On with the show - more tweaking of WiP.

But frankly I'm mentioning it here, because I think the tale of C S Splitter, (and his boss) deserves wider coverage than just down in a blog thread.

every so often you read something and realise that there are decent folk out there. So read it :-)

Cheers

Yep, sounds like life with kittens

Poor thing must have been frozen. You're a good soul to worry.

Now to go and feed sheep.
As I walked up to church i thought to myself, "At least I won't have to go and check the wintering hoggs because I'll have seen them"
I have seen them, it looks as if one of the little sods has its head caught in the netting at the far side of the field, so I'm not even sure whether it's caught or not

Yes the little cat was cold, her nose was bright red. The back gardens have plenty of kitty hidey holes, I’m shutting them in and they are staying in in future. My nerves are stretched enough.

Drabbling again. I thought I'd exhausted all my 100 word ideas but they keep coming. Now I'm back in the editing!

Nothing done on the writing yesterday. Determined I shall today..
Then an inevitable meeting this aft. Why do people love meetings?"

Nice one, Jim!

Snowing wholeheartedly here and settling comfortably. I'm wondering how accurate an increase of 8 degrees forecast for Tuesday is.
Himself hasn't been well and finally went to the GP to have Vitamin D deficiency diagnosed and tablets plus folic acid tablets prescribed. I settled for an over-the-counter dose to see if they made me feel more inclined to cope and do things. (This post may mean they're working...)

Yes, I fed the others, checked everybody else and then went up to check the wintering hoggs again. If it had been stuck it wasn't stuck now so I turned the quad round and headed home through the rain which was just starting up again to get my dinner :-)

When I got back from church I had a coffee before going out again. For once my timing was perfect, it had almost finished raining when I went back out, almost didn't rain when I was out, and never quite got started just as I came back in for my dinner :-)

It is raining here, and cold, cold, cold. Still no snow. Doubt it'll get this far south, which isn't a bad thing. I have quite a bit of travelling coming up and don't want to be stranded on-island when I have somewhere else to be or stuck in the UK when I just want to get home.

Incidentally the auto correct gave me Anglican for Anglian and when I looked to correct it the only alternative it offered wad Croydon ... mmm go figure.

Some day I will strive to understand 'tea.'

Some day I will strive to understand 'tea.'"
That was my evening meal :)

Alicia - "tea" all depends on context.
If you're talking to a builder it means PG tips, milk and three sugars. Ta, darling.
If you're talking to a health fanatic it means hot water flavoured with nettles, camomile or some other such sweet-smelling leafy thing. No milk or sugar.
If you're talking about food, in the south of England it means cucumber sandwiches with the crusts cut orff and some frightfully tempting little cakes. Around 4 pm. With your little pinky raised and the working classes dressed in black and white pinafore dresses. Including the women.
In the north of England, tea means your evening meal. You have your dinner at midday and your tea when the sun goes down. Just before Coronation Street starts.

There is no rain. Should I be concerned about this strange climate change?"
we've got something similar, but at least there were a few drops in the air to give us some hope that normal service was still possible

We did a bit of faffing around at the shops this morning. Came home with birdseed!
Done another drabble for the Hippo. Now to edit!

Life is good."
You are a woman of simple tastes.

Well I wasn't going to say it but that did pop into mind ;)

Thank you, Will. I know some of these things subliminally (all those British, etc., novels, you know), but the word still means a hot beverage in my literal little mind, and putting that in the oven seems... strange. I mean, by the time tea is a hot beverage, cooking is in the past.
I don't like tea. I don't like coffee. I never drink a cup of either, so I'm a poor person to have an image of pleasantries which include tea and something else (it's ALWAYS the tea with tea people), but I'd absolutely love some of the little cakes (that's me, always stealing only the part I like), and I abhor cucumbers, so that part you can keep.
So much so that my beta reader, a lovely young American from Louisiana (how I found her, and the universe put us together, I will never understand, but I am eternally grateful) had to point out, that, in the South of the US, it is always 'iceD tea', not 'ice tea,' and really 'iceD' makes more sense - just a few days ago.
My character doesn't drink iceD tea, but her friend does, and it cropped up in a recent scene, and I got it wrong - and never even thought to check.

Now I'm slightly confused. If it is iced tea, as in tea that has been frozen to ice, how can you possibly drink it? Is it served on a stick and licked, like an ice lolly?

Will, its cold tea with lumps of ice in it."
It is actually made by taking hot tea, and pouring it over ice (usually in a tall glass with a metal spoon to prevent cracking the glass when pouring a hot liquid over ice). The powdered stuff is a modern 'convenience.'
Thanks for the cakes, but now you've made me hungry! They look scrumptious.
