Welcome to the group Nina!
We all have different priorities in different stages of our lives. You must be reading a lot (of book?) for your study as well? So that's reading too right, even if it's not for pleasure.
I hope this group, it's great challenges, fun group/buddy reads and supportive members will help you reach your goal! But above all I hope you'll have lots of fun participating and reading!

Tessa (tessaslingerland) | 44 comments Hi,
My name is Tessa and I’m from the Netherlands. I love to read, and I work in a library. Sounds good? It is! Although this year I will start working in ouu heritage centre; a combination of books and history. Perfect for me, because my favourite books are historical novels, non-fiction (lots of history), but also thrillers and children’s books.

I found this group when I was looking for the new challenge for 2018. I’ve been doing the Goodreads challenges since 2011, and couldn’t find the 2018 challenge. I have found it today (new years day), but this group will be a good addition. I hope it will challenge me even more! I’m looking forward to the monthly and quarterly challenges, and to getting to know you all. I’m sure it will make reading even more fun. So I have increased my reading goal for this year to 80.

Liawèn | 13 comments Hello everyone and happy new year :-)

My name is Ann-Kathrin and I'm from Essen in Germany. My screen name is Liawèn. She's a character I invented and am currently writing about :-) I'm 27 years old and I study to become a teacher, English and Biology. 2018 is going to be year I graduate university. There's lots of university readings I have to do but I hope to get some fun reads in between too^^

I read basically everything, from Austen to Shakespeare (He's the topic of my last big thesis^^), everything Holmes and whatever sparks my interest.
I found audiobooks last year through a friend who recommended audible to me. Since then I have downloaded and listened to quite a few audiobooks.

I found this group per chance. It was in my feed and I thought it looked interesting and could maybe help me to prevent the reading slump I seem to have doing the summer months.

I'm looking forward to getting to know more people and discuss books with all of you :-)

Denise Ky (ramblingoutloud) (deniseky) Hi!
Fun to read about fellow book lovers :)

I live in Sweden and as of last year I got back from a pretty big reading slump (with a tiny bit of force-reading). It’s been mostly contemporary fiction and young adult lit, but I love fantasy and have found my way towards science fiction, as well.

Being a mother of two, working and studying full time, the reading consists mostly of audiobooks, but any kind of reading is better than none in my opinion :)

The goal this year is 40 books, to begin with!

Good luck all and, most importantly, have fun! 😃

Denise Ky (ramblingoutloud) (deniseky) Oh, forgot the most important part. I found this reading challenge by consulting the mighty Google and thought is sounded like a good and fun way to diversify my reading (now that the hill has been climbed).
:)

Welcome to the group Tessa, glad that you (accidentally) found us :) I joined the group last year and it certainly did challenge me to read more! I'm a real fan of the monthly group and buddy reads, they are very addictive! Hope you'll have an amazing time here. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask!!

Welcome to the group Ann-Kathrin, so glad you (accidentally) found us!
Cool that you are writing yourself! Do you have aspirations to become a writer?

As to preventing a reading slump, in my experience this group is awesome because it's a very active group and the group members are very supportive and encouraging. I hope you'll have the same experience! Enjoy!

Robert (gooblejook) | 11 comments Hi all!

I'm Robert. I live in Dayton, Ohio, USA. I like reading historical or historical fiction, self-development, horror/sci-fi/fantasy, and recently I've been enjoying some war stories. Thinking I'll probably try romance a little this year. Who knows? 100 books is a lot of words.

I found y'all when I was looking for a 100-book-year challenge group to join. I'm going for 100 this year. I'll be mixing in a lot of audiobooks, as I really enjoy listening to them sped up and while I'm exercising.

Nice to meet everyone. Good luck on your goal!

Hi Denise, welcome to the group!
I joined this group last year, hoping it would help me out of my reading slump and it sure did. Started of with a tentative goal of 12 books, upped it during the year to 24 and ended up reading 46 books. In the meantime I got addicted to this group. It's a very active, fun group to participate in. I hope you'll have the same experience!

Being a mother of two, working and studying full time, ....

Wow, you have quite a busy life. Impressed how you manage to get any reading done!

I had been in a reading slump for years (only watched tv) until I joined this group last year. I started with a tentative goal of 12 books, upped it to 24 during the year and ended up reading 46 books! There's only 1 but: now I have become addicted to this group and spend a lot of time checking out updates from fellow group members, checking out new books (while I have a TBR to last me multiple lifetimes lol) etc.

message 576: by Ingrid (new)

Ingrid | 9 comments Hello! My name is Ingrid and I have been in a reading slump for some time. I would like to give my self a modest goal that I can achieve and exceed easily. So, here I go! 25 books in 2018!

I have many TBF books in my collection and a lot of TBR also. I will always have room to add new books as I run into ones that interest me.

I enjoy general fiction, non fiction, biographies, historical fiction, dystopian books and really am open to any great read.

Thomas Ward (thomashward) | 1 comments Hi group Thomas H. Ward here in Tampa, Fl. I love reading a good book and writing a good story. I have been a Goodreads member and author for years but never joined a group before. I like all types of books from the Bible to all kinds of fiction. I write mostly fiction mystery stories. I see that many of you read 100 books a year. Wow! If I have to time to read 10, then I am doing good. Right now I am reading 2 books and writing one. Reading one book titled "Yobo" not on Goodreads. A story about a solider trapped in Korea in the 1600 time period.
I look forward to reading comments from others in the group. HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE.

I saw this group on my Goodreads home page, and I thought it might be a great place to keep track of my progress toward one of my resolutions for the new year: Read 100 new books. I'm thinking the challenges and hopefully interactions with other readers will help keep me focused, engaged, and motivated. Jessica (jabcollins) | 3 comments Hello all!

I’m Jessica, and I’m from central Iowa here in the US. I’m a high school English teacher, so reading is not only what I do for enjoyment but what I do for work also!

My goal this year is a measly 24 books, 2 each month, but what I’m counting as my personal challenge books are some more adult books from things like the NYT bestsellers list or a list of classics that I should have read by not but haven’t. I’m sure there will be many more books that I read or listen to on my way to and from work that are my usual romance novels or mystery/comedy series reads. I just want to expand my reading repertoire to some genres and topics I don’t read on a regular basis!

I’m looking forward to sharing books and reading experiences with you all this year!

Estefany Hi! I’m Estefany, I’m from Puerto Rico.

I enjoy books of almost every kind. My favorites are fiction, manga, graphic novels, YA novels.

I want this year’s challenge to be diverse. Read a bit of everything and hopefully explore new topics.

Thank you for letting me join.

That sounds like an excellent goal! I do the same thing where I can get in a pattern of reading just books that are kind of easy and fast, and it feels good to expand my reading list to include classics and bestsellers as well! I'd love to hear your progress, which classics you choose and what you think of the bestsellers that make it on to your list!

It's nice to see someone else who enjoys audiobooks! That's how I get about half my books in! I'd love to hear if you have any recommendations for well done audiobooks. I was disappointed with how little I read this year, even though I felt like I did OK (just barely made 10 book goal).

I like Science Fiction, astronaut biographies, other biographies, books about space, Buddhism, books about China... I like other things too but I can be picky sometimes?
