Just completed the first book in a new series - The Queen of the Tearling by Erika Johansen. This was a really solid fantasy debut! The writing is clear and not repetitive. The characters are interesting and complex. And the story had a clear path with some lovely surprises. Definitely worth reading! 4.5 stars19/15
Just completed another book in the Michael Bennett series - Chase by James Patterson. Ugh, this series is getting old, but in short bursts like this, it's not too bad. Worth reading. 3 stars20/15
Just completed the 2nd book in the Queen of the Tearling series - The Invasion of the Tearling by Erika Johansen. I was so confused with this book. I really enjoyed the first book in the series, and the author just took this book in a really odd direction. I liked that we finally figured out the crossing - I had my suspicions. But I definitely left the book feeling more confused and not incredibly excited to read the final installment. Worth reading but only if you can't stop reading a series like me. 3 stars21/15

The Black Box, book 16 of the Harry Bosch series by Michael Connelly, I enjoy Harry Bosch books and have been working on this series for years. Like all of the series I really enjoy, I don't want to read them all to fast. It would be really disappointing to not have another to look forward to.33/75
Just finished the Queen of the Tearling series - The Fate of the Tearling by Erika Johansen. This series was not entirely nonredeemable. True, the author took some really sick turns and there were still major gaps in her plot line at the end. But I liked the inevitable conclusion of what would a truly good citizen give up to ensure that their beloved country was able to survive and thrive. That ending saved the series for me. It contained real emotion. But some of the twisted stuff in the middle was unnecessary and distracted from the overall plot. Worth reading but be warned. 3.5 stars22/15
