I’m still trying to figure out how this works. I’ll update the tracking sheet when I get back because it isn’t working on my phone

Haha yeah I noticed that. We made it too easy for him... 😂

How do bonus points work

message 354: by [deleted user] (new)

I also can’t seem to get my spreadsheet spread from the app to work

message 355: by Siobhan (new)

Siobhan (poi5ongirl) | 8703 comments Hey, the spreadsheet works out all points for you. You just have to put yes or no (Y/N) in graphic novel, buddy read, challenge. Then once you've put the page count and date read in it will calculate the points.
If you can't get on, you could post here what book you've read, page count, and whether it was a buddy read/challenge read. And we can update it for you :)

You got Bonuspoints when the book you're reading is a Buddy Read, you can find a List of Buddy Reads here, feel free to join as much as you like. And if you like to suggest a Buddy Read yourself, you can do it here.
But you only get the Bonus Points when you start it with the others, in a time span from 1 week before the starting date and 2 weeks beyond it. Also you have to participate in the Biddy Read and leave a few comments. If a Book you've read falls under these terms, you will get Buddy Read Bonus points and are allowed to add a 'y' (means yes) in the Buddy Read column. The spread sheet will calculate the Bonus points on its own.

Another way to earn Bonus Points are Challenges, you can join as much challenges as you want to and when the Book you've read fits at least one of them you will earn Challenge Bonus Points. (You only get this bonus once, even if the book fits more than one challenge and its irrespecive of the Buddy Read Bonus. Here are the Challenges you could join: A -Z topic challenge (alternatively there are other challenges with Characters name or non-fantasy topics in this folder too), Book Cover challenge (I like this one best :) ), Incomplete Series Challenge, Overflowing Bookshelf Challenge and Bingo Challenge. It would be great if you could join some, to earn some Bonus Points ;) Like with the Buddy Reads you could add a 'y' in the Challenge column if the book you read fits to a Challenge.

And by the way, there's a third column where you have to add a 'y', if the book you've read is a Graphik Novel, because you will recieve less points for them. The sheet does it on it's own again ;)

Also you can find the rules here, they might answer some of the questions too ;)

Argh, I missed your comment, but I will leave my answer too, because of the links ;)

Siobhan (poi5ongirl) | 8703 comments Haha good point! XD

I'm gonna start Steelheart today! Excited :)

Anni | 5066 comments This is how the hard work is done :D

Uh, I will stalk the thread then! I'm excited too (more than I should 😂)

message 362: by [deleted user] (new)

Im already doing most of these challenges. I will wait to update because I don’t know the dates read from the app.

message 363: by Siobhan (new)

Siobhan (poi5ongirl) | 8703 comments Did the mods say if you should add books from when you signed up, or from when you were given a team? :)

message 364: by Anni (new)

Anni | 5066 comments As Bea is allowed to add books from when she signed up, I guess the same is true for Slytherpuff. :)

Ah good! I didn't see what had been said :)

Let us know if you need a hand updating the spreadsheet!

Choko (chokog) | 12597 comments I just wanted to let my awesome friends know that I am still here, just haven't had a PC for a month now to update my spreadsheet... Also, the World Cup ⚽, Wimbledon and Tour de France... You guys understand, right? 😊😀😁

message 367: by Siobhan (new)

Siobhan (poi5ongirl) | 8703 comments Sports isn't something I personally understand, but I've heard rumour they can be interesting 😂

Glad you're still here hun! When you get a PC back are we going to have an influx of points?! Haha!

Yeah I told slytherpuff in a PM that all books from the date of signup can be added.

By the way, you can check read date from the app. If you click on the book, there's a spot above the description that says "my activity" or something similar and it will show you dates.

message 370: by [deleted user] (new)

I guess I signed up June 22. I counted back 21 days.

message 371: by [deleted user] (new)

I believe the only books I can count are the Twilight series. They are all buddy reads and have been used for multiple challenges

message 372: by [deleted user] (new)

Also Sing Unburied Sing

message 373: by Choko (new)

Choko (chokog) | 12597 comments Siobhan and Virginie, thanks for keeping the torch going! And I must have really been missing for you guys to be catching up, 😂 😀😀😀😀! No, but I will probably add couple of points when the new 💻 finally arrives...

message 374: by Mayim (new)

Mayim de Vries | 2948 comments Ho, Choko, lovely to see you around. I really miss buddy reading with you. If you are unsure what to read, can I recommend King's Dragon to you? Shaitarn talked me into reading it and what a treat it is! Classy fantasy, for those who appreciate Guy Gavriel Kay and Jacqueline Carey kind of writing/setting. I am enthralled.

message 375: by Anni (new)

Anni | 5066 comments I feel you with your no PC-Problem! Well I've got a PC, but no internet connection since September... It's really annoying! 🙄
Anyway, it's nice to have you back and not only because of the points! ♥

Haha yes! Congrats!

As a fun related question: what was everyone else..."

Lowest amount of points was 2.4 which was for a book I had to read for an assignment.

Hi.
Can you please add 5.1 points for the book I recently read? It is Digital Fortress by Dan Brown.
Thanks!!

Interesting fact about our team:

We've read fewer pages than the Tome Raiders, but we have more points because of all the BRs and challenges we're doing. Great job, team!

And good job on the points!

We're clearly amazing at buddy reads and challenges! 😆

Wow well done on the points Anni! I was nearly catching you!! XD but I knew you hadn't updated for a while haha.

Well done Arkadeb by the way! Last time I checked you'd taken the lead in our team! :D
