Does it interest any of you?"
I doubt I'll ever read them
Indeed they're the sort of books I'd move out of the way in a second hand bookshop to get to the ones I'm looking for :-)

Morning! It's on iPlayer - Beechgrove Garden

That's great news Lindsay. Ooh, that doesn't sound nice Patti. Nah, I won't even look at the list Patti

Poo. Iplayer doesn't work here. I'm too tight to pay for a vpn and the free one I used to use doesn't work anymore.
Hopefully I'll still be able to see it when we go home next month.

I've had to ask Alla to close the window in the spare room where she does the ironing. I feel a bit bad about that but I couldn't handle the stench.

It’s a fête des Voisins (neighbours) today, so we’re all going next door for a ‘do’. I’ve got lovely neighbours here as well as at home.

Well done Lindsay, good luck for the rest too.
I'm so tired today but I made a new dress last night so it was worth staying up a little too late :o)

Trust everyone is fit and well.

Congratulations - worth staying up a bit late.

It will get better as you regain your full strength. Get extra rest meanwhile.

Glad you survived it, not surprised you were exhausted afterwards, it'll come back in time.

Whatever the reasons or excuses, in my mind that taints ALL the reviews from that reviewer, and leaves an icky bait-and-switch feeling in my mind.

Just gulped hot coffee and it hurt my chest straight through to my back!
Woke me up, though.
Don't be too fixated on getting reviews, Alicia. I'm not sure if anyone has much faith in them anymore.
Keep writing and get a fan base talking to each other.

Thanks, Jim.
He's 99% sure he's read it. He's read others by that author, he says.

I don't recall it ever being this bad.
Ah well. Fresh Welsh air soon.

I think you're absolutely right here Patti. People only see the reviews if they get to your amazon page. By that time they can 'look inside' and get a feel for the book anyway.
The really really difficult thing is getting them to the amazon page in the first place.
In theory if you have enough reviews amazon will make your page more prominent but I guess that to reach that level now you'll need hundreds
To have hundreds of reviews legitimately you'll already have sold tens of thousands of books so people are finding it without amazon making the page more prominent

(After multiple giveaways and a lot of networking, I have 5)
Morning, everyone! Meant to be nice today.

Sorry Baku still smells Patti.

Well - there's been a fair old lot going on here! Positive vibes re the job search Lindsay. Good sign that they asked you back for a 2nd interview before the 1st one ended.
I am home and won't be travelling for a few weeks. Yes!
Extreme excitement - Peter James has moved to Jersey and did a book signing at Waterstones on Thursday. They limited tickets to 30, so it was a friendly and informal gathering. He was such a lovely, interesting and funny man. Am now reading Dead If You Don't.

Thanks Desley. So do I. He will be at the Jersey Festival of Words on 28th September as well AND, so excited, he followed me back on Twitter, (I know, I know - sorry, fangirl moment!)

Well, I wasn't sure when I was going to Jersey, but will aim for that festival, thanks

Here is the link to the website http://www.jerseyfestivalofwords.org There is a video of last years events and I am on at just after a minute. Cool!

Off to watch Kelly!

But Lauren Child! Wow!
I would love to have a good chat with her. Her books are remarkable. I have taught many a lesson around her books.

Back from hols with a bang and catching myself up. I hope.

Off to watch Kelly!"
Ah yes, they whizzed past me on the compilation. I was with two friends. The Lauren Child session was really popular.

I don't think I've ever read a Lee Child either, Kath.
Glad you're back. Holiday was good?

Thanks, brother says I can go, just need to check with work. Had a lovely meal, couldn't tell it was vegan. Still stuffed 5 hours later. Sandals worked. Did leave my jacket on the bus, luckily it was an old one and my neighbour had a spare, I will buy a new one. Neighbour bought me a blind when they went out, shes putting it up tomorrow. Was warm but too windy to sit out and read

sounds like a good day :-)
Strikes me that writers need something where you can just sit and chat to people and sell to passersby. it's something I'm trying to find, the equivalent of the musician doing the live gig
The problem is that 'events' are too dear and you struggle to cover the cost of transport and your table.
Live gigs in schools can be disappointing. I know some people who do them and they get regularly messed about and one complained to me that one school expected her to perform free AND give the children cheap books

I'm pleased to see the results of the vote in Ireland.
Couldn't care less about the result of some game or other, though.
We seem to have had a bit of rain in the night. The air is much fresher this morning. Nice to have the balcony door open!

Thing is people will happily stand behind you and watch you paint or draw, but if they did that while you were writing it would just be weird
Morning all. Thickest of the thick fog out there. Hope it'll lift soon

And utterly boring.
Can you imagine the commentary, "Yes he's just typing, typing some more; oh look he's stopped and deleted something and now he's typing again.
We seem to have missed both the thick fog and all the thunder storms

Just asked Dave what that means and he sang me a little song.
He really couldn't carry a tune in a bucket, bless him.

Yes, I'm also pleased with the Ireland result Patti. Glad you sold well R.

Had a big cooked breakfast - the only one is on Sunday - and got a loaf rising. Now I'm going to write the synopsis of a new story I thought of while in a ruined chapel in the gardens of Eggleston Hall. Very atmospheric - tree growing up through the middle. Got me going, that did!
Then a review - I've got a few to catch up on since my hols, but I'm doing one or two at a time or I'll do nowt else.
Have a lovely Bank Holiday, each and all.

Oh Kath - wow - the energy, the energy!!

Morning everyone.
This part of Scotland is really showing at its best; the last few days have been lovely with (apparently) more to come. And no cold wind either.
Off to buy compost and plasters later on.

Found it. It’s a tassel hyacinth, muscari comosum. Amazing I’ve been looking off and now for a few days, posted here, then found it. You’re magic you lot are.
