenser at this point.

Review: I have read this book at least 4 times now. It's tough to express how I feel about it. I liked the new side characters, Joe C especially. He seemed to bring a bit of humor to the story. I also liked how the author seems to be wrapping up some loose ends for characters. A wedding. A girlfriend. One thing I don't like was how graphically the murder and mutilation was described. I could have done without those images.

Lethal Letters by Ellery Adams- 11/10/18
How it Fits: A Books By The Bay Mystery #6
Pages: 304
Rating: 3 stars
Review : It's funny thinking back to the first book in this series, how much the MC annoyed me. Typical cozy mystery meddler and this one with a sense of superiority to beat all. Now Olivia is happy and (relatively) friendly and she belongs. The mystery was as ridiculous and over-the-top as usual, but I enjoyed reading the book. There are a few more in the series, but I don't have them yet and I'm too poor to buy books for another 6 months or so, so on the backburner they go. :)

Oh, I'm totally a re-reader. That's why I enjoy challenges so much. They make me read stories I wouldn't try otherwise.

That is no fun. My original e-reader died about a year and a half ago in a car accident. (It had survived both Indonesia and Mongolia). Thankfully, it and the car were the only things badly hurt. Have you heard from the airline at all about yours?

No not yet *sigh*
Quick Reminder:

Review: Now that was a thriller! I really enjoyed it. It was fast paced and well written. The plot was really good in my opinion, totally believable. I enjoyed the character development, really liked seeing more of Weather in Lucas' life. Definitely glad I read this one and will be looking forward to #7 sooner rather than later!

Week 9, Spot 64

Book: The End of Oz by Danielle Paige
How it fits: #4 in the Dorothy Must Die series
Pages: 277
Finished 11/15/18
Rating: Four stars
Review:
And the series is finished - but Oz is safe. Amy and Nox fall in love in the midst of trying to defeat Dorothy and the Nome King (who has decided to control Dorothy and her power giving shoes by marrying her - it complicated how that works). Dorothy does gain back a bit of humanity in this one, and ultimately chooses to vanquish herself. Good prevails and Ozma is back in charge of Oz. Amy is sent back to Kansas, but finds that Nox has followed her. The ending suggests that Oz is not quite finished with Amy however. This was a fun and creative retelling of the story. I think I'll check out Paige's other books too.

Wow! What a cute story! Two people brought together to put on a Christmas pageant but they get so much more out of it. This book was so easy to read and I completely feel in love with the two main characters. Eddie Haven a child movie star works his way into Maureen Davenports life. This book also makes my heart happy as someone understands how important libraries are and are willing to do anything to save this beloved book sanctuary! I would absolutely recommend this book for a wonderful holiday themed read! :)

Week 9 Spot 64

book: Destined for an Early Grave
Author: Jeaniene Frost
Pages: 355
Finished: 11/15/18
Rating: 4 stars
How it fits: 4th book in Night Huntress series
Review: There is a lot of development in this installment of Cat and Bones relationship. We find out that apparently she was married at 16 to another vampire Gregor whom they call Dream Snatcher. He wants her back and will stop at nothing to have her. At the same time the ghouls and vampires are upset because of rumors that Gregor is circulating. Bones and Cat have to work their differences out to come back together. Really good book. A lot of backstory added fleshing the relationships out even more.

Review: I didn't realize it but this book in the series gives a great example of two couples; one that is working together to deal with issues that occur during a marriage, and one that is bent on destroying each other. I like how the author resolved any lingering feeling the main character had for a side character. I have my fingers crossed that the author might one day write a few more books in this series. After all, she did for the Aurora Teagarden series :)
