Stone Sky has a variety of natural disasters, if there's a possible switch in for SKY in title (earthquakes)

Does it work for the mini challenge? If so, which tasks does it work for?

We have one more day and 2 hours of reading left, so let's make the most of it!!

COUNTDOWN

Kelly (louloo) | 314 comments I’m 50% through my last book thanks to an early morning wake up call!

message 1307: by Eldarwen (new)

Eldarwen | 5004 comments Early morning wake up call doesn't sound very nice.. but extra reading time is always welcome!! :-)

Kelly, could I get the sentence please for pyjamas? Thanks!

Nevermind! :-) Slotted Changing Nature into that task.

message 1309: by Eldarwen (last edited Apr 30, 2018 01:46AM) (new)

Eldarwen | 5004 comments Okay, so there is no way I'm going to be able to finish my orange book in time. I am enjoying it a lot though! Nasty villain and the police are funny - the FBI agents not so much but they make for a good laughing stock nevertheless ;-)

Switching Cat's Stone Sky to the natural disaster task. Moving Kelly's Little Bakery on Rosemary Street to the Sky in title task, and going to pick up a quick cozy mystery with food on the cover to cover the edible item on cover task.

ARGH! We used the bakery book twice, ffs. So no moving around. I'm just going to pick up the cozy to fill the task where the book was used a second time.

message 1310: by Katie (new)

Katie | 230 comments I'll get my completion post done tonight once my kids are asleep. I'm still going to try to squeeze in one more book, but I'm not sure how feasible that's going to be...

message 1311: by Eldarwen (new)

Eldarwen | 5004 comments Thanks, Katie! :-)

message 1312: by Cat (new)

Cat (cat_uk) | 2147 comments another swapping around option:

Brief History of Seven Killings has SKY
Stone Sky has earthquakes
Slaughterhouse 5 has complex plot
??? has parent char

assuming there is a ???? to swap into that one.

message 1313: by Katie (new)

Katie | 230 comments Done with Seducing the Defendant. I'm going to try to finish What Not To Were for 68.

There is one other book with a parent char, maybe 2, so it won't really make much of a difference if it's just swapping around for the sake of swapping around.

(Eta for our reference: The Painted Crown and The Bookshop on Rosemary Lane

But: no replacement for task 62 (baked goods on cover) where Bookshop is slotted.)

Cat (cat_uk) | 2147 comments I wasn't sure if there was a spare unused book at the moment, but was also providing info if anyone finishes an unexpected book (Katie)

message 1317: by Cat (last edited Apr 30, 2018 09:41AM) (new)

Cat (cat_uk) | 2147 comments also, I'm thinking I might try and knock out two of those hateful Mrs Fix Its for the same cover task, after I get through with Seven Killings.
I just realised that I use different abbreviations for that book depending on how I feel about it. When it's dragging, it's the ironical "Brief History" at other times it's "Seven Killings". I can totally see why it got all the praises & prize & stuff, and I have enjoyed it, though definitely some parts more than others, and I'd've been happier if it wasn't blurbed a s being around the Bob Marley assassination attempt. If I'd thought it was an exploration of the ills of Jamaica from the outset I'd've been able to get on with it much better!

Hammered (Mrs. Fix It Mysteries #1) by Belle Knudson & A Veneer of Murder (Mrs. Fix It Mysteries #3) by Belle Knudson
the MC is a parent, in case I don't get both done

message 1319: by Eldarwen (new)

Eldarwen | 5004 comments It's been ages since I read an Agatha Christie book. Do they have a convoluted plot??

Then we could throw that one in there and switch the Seven Killings (or Brief History hehe) to sky, and Stone Sky to natural disaster.

Yes, those are the ones I've been considering but I lost my train of thought at work this morning because there was too much noise and too many interruptions.

It would require A LOT of switching but I'll see what can be done.

Need to do a quick trip to the shop first though.

I was just about to come back & suggest that one as being more likely to be successful / palatable!

Yellow and grey, unfortunately :-( I keep checking it over and over again but it's certainly not white irl.

oh! just had a thought: do we need to indicate which we were going to pair it with, if we only achieve one????! 'cso if we don't we can bung anything in there, right? and I'd be better off reading something else!

;-P

Sorry you guys are waiting on me, but I don't think I'll be able to find a chunk of time to get those posted until tonight.

Finished up 45 and am thinking of trying for 65.

Yeah, I know. I mentioned that I'd do it tonight after the kids go down. :)

I haven't seen the movie, but I'm enjoying the book so far.

message 1341: by Eldarwen (new)

Eldarwen | 5004 comments Not read The Martian and not sure it's up my alley, but what I mostly heard was that it was a great book, so I assume it'll read nicely as well. And since you're an incredibly fast reader and have aaaalmost 12 hours left... I think you should manage somehow (sleep is overrated haha).

I guess that's one way of doing it hehe.
No, you don't need to indicate what you'd pair it with. Since the idea is that both books would be right there. But if we aren't going to get both done, well.. yeah, you could read something else. Though that really isn't the purpose of the task ;-)

message 1345: by Eldarwen (new)

Eldarwen | 5004 comments 11 1/2 hours left!

Completion posts need to be in before the countdown goes to 0.

Happy reading until then! Or good night for those of who you, like me, are going to head to bed now.

I'll finish my "edible item on cover" book tomorrow morning.
