Sharla Desy I love to make plans. I am just not so good at following them. At the start of the new year, when reading possibilities seem endless, I can post this plan and think I might make a dent in it. Come May, when it's time to start reading middle grade literature (titles not yet identified) in preparation for next school year's battle of the books, I may not be so optimistic. So, here goes:

1. Letters A, T & Y in the title: The Hate U Give I know...it doesn't have a Y. I thought the title was "You", not "U." Reading it anyhow.
The Empathy Exams: Essays
2. From first 10 in TBR list: Just Mercy: A Story of Justice and Redemption
3. From 2017 Goodreads Choice Awards: Little Fires Everywhere or The Radium Girls: The Dark Story of America's Shining Women
4. 4 Elements/Earth: An Astronaut's Guide to Life on Earth
5. About or inspired by real events: Endurance: Shackleton's Incredible Voyage
6. Originally written in language other than English: The Baghdad Eucharist
7. Gothic Novel: The Shadow of the Wind

17. Book you expect to make you laugh: Dog Man and Cat Kid
18. Location in the title: The Little Paris Bookshop
19. Edgar Award nominee or Grand master author: Greenglass House
20. Rated 5 stars by a friend: The Day the World Came to Town: 9/11 in Gander, Newfoundland
21. First person: The Remains of the Day
22. High expectations: Go Tell the Bees That I Am Gone (if she finishes it in time for publication in 2018) otherwise The Wild Robot Escapes
