Mandy Beyers (mandybeyers) | 173 comments So we need another "o", right? Because we can use series name, I am reading Harvest Hunting, An Otherworld Novel.

message 52: by Joy (new)

Joy | 281 comments Awesome possum! It looks like we'll have a completed second round. I'm enjoying the challenge too. Finishing two books in one week is definitely an amazing feat, and our team of four is fantastic.

*puts on shades* Fantastic. Four.

/end bad jokes

I finished The Orphan Master's Son and it was AMAZING. I loved it so much, and highly recommend it.

One of my favourite books Joy. I actually intend to re-read it this year. I didn't care for the audio much though, the accents just didn't so it for me, but an absolutely amazingly clever book

message 54: by Joy (new)

Joy | 281 comments When I was reading it, it reminded me of Catch-22. At times, it was frustrating to read, but on the whole really satisfying. Definitely one I'll need to re-read.

message 55: by [deleted user] (new)

Hello everyone I just signed up and was sent to join this group :)

How is everyone doing?

message 56: by Ashley (new)

Ashley (zieglerae) | 25 comments Just checking in I'm so sorry about not doing this sooner! I'm currently reading Game of Thrones but can take a break from it to read something for this challenge.

message 57: by Jaclyn (new)

Jaclyn Just poking my head in to say hello to Kelsi!! Welcome to the challenge! :)

message 58: by Mandy (last edited Jul 19, 2014 11:50AM) (new)

Mandy Beyers (mandybeyers) | 173 comments I finished Harvest Hunting for another "O". :) I guess we'll have finished the word again, so there's no point in starting a specific book until they spin the wheels again?

message 59: by [deleted user] (new)

Hi Jaclyn! Thank you! :)

Guess I can't really contribute to this weeks challenge but once we have our genre for next week I am excited to start reading! I added you as a friend Kerry-Anne :)

Kelsi & Ashley - Welcome to Team Hook! if you have any books read since 12th July they may also count for week 1

message 61: by [deleted user] (last edited Jul 19, 2014 03:58PM) (new)

The only book I finished after the 12th (finished two on the 11th of course!) was Death Note: Black Edition, Volume 1 by Tsugumi Ohba so I could contribute an 'O' from Ohba. Not sure if graphic novels are applicable for this though...

message 62: by [deleted user] (new)

Ya I generally prefer novel length books I just read that one for a change of pace :)

message 63: by Mandy (new)

Mandy Beyers (mandybeyers) | 173 comments I finished another book today with an "H" - Among Thieves by Douglas Hulick 5*!

I'm starting an "R" - Real Men Do It Better

message 64: by Juliana (new)

Juliana Rodrigues (julianamfrodrigues) | 1748 comments Hi team!
Welcome on board Kelsi and Ashley!

The time is almost finished for week 1 and unfortunately I couldn't finish my third book. :(

Either way, we did great.

message 65: by Juliana (new)

Juliana Rodrigues (julianamfrodrigues) | 1748 comments Wow, Horror again!?!
I'll finish the one that I'm currently reading and we will have a "R".

message 67: by [deleted user] (new)

I am currently reading The Stand which is horror, I could count it for R using character Randall Flagg. I really hope I can power through it before the end of the week, I have just over 500 pages left. I will try to focus on it.

message 68: by Mandy (new)

Mandy Beyers (mandybeyers) | 173 comments Well, I started an "R" and I have an "H" that I can read as well. Real Men Do It Better and Sworn in Steel - neither one is horror though.

message 69: by Joy (last edited Jul 19, 2014 10:46PM) (new)

Joy | 281 comments What we have:

H - The Fault in Our Stars (Character: Hazel)
O -
R - The Fringe Worlds (Author: T. R. Harris)
R - The Stand (Character: Randall Flagg)
O -
R - The Mark of Athena (Author: Rick Riordan)

I'm going to start by reading a Rick Riordan book, unless the bookstore has White Space, which has a character named Rima, and would count for horror.

Either way, assume I'm taking one of the Rs.

I've chosen to read The Mark of Athena by Rick Riordan, so all we have left for the first read through is Os.

Also it's hilarious that we got Horror twice in a row.

message 70: by [deleted user] (new)

If you search in goodreads there is a page for books 300 pages or less :) you should be able to sort them alphabetically.

message 71: by [deleted user] (new)

Hang on search for it in google first. For some reason it doesn't come up if searched directly from goodreads but it is a goodreads list. It should be the first result in google using search term: books with less then 300 pages.

message 72: by [deleted user] (new)

Absolutely :)

message 73: by Ashley (new)

Ashley (zieglerae) | 25 comments When will we get this week's genre?

message 74: by Joy (new)

Joy | 281 comments What you should do is read middle grade novels. (Hence why I'm going back to Percy Jackson.) They're easy to read and if you find the right series, they are still quite good.

message 75: by Juliana (new)

Juliana Rodrigues (julianamfrodrigues) | 1748 comments Morning all!!

I have finished my first book of the week. The Fringe Worlds by T. R. Harris.

So good to see that our little group is getting bigger! :)

I'll try to find a "O" book so we can finish our first Horror spell it out.

message 76: by Juliana (new)

Juliana Rodrigues (julianamfrodrigues) | 1748 comments Ashley, you still didn't have marked Four: A Divergent Story Collection as read. If you don't to it soon, we can not score that. Can you check that asap? :)

message 77: by Juliana (last edited Jul 21, 2014 12:22AM) (new)

Juliana Rodrigues (julianamfrodrigues) | 1748 comments So, I've started Ender's Game by Orson Scott Card. :)

message 80: by Irene (new)

Irene I'm here! Would have been a little sooner but had a little tummy trouble strike just as I was leaving work last night. Not nice! But I'm feeling better now.

message 81: by Ashley (new)

Ashley (zieglerae) | 25 comments Finished Four by Veronica Roth

It's 326 pgs so I'm going to get started.

message 83: by Irene (new)

message 84: by Ashley (new)

Ashley (zieglerae) | 25 comments Kerry Anne- yes I finished it today and marked it read. My next book is Identical by Ellen Hopkins and if there isn't an h available one of the characters' names is raeanne

message 85: by [deleted user] (new)

Yes character named Randall Flagg :)

message 86: by [deleted user] (new)

Lol that's ok! I have those days quite often!

message 87: by Joy (new)

Joy | 281 comments Do we have a week 2 master list posted somewhere so we can know which letters are taken? Also, I'm about a third of the way through Mark of Athena (Rick Riordan).

message 88: by Juliana (new)

Juliana Rodrigues (julianamfrodrigues) | 1748 comments Kerry-Anne, I think we should keep week 1. Maybe we could need that information during the later weeks and have it in one place would help.

You could insert a comment in week one resume with the message number for the follows weeks list. What do you think?

what else do we need?

message 91: by Mandy (new)

message 92: by Juliana (last edited Jul 22, 2014 08:46PM) (new)

Juliana Rodrigues (julianamfrodrigues) | 1748 comments Great girls, two more books!

I'll put a list here for now so we can have a little guidance.

Round 1
POINTS: 40/60

H The Fault in Our Stars, by John Green, character named Hazel (Kerry-Anne)
O Ender's Game, by Orson Scott Card (Juliana - 7/22/14)
R The Fringe Worlds, by T. R. Harris (Juliana - 07/21/14)
R The Stand, by Stephen King, character named Randall Flagg (Kelsi) Horror
O Aftermath, by Owen Baillie (Irene - 07/22/14)
R Four: A Divergent Story Collection, by Veronica Roth (Ashley - 07/22/14)

Round 2
POINTS: 20/60

H Sworn in Steel, by Douglas Hulick (Mandy)
O Obsidian Curse, by Barbra Annino (Irene - 7/22/14)
R Real Men do it Better, by 4 author (C. A.; L. L.; S. D.; L. W.) (Mandy - 07/22/14)
R The Mark of Athena, by Rick Riordan (Joy)
O
R Identical, by Ellen Hopkins, character named Raeanne (Ashley)

We could use Joy's book The Mark of Athena for letter "O" since it's from The Heroes of Olympus series, if we need it.

After I finish Ender's Game I can fill a "R" or a "H".

What else you girls have?

I also updated the spreadsheet Wheel-a-thon Team Hook .

message 93: by Irene (new)

Irene Do we need any more horror or just the letter O?

message 94: by Juliana (new)

Juliana Rodrigues (julianamfrodrigues) | 1748 comments Irene wrote: "Do we need any more horror or just the letter O?"

For now the letter "O" should be our focus if we can. We only need one Horror book.

message 95: by Irene (new)

Irene So my next books is Obsidian Curse (A Stacy Justice Mystery #5) by Barbra Annino by Barbra Annino

message 96: by Juliana (new)

Juliana Rodrigues (julianamfrodrigues) | 1748 comments Irene wrote: "So my next books is Obsidian Curse (A Stacy Justice Mystery #5) by Barbra Annino by Barbra Annino"

Ok Irene! :)

message 97: by Joy (new)

Joy | 281 comments Can Heroes of lympus count though? It's not the first letter of the series name, that would be the H. So I think it could count as an H or a R, but not as an O.

message 98: by Juliana (new)

Juliana Rodrigues (julianamfrodrigues) | 1748 comments Kerry-anne wrote: "We'll use Joys book as an H for the next spell-it-out im reading an O to cover, as it has to be the first letter of the title :)"

Sorry girls! I didn't see that it have to be the first letter of the title. My mistake. :(

message 99: by Irene (new)

Irene finished Obsidian Curse (A Stacy Justice Mystery #5) by Barbra Annino by Barbra Annino 7/22/14
