We can't get points for any other tasks until these are completed. The Mods have updated the rules a bit, so any books we read from 8/1 are eligible for any tasks, but we really need to get these done first. Please check the books you've claimed, and if you aren't going to read that task, let me know so we can open it up to another player.

Here is the link again for our planning spreadsheet - you can see what's open under the TWT tab: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/...

You can add your read books to the Book Detail tab and also claim tasks - if you don't have access just request it and I'll add you. Let me know if you have any questions.

Sassafrass (sass-a-frass) | 1142 comments Yay! I'm glad you both like my idea too. It's there to use if you can.

Emma (M) | 1777 comments If there are any worries about Sassafrass’s battle book being suitable, I will finish a book today that has a number of big battles in it.

Erika Does this count as a cottage?

message 905: by Emma (M) (last edited Aug 04, 2018 03:05AM) (new)

Emma (M) | 1777 comments It looks more like a cabin to me, but it depends if the mods consider a cabin a cottage I guess.

message 906: by Erika (new)

Erika Right? I mean is a shack a cottage? Just in shambles ;)

message 907: by Emma (M) (new)

Emma (M) | 1777 comments I found this definition of a cottage and going by that your cover fits as a run down abandoned version. I’m sure it would have been cozy in its prime :)

A cottage is, typically, a small house. It may carry the connotation of being an old or old-fashioned building. In modern usage, a cottage is usually a modest, often cozy dwelling, typically in a rural or semi-rural location.

I would say no - a shack is "a roughly built hut or cabin", not the same as Emma's definition of being cozy

Longest book I’ve read in a while but thankfully also one of the best books I’ve read so it was an enjoyable 1009pages. :)

Sassafrass (sass-a-frass) | 1142 comments I'm claiming the prophecy book and finally getting around to reading Blade Bound since it's got a central prophecy that I just found out will be the backdrop for a spin off series! SQUEE!

Nox Reads (nox_reads) Out of curiosity, if someone is only MENTIONED in a book, do they count as a character?

I finished Hunting Prince Dracula and they talk about Vlad the Impaler a lot and I wanted to know if I could use him for V

SandyL | 4747 comments Hi Newts! I hope everyone is having a great weekend!

You guys are doing a great job with the task and everything has been claimed. So we're opening up the rest of the tasks. If you've claimed a task that isn't complete yet, please try to finish that before taking on anything else - we don't get ANY points for ANY tasks if we don't finish the first one we chose.

I know it's a lot of work on your part, but when you do your completion posts, if you can list all the tasks your book works for it helps if we need to move things around. Hopefully everyone is okay with first read, first used if necessary, even if you claimed a task. If you really want a book you're reading to be used for a specific task just PM and I'll make sure to use it for that.

Here's the link to all the tasks: https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...
Here's the link to the spreadsheet: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/...

Let me know if you have any questions.

message 932: by Erika (new)

Now questions!

Do the books have to be started on or after a certain point to count?

What does an announcer do?

message 938: by Cat (new)

Cat (cat_uk) | 10096 comments Mod
Announcer will put up moves on the thread as they happen - it needs someone who can be on GR a LOT during the game (Friday am UK to 15th)
Generally, monitoring a couple of the quidditch threads in the Burrow as well as the game thread is required

Having someone do most of it is really helpful for the players, but players can and will help out if necessary.

message 939: by Claire (new)

Claire | 273 comments Sorry:-( I normally can do such things, but very very busy these days.

message 940: by Emma (M) (new)

Emma (M) | 1777 comments With a toddler I just can’t devote the time to GR to be an announcer I’m afraid.

✿~Danielle~✿ (dmh1) | 5684 comments Does anyone have a Young Adult book starting with R and ending with S? If so we can make the YA square (with some books that have already been read) for GOF task 1. If no one has a book that fits, no worries, there’s a few other YA books read we can try to work from.
