Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Yeah, I did.

I think we may need a 'challenge GL for a picture' thread.

Go on, GL. Open one.

I dare you.

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments I don't take dares.

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Okay. I challenge you.

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments Or challenges. Unless you come over here personally and slap my face with a gauntlet.

message 4905: by Patti (baconater) (new)

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Erm. Fresh out of gauntlets.

I did find a left hand llama wool hand knitted glove in the pocket of a pair of trousers I last wore when in Peru a few days ago. No idea where the right hand glove is.

I'm happy to smack you with the trousers. Or the glove. Or the wad of tissues I also found. The tissues were crispy.

Lindsay (kiwi365) | 3672 comments Evening all,

I have now finished at the office, i get to work the last 3 weeks of my notice at home. Now i really need to find a job!!

Got my father in law coming round tomorrow to help me take down an old shed and put some railway sleepers around my vegetable garden to keep a certain little boy off!!

Hope everyone is ok.

Will reply properly tomorrow, but I fully agree with this

No, its ok Patti. I'll wait until you find a proper gauntlet. I can live without crispy tissues!

Be careful of using sleepers, Lindsay. Last thing you want in your garden is anything soaked in creosote.

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12596 comments Morning all, no lie in, but I feel fairly human which is good! Got loads of housework to do, and the sun is shining, so if I get it done quickly enough, I can sit outside and read. Didn't come back with a purple ring last night, I came home with one on blue wire, will post pics later. Thanks for the good wishes Jim and MT, have been having stabbing pains in my bunion since having my foot prodded!!

Glad that you don't have to go back to the office Lindsay, good luck with finding a new job. So sorry that you have had a bad week with your parents MT, do hope you get some help soon. So glad OH is so supportive though.

Benjamin Appleby-Dean (benjaminappleby-dean) Morning all. Another nice day from the looks of things, though I've got lots to catch up on.

Good luck on the jobsearch, Lindsay - these things are always a trial.
Hope you keep feeling better today, Desley.

message 4912: by Lindsay (new)

Lindsay (kiwi365) | 3672 comments Morning all,

Thanks for the warning Patti, luckily these are untreated sleepers so should be fine.

Beautiful day here, gonna be nice out in the garden.

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Hot and dazzling bright here.

A bunch of my friends are getting together to drink Pimms, eat cucumber sarnies and watch the wedding.
I shan't be joining them.

Funny, there's not a Brit in the bunch. Kiwis, Ozzies and Canucks.

Rosemary (grooving with the Picts) (nosemanny) | 8590 comments Morning all, it's another fabulous morning (that's a whole week now). Been out and watered all the planters at the railway station and now enjoying second breakfast. And third coffee :D

No royal wedding fever here - this is Scotland. Although the wee village of Markle just along the road here have decorated their town sign with a couple of love hearts. Apparently there is also some kind of cup final later as well but I am even less interested in that (if that's possible)

Lynne (Tigger's Mum) | 4643 comments Good morning, hope everyone is well, baby had a better platelet count so they didn’t do the biopsy under anaesthetic. He’s got ITP which affects platelets, but they mentioned leukaemia to his mum and as they’ve not now done the biopsy she’s still very concerned. It could have been a flawed blood test but they’ve cancelled their holidays anyway.
I was quite relieved to be away from the wedding hoo haa but French tv was nothing else last night. Half of it wrong. Princess Meghan etc.
Hope your foots better Desley. Enjoy your gardening Lindsay, chin up Mary, keep going strong girl.

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments Morning. Wish I had as much foliage and flowers as they do for their wedding arch! They can keep the dress. I'll see enough of the flowers on the news, I think.

Bless you, thanks. I felt a bit worried replying to one of your mates. It was one of those comments where someone tells you what you're doing wrong when a simple show of support might have worked better.

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments It came across as a tad snide and preachy. Hopefully that was unintentional and it was well meant.

Good morning.

If it wasn't for my Facebook, I would have been completely unaware of the wedding.
I did manage to to remain completely ignorant of the cup final. I don't even know who played.

Out for dinner tonight. An ex-colleague is in town. I've made Thai fish curry.

Will Once (willonce) | 3772 comments Good morning all. Hope everyone is fit and well.

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12596 comments Morning all, had a lovely day yesterday, bit of housework, went shopping, sat in the sun reading a book, wish they could all be like that!! Did watch a bit of the wedding, popped to my neighbours and she had it on. I knew about football as one of the other neighbours was shouting a lot, so guess he supports the losing team, not that I know who was playing. Bit of housework today, then taking a friend out for birthday lunch, trying a new place, so hope it is nice.

Jim said it perfectly MT. Enjoy your dinner Patti

message 4923: by Benjamin (new)

Benjamin Appleby-Dean (benjaminappleby-dean) Morning all. Had a peaceful day yesterday using the royal wedding as an excuse to eat cake and scones.

Lynne (Tigger's Mum) | 4643 comments Too much excitement this morning, dog was very poorly and needed vet. Good job our vet was there and told us to bring him in straightaway. He’s feeling very sorry for himself so we’re going to sit on the bed and read all afternoon, always happens on bank holidays. It’s Pentecost tomorrow. Bit of a contrast to see a GP isn’t it.

message 4925: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth White | 1761 comments Afternoon everyone.

It has been a busy week with eye tests and GP appts. Himself has been referred to both the memory clinic and the neurologist attached to the stroke department (where he's been before) as both mental and physical agility are deteriorating. Apparently there's nothing wrong with his eyesight but he has developed an alarming tendency to drive uncomfortably close to the nearside.

I had half an eye on the wedding while in my current role as maid of all work - I thought I heard Meghan is now also the Countess of Dunbarton? This may explain why our Scottish neighbours had Union Jack bunting around their decking while they were barbecuing.

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12596 comments Had a lovely meal and catch up with friend, would definitely go to the place again.

Sorry that you had an emergency vet visit Lynne, do hope he's OK. Sorry that OH has had to have lots of tests Elizabeth

Lynne (Tigger's Mum) | 4643 comments Does it hurt your hand if you punch somebody?
On second thoughts I’ll just hide his iPad. That’s three times he’s had a video clip with sounds on which has set Billy off barking. It really echoes here. Stone floors no big carpets to muffle it.
To make my life more joyous my big toenail has just fell off after the damage the dog did to it a few weeks ago. He shoved a heavy piece of furniture over it. He jumped from the settee to a footstool and skidded into me, 80 lbs of dog plus Ercol chair, I was lucky he didn’t do more damage. Since I had my op I’ve got screws and a pin in that foot so I try to be careful with it. Sod’s law that’s the one that gets trodden on the most.
All in all I’m not moaning (much). There’s a lot of people with real problems out there. It puts these little niggles into perspective.

message 4937: by Jud (new)

Jud (judibud) | 16799 comments Morning.

I'm on my own for the next two weeks! The girl I have been shadowing is away on holidays. Needless to say, I'm feeling a little lost and bewildered. There's so much to do and I literally have no idea where to start! Going to bed earlier last night might have helped *yawn*

Big hugs Mary, you are doing a great job and your parents are lucky to have you as their daughter. There are many who wouldn't do the half of what you do for them.

I didn't watch the wedding either. I was out getting the kids feet measured and trying to get their hair cut (the place was closed until 2pm and I suspect they just wanted to watch the wedding). Their feet haven't grown so no new shoes needed, well Nathan's have grown half a size but we have a hand-me-down pair of shoes in that size. No hair cut either so I trimmed Nathan's fringe myself, with some success I might add, I only did the bare minimum though, to prevent any disastrous results.

Now I really must get back to work

message 4938: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth White | 1761 comments Morning everyone

Dry but no sun here. Just beginning to get a bit stressed by the state of the back garden - seems most companies have their books full. I could buy a strimmer for the grass = we're on a slope so lawn mowing is difficult and I can't manage a hedge trimmer nor can I reach the top of the (cypress) hedge.

I'm with you on being at odds with your OH, Lynnne - I have to remember that himself can't help it but I'm afraid patience isn't my middle name.

How's your house search going, Alicia? If we could up sticks and retire to the sun, I would, but Brexit has left everything so uncertain.

Best wishes to everyone feeling under par for one reason or another.

L.A. Kent | 3925 comments The Triffid is definitely doing something now! The flower or whatever it is, has been opening up over the last day or so, no doubt to cast it's spiny spoors using the wind on the rest of Cornwall!!

Now topping out at around 5 metres!

message 4941: by Jud (new)

Jud (judibud) | 16799 comments We planted a sunflower in the back garden at the weekend, I wonder if it will grow as successfully as your Triffid!

I never have any luck with plants, indoor ones that is. I haven't tried growing outdoor ones before.

message 4942: by L.A. (new)

L.A. Kent | 3925 comments Good luck with the sunflower Jud. We can do Triffids but never had much luck with sunflowers!

Mind you it's the first time in the twelve years since we planted it as a 6 inch baby it's done this.........

message 4943: by Jud (new)

Jud (judibud) | 16799 comments I've just googled "how to grow a sunflower" it looks pretty fool proof. I just need to get a plastic bottle around it to stop the slugs and snails from eating it before it has a chance to grow. Our garden is infested with the things.

message 4944: by Patti (baconater) (new)

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments The ELC garden here was infested with slugs and snails a couple months ago.

We sent the kids in to collect them and the garden is doing well now.
