Cat (cat_uk) | 2147 comments I enjoyed it, though I was super annoyed at Ellie's initial "I'm going straight", goes to one place looking for a jpb, doesn't get one, sees a con and immediately falls off the wagon!
I get that it'd be dull for us to follow her round various job hunts, but couldn't she have thrown in a line like "after two weeks of trying and failing ..." ?!

Hahah, true. There was barely any token trying as far as going straight is concerned.

The one response I got said dark green. That was what I was leaning toward as well so it should work. If you guys however prefer to go a safer and more obvious way, not a problem!

message 1160: by Cat (new)

Cat (cat_uk) | 2147 comments I'm cool with it being green :)

message 1161: by Eldarwen (new)

Eldarwen | 5004 comments Ok, so we can use that one for 6 Green as well as 4 Green, since Louise and I are both reading it and there are characters for both.

I'll replace The Smoke Thief with The Last Necromancer then.

That way I also won't need to read Unbelievable for the 4 Green then.

And, since Kelly is currently reading a book that has a pink cover, we can use that for the mini task instead of Perfect. I'll go with a sci-fi book instead to get one of those tasks out of the way as there are quite a few. I'll most likely end up reading The War of the Worlds.

sounds like you have a plan, even if I didn't entirely follow it!

I'll assess where we are with the mini when I finish one of my current books.

Cat (cat_uk) | 2147 comments and, how have we ended up with so many 1s to fill??!

I shall have to hunt down some start of series books!

message 1165: by Eldarwen (new)

Eldarwen | 5004 comments Haha, right? But there were a lot of other, harder cards that have been filled in first. Didn't realise we had so many 1s either until I did the summary earlier. But they're usually easy. So so many series out there.

Eldarwen | 5004 comments Aw shame that two don't work for the mini :-(

Is there something maybe that works for a slot that has already been taken? Maybe we can switch around a little? Country you do not live in?

(I'm saying maybe because a lot of the books seem to work for the same tasks.)

Eta2: For Rocked: Dex and Becca, what's the character called?

Eldarwen | 5004 comments Alright, ladies!

As we're nearing the end of the month and the end of the challenge, here is the list of the remaining tasks that do not have a book assigned to them yet. It might be useful if we started looking for particular tasks so we can cover as many of them as possible.

===

There are a couple of tasks that have been claimed but where the books aren't finished yet.
Where possible, for your next books, please try to find something that fits one or more of these particular tasks.
We can do a little switching around but unfortunately, there are a fair number of books that fit the same tasks, so there isn't all that much moving possible.

Thanks, ladies! Let's do the best of the remaining week of reading!! :-)

Cat (cat_uk) | 2147 comments I picked up Moonraker by Ian Fleming at the library yesterday.... Will it work for yellow & white cover? It will work for space ship on the cover, but astronaut might be pushing it - I've not read the book in sooo long, I can't remember how prominent they might be. Ditto scientist.

Obvious cards: Ian Fleming author / #3 in series

message 1178: by Eldarwen (new)

Eldarwen | 5004 comments Hm, should work for yellow and white, yes. Spaceship on cover is definitely a plus, too.

Cat (cat_uk) | 2147 comments oh, pencil me in for the SKY in title task? - The Stone Sky
I don't think it'll fit anything else, though I've not checked the publish date yet

message 1180: by Katie (new)

Katie | 230 comments I'll spend some time going through my books to see what I can add. I should be able to knock out a pretty good # of books before the end of the month. :)

message 1183: by Eldarwen (new)

Eldarwen | 5004 comments And just to put a tiny bit of extra pressure on *grin*

Here is our COUNTDOWN until the end of Uno.

message 1184: by Katie (new)

Katie | 230 comments So, I'm fairly sure my current book will work for 50. After that, I've got plans for 4, 8, 14 and 16. If I finish those I'll see what's left at that point. :)

50 - Sweet Ruin
4 - The Harem Master
8 - Stone Rose
14 - Rise & Fall
16 - Seducing the Defendant

Also, those 2 books that didn't fit the mini before...

Primal Bonds

1, 3, 11, 17

Twisted and Tied

1, 2, 5, 11, 36, 58

message 1185: by Eldarwen (new)

Eldarwen | 5004 comments Thanks, Katie!

I'll see if I can make those 2 fit somehow by switching some things around if possible.

And awesome on the other ones! :-D

message 1186: by Eldarwen (last edited Apr 23, 2018 12:32PM) (new)

Eldarwen | 5004 comments Ookay, for Primal Bonds, I need the reason why task 17 fits. Who are the siblings?

And for Twisted and Tied, I need the reason why task 11 fits. Who goes for a walk?

Also, since I've been switching things around a little, we're going back to The Ongoing Reformation of Micah Johnson - that was now slotted in for task 70. Who is the blunt character?

Thanks! :-)

(Tasks that have been filled with the switching around and removed from the above list: 24. black cover & 31. predominant sky.)

They’re easy reads and you know it will end happily!

The Meadowbrook book is also a 1 as it’s first in a series.

sorry, I've been switching things around so I'll need some info from you again hehe. In Tangled Threads, who is the lawyer? I was thinking Mab Monroe, but I can't remember if she's just someone big and important or if she's actually a lawyer... Might get things confused (I've only read the first book in the series).
