this is starting to sound like my M&S Knicker adverts deluge

Rosemary (grooving with the Picts) (nosemanny) | 8590 comments Lucky you. I'm just getting various banks touting their current accounts.

Neighbours have got a team of 'tree surgeons' in. They are very fond of their power tools. And their exceedingly noisy chipper

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments Eh up. Can't say morning as I got here too late.
Weekly food shop all stowed away and wardrobe clear-out passed on to Sally Army.
Mattie the chicken is enjoying some sunshine on her field. Lovely to see!
Off out for tea with the WI.

Lynne (Tigger's Mum) | 4643 comments Morning, I’m dealing with a slightly under par little lad. Think he’s going to have a cold - hope it’s not chickenpox. If it’s anything like yesterday’s delivery to school the pavements will be clean. I nearly had to drag him in he right direction because he wanted to ‘drive’ my car. I laughed the first day but getting him out of the seat yesterday was challenging. He’s too heavy now for me to fireman’s lift him. I have to use devious methods and I’ve run out of ideas.

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12594 comments Oh dear Alicia. Bathroom lightbulb went last night, and I’ve ran out of lightbulbs, so had to wash the litter trays using the torch on my phone last night, good job we have an extra bright streetlamp!!

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments I wish I'd have had a drink an before my last post, Will. I'd been outside on playground duty, trying to solve football disputes.

Love it when the kids want me to decide if a foul occurred. I just say yes and let them get on with it.

I love the calendar, Mary!

Someplace after 4, but I slept until 10. It just messes up my day.

It is infuriating to run out of lightbulbs. We are creatures of the light.

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments I'm gonna draw a line under the day and go to bed.

Thank goodness tomorrow is Friday.

My brain is frizzled.

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments I got to sleep around 6 am and woke up soon after 3 pm! I know what you mean about your body being ready to sleep, Alicia.

Rosemary (grooving with the Picts) (nosemanny) | 8590 comments Ah GL I got up before you went to bed! It's been a gorgeous day here today, no wind and blues skies. All the wee birdies reckon it's spring and were making a right racket.

Haggis for dinner tonight - veggie as well as traditional sheepy bits - followed with a tincture and a toast to the Immortal Memory. Not that we'll do much reminiscing, mind, just the toasting :D

This time I tried half a benadryl tablet at 2. Not much help - or it took two hours.

Melatonin worked a couple of night ago, but gave me a horrible bunch of weird dreams (no, not useful for fiction), and a slight sickness to my stomach the whole next day. I don't like the aftereffects. I had taken 0.5 mg (1/6 a 3 mg. tablet); may need to try a smaller dose.

Getting up every day and using the light therapy box in winter helps some, but it is erratic because my sleep is. Don't dare wake myself up to try to reset the clock - I lose the entire day if I don't let myself sleep once I get there.

Now, if the rest of the world would just adjust itself daily to MY schedule...

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments Yeah - why should we have to be the ones to adjust! That reminds me, I have to put in tomorrow's grocery order. I'll probably look for the 7 to 9 pm slot. To be on the safe side.

We had a bonny morning with only one shower about 10:30am but then fine until gone 2pm at which point it remembered it hadn't really rained on us for, oh, hours, and felt that we might miss it, so it obliged with a nice drop of rain!

I take some supplement that helps with seratonin/melatonin but my dreams have been weird on them! My neighbour has got a new supplement she wants to try, will do that on Sat, am exhausted and not been back at work 3 weeks yet. Mind you, yet again its 9pm before having tea so eating a bag of crisps, had a cereal bar at the hairdresser.

don't go there Will, swedes and turnips are different depending on what part of the country you live it :-)

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12594 comments We have blue sky!! Just had an e-mail from the shopping centre that gave us the donation last week, they have a new campaign this year and have offered us the first slot, so might have to do that with one of my days off.

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments I knew too!

Okay, you lot can have a few hours of the sunshine that's rightfully mine.

We're starting a pet food drive at school next week for the dog rescue place here.

Hopefully followed by a drive for one of the many orphanages.

I also read it that Patti was planning a 'drive by' at one of the many local orphanages

Rosemary (grooving with the Picts) (nosemanny) | 8590 comments I grew up in Aberdeen and never ever heard the term swede. Neeps were turnips and vice versa, and were indeed what you made lanterns from at Halloween. Usually gaining a vicious knife/scoop wound in the process.

I grew up in Ayrshire, Rosemary, and I never heard of a swede until I was in the Channel Islands. It was turnips and neeps, which to us were the same thing. I remember the turnip lanterns as well. Wee bit dangerous!

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Grief, it's cold!
I've had to go round the flat and turn all the heating to 'high'.

Apparently, it's going to hover around the freezing point for the next few days.
Fine with me. I've made sure we've got enough shopping in to do us the weekend, so I can cocoon.

I need a foul weather book.

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments A foul book about weather, or a book about foul weather?

Having said that, I wanted to buy an over-the-road chicken to dismantle for the freezer last night, but they didn't have any ready.

Might put clothes on later and cross the street to get one.

Still have to take a bus, two planes and a couple of taxis before I get home around 5.30pm tonight.

Hopefully you have better plans for today.

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Yes, safe journey, Kelly! I'm exhausted just thinking about it.

I woke at 3:30. If I was sensible, I'd go back to bed now.

I've had a full morning already, though. Made a banana cake, pizza dough and pancakes.
Thawing a leg of lamb for tomorrow, too. Not that that takes any effort on my part.

Apparently, it's snowing up by school. Just drizzle down by us. It's always a few degrees warmer down here.

In some weird twist of fate all the Scottish people In my life came from Ayreshire for about the first 20 years. McOther is from Stevenstone, the two I knew growing up came from Beath, as did McOther's mum. His Dad's from Glasgow, evacuated to Stevenstone during the war.
