Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Seems late for the baskets.
Having said that, back home no one starts planting outside until after May two-four weekend, no maybe it's about right.

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments I should probably try a macaroon to make sure they're okay.

I never fancy eating anything I've baked.

I'm sure Dave will be happy to give a verdict when he gets home.

message 5003: by Will (new)

Will Once (willonce) | 3772 comments Good morning all. I'm venturing into work on the train. That may sound boring and normal, but it will be the first time since my heart attack which happened on the train.

Fingers crossed.

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Bless, Will. That won't be easy.

Stay calm and check in when you get to work, please.

L.A. Kent | 3925 comments Morning alls. Lovely day again in very sunny Cornwall.

I like the reallys too. Great series.

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12597 comments Morning all, windy and overcast.

Glad you made it on time Claire. Good luck Will.

Benjamin Appleby-Dean (benjaminappleby-dean) Morning all. Another grey day.

Best of luck, Will - stay safe.

Just mail them here; we'll take care of them. Amazing how much food three grown children consume.

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments Take it easy, Will.
I can't abide coconut. Sticks in your teeth.
Hoping to visit a garden today. It has a teashop. I like it already.

message 5011: by Patti (baconater) (new)

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Oh, these macaroons will definitely stick in your teeth, Kath.

First time I've made them. Amazing how easy they are.

Will Macmillan Jones (willmacmillanjones) | 11324 comments Hope the day goes well, Will.

Having determined that the 70 year old bloke suffering delusions had no physical issues, the hospital chucked him out. In fairness, his social work team are as appalled as we are - he had been promised a bed on the psychiatric unit.

Finished! They don’t go out for another three or four weeks Patti. Grown on in a heated poly tunnel first. Traditionally seasonal stuff like bedding wouldn’t be put out in Scotland until well into June, even nearly July. Late frosts n that

message 5014: by Patti (baconater) (new)

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments It's 31C here today. Don't think frost is a worry.

I need some help folks.

Dave's nephew is getting married this summer. As far as I know, they haven't registered anywhere.

What the heck do I get as a gift?

message 5015: by Jud (new)

Jud (judibud) | 16799 comments Just give them money, Patti.

Morning... ehhh... afternoon.

I'm just sitting down to a salad, I'm being good with my pennies and bringing lunch to work everyday. Must get out for a walk though, it's gorgeous out there.

Sorry to hear about your heart attack Will, was it fairly recently? Hope you got to work okay!

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12597 comments The wind seems to have blown the clouds away!! Flared my sciatica up last night, wasn’t too bad when I got up, but driving made it worse, so have been shuffling round work again – only consolation is that while my sciatica can affect both legs, it is at least my bad side. Have been wearing different shoes this week, so foot is sore, luckily brought my other shoes with me, so have swapped them. No appointment yet, my neighbour got her MRI date 2 days after her appointment!!

Jud (judibud) | 16799 comments Here's a headline for you;

"Stags on Rum found tangled in lost fishing gear"

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Were they Welsh?

Bet they had tattoos.

message 5019: by Jud (new)

Jud (judibud) | 16799 comments It refers to the animal variety of stag, not the about-to-get-married kind.

message 5020: by Patti (baconater) (new)

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments The about to get married kind are animals.

I was on a flight with several once. Horrid creatures.

message 5021: by Jud (new)

Jud (judibud) | 16799 comments That's true. I'm talking about the more majestic, four legged, male deer version of the stag. Bambi, if you will.

message 5022: by Patti (baconater) (new)

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments The macaroons must be okay. Dave is on his third.

Sheesh.

Thank you very much.

Looks like Dexter wants me to do well too, he slept until 7am!!!!!

Hope everyone has a good day!

Rosemary (grooving with the Picts) (nosemanny) | 8590 comments Good luck Lindsay I'm sure you'll knock em dead!

If you'll forgive me LA but that's not the most attractive flower I've ever seen :) Impressive stature though

Seems to be a bit dull here today, can't hear any wind so maybe it's not too chilly (it's still coming from the east when it blows)

Have a good day all

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12597 comments Morning all, sciatica is better, foot is really sore and I have a stiff neck. Overcast here.

Good luck Lindsay

Forgiven, but even my brilliant photography can't capture the true wonderousness. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder and all that! We still can't get over the fact we planted it as a 6" baby 12 years ago and this is the first year it's done anything like this.

message 5035: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments Break a leg, Lindsay!
LA, most agaves are monocarpic. That means they die when they've flowered. Look out for new shoots at the base.
Intermittent internet present - at the moment!

Jud (judibud) | 16799 comments Good luck Lindsay!!

Morning everyone.

I went for a run last night, it bothered my toe a bit but it seems fine today so I'm not too worried. I'm 98% certain it isn't broken.

Thanks for the happy news Kath!! We can't get near the base because of the leaves of the offshoots the main guy, now standing at over 2 metres, has already produced. Maybe they will survive and the main one will die back. We'll be keeping fingers crossed and hoping that all survive!

Not so far Patti, still waiting for the request for permission to use the tweet pics. They did for a pic i got of a deer on the beach a couple of years ago, but not interested in the Triffid so far. Maybe it's not as unusual as we think it is. Even the Lost Gardens of Heligan likes it!!

message 5040: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth White | 1761 comments Morning everyone.

Lovely sunny day here today.

Your triffid reminds me of our day at the Welsh National Botanical Gardens a couple of weeks ago, LA. Fabulous main glass house featuring plants from arid regions all over the world and most of them about four times the size of the ones we've imported here.

Best of luck, Lindsay. May your day be stress-free, Will.

The phrase 'knocked you up' has a fairly specific meaning in the UK Patti... Rosemary might well need a stiff whisky to recover from the thought!

The only meaning it has back home is to make pregnant!

I do enjoy adapting my language usage, though.

Lindsay (kiwi365) | 3672 comments Evening all,

I think the interview went well. They asked me back for a.second interview before I left the first interview!

I now also have a phone interview for another position next week!

Thank you all for the positive thoughts, they definitely helped.

Rosemary (grooving with the Picts) (nosemanny) | 8590 comments Yay go Lindsay! Fingers crossed for you

My spot on the gardening programme turned out fine, I even managed to watch without squirming. The kids were great.

message 5049: by Patti (baconater) (new)

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Yay, Lindsay!

Where can we see the programme, Rosemary?

Good morning!

Baku absolutely reeks this morning. It often smells of rotten eggs or bleach. Today it's like someone poured petrol over the balcony.

So much for airing the flat before it gets too hot.
