My last three books from St. Martins Press have been just awful. I'm not going to be requesting from them in the near future unless it is an author I have read and liked.

I finished For This Moment by Holly Bush, The Gentrys of Paradise #2, and really liked this story, especially as it’s an historical set in America. Here’s my review.

I finished Second Chance Cowboy by A.J. Pine, Crossroads Ranch #1, and enjoyed it, despite a rather angsty cowboy. Here’s my review.

I’m now reading Murder on Gramercy Park by Victoria Thompson, Gaslight Mystery #3.

The Highland Secret Agent (Lairds of Dunkeld Series) (A Medieval Scottish Romance Story) by Emilia Ferguson The Highland Secret Agent (Lairds of Dunkeld Series) by Emilia Ferguson on Kindle
I received this complementary book for review on my own accord. The story wasn't bad but there were so many sub-plots, it was hard to keep track of the story. I have read her others in the series and it just getting to0 confusing to keep all the characters straight. There is a character index in the beginning, but I have had to literally write them on paper so as I read I can figure out who's who. The two main characters were good, but Amice is so immature. Will be the last one for me in the series, sorry to say. 2 stars

Texas Rich (Texas, #1) by Fern Michaels Texas Rich by Fern Michaels in paperback
WOW!! Dallas and Dynasty shows put together. A story of a young girl Billie who gets involved with Moss Colman during the WWII, finds herself pregnant, married and thrown into the world of the filthy rich. Her mother Aggie and her are carted off to Texas to give the Coleman's a son and heir to the mean, cruel Seth Coleman. Billie very seldom see's her husband and when she gives birth to a daughter, the ground shakes. Billie is unprepared for this like and her mother becomes just as mean spirited and conniving as Seth Coleman to keep her place on the ranch. This plot made me sad and angry. How these people could treat others under the pretense of caring "for their own" and what money can buy. The characters were so strong and believable. It was a very exciting, fast moving story through times and generations. I am looking forward to seeing what is next in this family. WOW!! 5 stars

Loving a Fearless Duchess A Historical Regency Romance Book by Abigail Agar Loving a Fearless Duchess: A Historical Regency Romance Book by Abigail Agar on Kindle
Penelope, her mother, and brother now live with her uncle Avery after Penelope's father dies. They are grateful but afraid of Henry, Avery's demented son. He does cruel things to animals and mentally and verbally abuses Penelope. She is beginning her season with hopes to find a husband, but with an ugly scar on her face, it is unlikely she will find one suitable. Nash met Penelope years ago right after her accident and made a quick connection with her. Now he has seen her again and see's Penelope in a different way. Not a marred woman. Because of the families secrets, Avery wants Henry to do everything to stop this romance. This book takes you on a ride of mystery, suspense, horror, secrets and romance. The only con I had for the book was the ending felt muddled and chaotic. The ending was predictable, but getting there was great. I really enjoyed this book. I read it one day. 4 stars

Love's First Flames (Banished Saga, #0.5) by Ramona Flightner Love's First Flames by Ramona Flightner on Kindle
I already had read book 1 but I so enjoyed this prequel to Banished. The children have had to endure so much it breaks your heart. Losing their parents tragically, living with an evil, mean, abusive aunt and her spoiled, mean sons. The boys never give up and grow into remarkable men. I love how they don't become bitter, angry, and hateful through all of it. Their parents did a wonder job instilling in them this. It made me cry, cringe, giggle and love. It's a great series and want to read more. 5 stars

Rescued by an Earl (The Duke's Daughters Book 3) by Rose Pearson Rescued by an Earl by Rose Pearson on Kindle
Jacintha Seawoth has been in love with her childhood friend Henry Musgrave since the day their kiss was broken up with interruptions. Now Henry is back and his reputation is not what she remembers. Jacintha is next in line to be married and will marry for convenience instead of love with Henry no longer in the running. She meets a dashing Alexander Slate and has come to realize this will have to do. Henry is seeing how his behaviors is hurting his relationship with Jacintha and his family. A wonderful story of family, renewed love, forgiveness, mystery, suspense and intrigue. The characters are strong and the plot is excellent. Only reason I gave it a 4 star review is because I thought the book got too drawn out. Could have been condensed a bit. But all in all, a fabulous story. 4 stars

The saga of the rich Coleman family continues. Billie Colman's daughter Maggie, now owner of the Sunbridge ranch is having a big July 4th party to re-establish herself in the community and to flaunt her power and riches in everyone's face after being turned away years ago. Maggie is in the beginning of her divorce, her son Cole hates Sunbridge and wants everyone to know it, and her estranged daughter Sawyer is in for some events in her life that will test her strength, love and forgiveness for the family. Seth Coleman has to be turning and cursing in his grave. The characters are strong, well defined and believable. A story of old resentments, money, power, love and even sometimes forgiveness. It just keeps getting better. Excellent! 5 stars

Least Likely Heiress (The Heiress Games Book 1) Palm Cove Tales by Kristin Wallace Least Likely Heiress (The Heiress Games Book 1): Palm Cove Tales by Kristen Wallace ARC on Kindle

Texas Fury (Texas, #3) by Fern Michaels Texas Fury by Fern Michaels in paperback
3rd book in the Texas series brings many changes to the Coleman dynasty. Cole and Riley are grown up, finding their places and loves in their lives. The older generation is slipping away, moving on with their lives away from Sunbridge with their loves, losses, torments and trials. I have read the first two of this series and loved them. I was very disappointed with this one. I had a hard time dealing with Amelia's throwing another woman to Cary no matter what her motives were. I found it disgusting. It took me a long time to read this book as it was so drawn out. I found myself skipping over most of it. Although it felt drawn out, there were too many subplots in this book. Difficult to get interested in one plot before I was thrown into another. I would have liked to seen this book broken down into another book before the last one Texas Sunrise. I will finish the series as, all in all, I have enjoyed it. 3 stars
