Ooooohhhh....I see some fun stuff on the SS and some challenging stuff! This is going to be tons of fun!!! I'll be interested to see what you do once you play around with it, Vicky. Also, thanks for the links, Daniela!
Wow, I didn't realise the classes were going to be a whole other thing separate from the spells! I'm going to have to take a closer look at some of those challenges!
Completion PostBook: Tempests and Slaughter

Pages: 465
Date Read: 5/13
Rating: 4 stars
Characters: Arram Draper, Ozorne, Varice,
Not sure if this works for magical creatures, but the feather on the cover is from a Sunbird.
Rachel wrote: "Okay. I have read over the rules for the spells game. Can someone please explain it to me?"Sure! It looks like spells are going to be the easy part of the challenge! ;)
We've been given a list of words and as a group we need to work together to read books with titles, authors (first or last name), series names (as written on Goodreads), or characters (first, last or commonly used nicknames) that fit the letters. I'll show you an example with ACCIO.
A - Arcturus (character from The Bone Season)
C - Cole, Kresley (author of Endless Knight)
C - Court of Frost and Starlight, A (title - A/An/The can be used or ignored)
I - Illuminae Files (series name for Gemina)
O - Orson Scott Card (author of Ender's Game)
Does that help clear things up a little?

Yes that helps. Is the list of names on link you put in the theard earlier?

Let me know if you need characters. I figured we would use it for the “U”.

Shelf Names Please!
If your name is on the following list I still need you to confirm the name of the shelf you are using for this challenge:
Daniela
Rachel
Wolf
I just looked at the spreadsheet and it does make more sense now! I think I am going to participate in one of the buddy reads. Grave MercyI am also going to try to read the BOM Lilac Girls, although I will be traveling, but I do believe we get points for discussion (even if we don't make questions!
The classes are the best! I love finding books that fit specific challenges. The book I am reading right now has 800 pages with a gryphon on the cover (which should work for the magical creatures, if needed).
I can't wait to get all these books I have in line read!
Also, Jen - I just noticed you said you read the Elemental Assassin books. I love them! How far along are you? I just finished up Black Widow (before this challenge started).
sorry, completely forgot about the shelf. it is called TT_VI. I can link it later when I'm on my laptop
Lory wrote: "Also, Jen - I just noticed you said you read the Elemental Assassin books. I love them! How far along are you? After I finished book five, when Gin (view spoiler), it just felt like such a series ender of a book that I still haven't been able to bring myself to continue that series. I know new Big Bads are introduced, but it's still a struggle. :-/

Hi all, sorry I've been incommunicado. I've read a few books since the challenge started, but only three can count (out of four read).First: Funny Girl: Funniest. Stories. Ever., edited by Betsy Bird.

Next: When All the Girls Have Gone by Jayne Ann Krentz

And finally (for now): Not a Girl Detective by Susan Kandel (audio performed by Dina Pearlman)
Read May 13th
Pages: 7h,58m (my paperback has 309 pages (for story; 324 pages total).
Also, if Not a Girl Detective doesn't show up as having been read on May 13 (or even in May 2018), please note that I have contacted Goodreads support for help in getting the date I read this book corrected/updated.

We also get a month from the time the buddy read starts to get discussion points for it - since Lilac Girls starts on the 16th, you have until June 16th to pop into the discussion - so there is a little wiggle room! :D
Daniela wrote: "sorry, completely forgot about the shelf. it is called TT_VI. I can link it later when I'm on my laptop"No worries! Thanks :D
Wolf (Alpha) wrote: "By the way, we have a Read Books thread for all of our Completion Posts. Here is the link: https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/..."We're not going to use that thread, it's easy enough for me to keep things all in one place. :)
Jen wrote: "How is everyone's week looking? Any fun plans coming up?"Ugh, I wish I had something fun happening! I just got home from my hoarding clients, I have a pack/unpack on Tuesday/Wednesday, and then I'm back with my hoarders Thursday and Friday. Plus three closing shifts at my store. I feel like I need 10 showers everyday when I get home. ;_;
I do have Saturday off though, so... looking foward to that. XD
Jen wrote: "Also, if Not a Girl Detective doesn't show up as having been read on May 13 (or even in May 2018), please note that I have contacted Goodreads support for help in getting the date I read this book ..."No worries, Jen! We all know Goodreads has been weird with read dates recently. :)

Grave Mercy is great. I love that whole series!
I'm up through Poison Promise in Elemental Assassin. But if Assassins is called for SOS Bookshelf Bingo I'll be reading Black Widow this week.

Ohhh this one has some great letters!
Just so you all know, Sonia has told us she's getting the rule post together for Classes so we'll have some clarification. I've been inputting books reported into the spreadsheet but I'm not going to do much with placing them until we see what she has in store! :)
Vicky wrote: "No worries, Jen! We all know Goodreads has been weird with read dates recently. :) "
I got a rather quick reply to my request for help. Here is what I was told:
Hi Jennifer,
Thank you for taking the time to write in about this! Our developers are aware of extra reading sessions being erroneously created and are working on fixing it. While I don’t have a firm date for the fix, this bug is prioritized in our development team’s backlog - we know how important it is to save your book activity appropriately and hope to fix this soon.
I’ve added your report to the developer ticket and I’ll let you know once it’s been resolved. If there’s anything else I can help you with, in the meantime, please feel free to reach out!
Hopefully they'll get this bug fixed soon!

Thank you, Jen! :)
Hi all, If we ever get a word that we have to spell out, I just checked and all four books in The Tapper Twins series by Geoff Rodkey would be acceptable for this challenge: They all have over 25,000 words. :-)Each of the four books in this series has a major secondary character named Xander in it for X:
Or, I can recommend
by Julia Karr. This is a YA dystopian story. It was good, I gave it 3.5 stars, but there's always the chance you'll enjoy it more than I did. (My friends who read it gave it four and even five stars.) :-)
I am doing Children of Blood and Bone as a BOM. My discussion questions for 1-5 are linked. They are message #124. https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...

I read Lilac Girls last year, and don't really want to read it again so soon. Can I still do discussion questions for points even if I don't read the book again?
