Are you enjoying The World According to Bob The Further Adventures of One Man and his Street-wise Cat by James Bowen ? It's in my long-term TBR.

message 207: by Susan (new)

Susan | 986 comments Yum! Your snacks and soup sound delicious. And your starting book looks intriguing. Enjoy your Readathon!

message 208: by Kate (new)

Kate | 646 comments Thanks Ann. I don't think I've managed over 10 hours yet, I'd really like to get to 12 but I think that may be a bit ambitious. We'll see. :)

Elyse, I read A Street Cat Named Bob: How One Man and His Cat Found Hope on the Streets a couple of years ago and then was offered the sequel, if anything I think I'm enjoying this one more. I'm about 80 pages off the end so it will be good to finish a book early in the readathon so I feel I'm making progress.

Thanks Susan, your post has just reminded me that I still actually have to make the soup! lol

Kate | 646 comments Right, the slow cooker is on. Now I need to make the vegetable soup, a pavlova (for my sister-in-laws birthday tomorrow) and tidy up my reading areas.
3 hours and counting....

message 212: by Kate (last edited Oct 24, 2020 06:06AM) (new)

Kate | 646 comments Well hour 1 was a success. 1 60 minute sprint and I've finished my first book: The World According to Bob The Further Adventures of One Man and His Street-wise Cat by James Bowen I only had 66 pages left to read and they fitted the hour nicely!

message 213: by Kate (last edited Oct 24, 2020 09:12AM) (new)

Kate | 646 comments Completed my second sprint and made progress with Pompeii by Robert Harris
Need a stretch and to update my bingo board. Haven't got a line yet but my squares are getting completed so it won't be long!

Kate | 646 comments Third sprint and I made a dent in Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix (Harry Potter, #5, Part 1) by J.K. Rowling

I've got my first bingo line - column 4.
I should get 2 more lines tomorrow when I wear my Wonder Woman socks and read Wonder Woman: Eyes of the Gorgon lol.

message 216: by Kate (new)

Kate | 646 comments Thought I'd better come in and have a spring clean ready for April 2021. Considering the new game board but already have quite a TBR pile for March so will have to check the variety and see if they are likely to fit any squares...

Kate | 646 comments Decided it was time I rolled through the entire game so I could plan my reading out. So glad I did with all the Go Backs!
Considering I only just manage 500 pages during a good readathon I think I'll be hard pushed to finish this by the end of Deweys. Especially once Bingo comes into play too!

I'm also tempted to do the rest of my rolls to see how close to the end I am. I've had a few setbacks and it would be helpful to see those coming with only 10 days to go!

Kate | 646 comments Thanks Elizabeth, Susan & Susy. :)

I've just finished a load of housework so I can put my feet up.
Coin toss heads: Hamnet, tails: Cranford. Landed on heads so I'll be reading Hamnet for the first 1 hour sprint.
Good luck everybody.

I'm getting on ok with it thanks. Bit muddled with the time lines to start with but that soon sorted itself out. About 40 pages to go so I'm on the home straight with it now.

Kate | 646 comments Closing Survey

How would you assess your reading overall?
Very successful, I met my targets, finished 2 books and made progress/started others
Did you have a stategy, and if so, did you stick to it? I concentrated more on goodreads and a bit on Twitter and let Facebook and the blog go this time because it was all too much last time. However, in doing this I feel I missed out on challenges I would have enjoyed. Still not sure how to strike a balance with social media.
What was your favourite snack? Actually it was my sour cream chive dip with carrot sticks, cucumber, cheese straws and BBQ pringles. Great assortment and easy to nibble while reading. I'll be doing that again.
Wanna volunteer for our next event? Will definitely participate, not so sure about volunteering. Am liking the themed idea for the next one. :)
