Brenda wrote: "Doing well Deborah and Mary! We certainly have a lot of talented writers in Australia :)"Don't we just! I just keep finding more and more now that I am actually looking for them. I don't expect I would ever have noticed without the Aussie reader group.
Brenda wrote: "Doing well Deborah and Mary! We certainly have a lot of talented writers in Australia :)"I agree, Brenda, and I'm making a point of trying to incorporate authors I've not read before in this challenge too.
I love finding good Aussie writing and promoting it in lots of groups. I’m sure we’re helping to introduce our wide brown land (and dark back streets) to lots of new readers!

Very impressed!
I finished my 2nd book, under Science Fiction genre.

Hero 4 stars. It was a great story, once I got used to it.
Recently finished my second book, and first by a male author for this challenge. Taboo by Kim Scott. A thoughtful, sometimes uncomfortable read, full of pathos and humour. Highly recommended.

hi everyone, I'm up to number 8 of 24 against this challenge. I'm pleased to be reading more Australian authors - and like Deborah said above, I'm finding more and more great Australian authors and stories now I'm actually looking for them. Big thanks to this group. I'm also enjoying reading reviews more, so thought I should at least make some small comment about the books I'm reading. So I've made a start with The Secret River which I've read this weekend:https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
best wishes

OK! I have added a brilliant new (to me) book and author, the one is unmistakably Australian, rural, 1940's. I was lucky to be loaned the book by a relative of the author.

Also, sadly, regretfully and more than a little resentfully, I am going to have to admit that
by Peter Carey is a complete DNF for me. I am angry about it, but I just cannot bring myself to keep reading. I am counting it as 'read' because I made it through more than 160 pages but I really cannot be bothered to make it through any more.

My sixth is by male author, twice Booker prize winner Peter Carey, who is still a famous Aussie in spite of living in NY for many years.A Long Way from Home is another very Aussie story about a Redex Trial in the 1950s. Cars, racing, families, Aboriginal history.

I have just acquired my last one for 'male authors' I am pretty excited about it...

by Anthony O'NeillI am pretty sure it was people from this group that put me on to it.
When this one is done, I will be in a quandary, because I have not a single one published in 2018, the library does not seem to have any either. Since I do not read ebooks it is going to be a true challenge to complete this part.
I like challenges - they keep you on your toes :)

Good luck Deborah :) I'm shocked at your library though - it's already March. They should have heaps of the new releases in - good grief, don't they even support Aussie authors!
