My review of The Last Slave Ship: The True Story of How Clotilda Was Found, Her Descendants, and an Extraordinary Reckoning by Ben Raineshttps://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
One for the word nerds, like me.Jumping sharks and dropping mics by Gareth Carrol explains a lot of the idioms and phrases that have slipped into everyday English. Some I know and use, some not so much. Very entertaining.
4★ My review of Jumping Sharks, etc with several examples
Another one for the kiddies (and grown-ups).Love Grows Everywhere is a charmer of a small picture book by Barry Timms with some enormous ideas, wonderfully illustrated by Tisha Lee. Diversity and acceptance abound in glorious colour! I want to live there. 😊
5★ My review of Love Grows Everywhere with several of the illustrations

Facts and Other Lies: Welcome to the Disinformation Age, by Aussie author Ed Coper, is just as unnerving as you probably gather it is from the title. The current division in many democracies has been caused by bad actors with thousands of automatic bots that set us off down fake rabbit holes. Started with the printing press, escalated to social media. You may be sent one way, while I'm sent another. CLASH! If democracies crumble, guess what happens next?!
5★ My review of Facts and Other LiesIt's long, but I've included a lot of examples from this terrific book.

. A frightening look at communism. Especially relevant right now as history is being made in Ukraine. My review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
I read The True Deceiver by Tove Jansson, translated from the Swedish by Thomas Teal.An unusual book depicting a battle of wills between two women and which explores the lies we tell ourselves and each other.

Finished yestarday Us by David Nicholls.
Nothing special, going up and down on the story of a relationship; something quite common, but well told

I haven't read it Laura, but I saw an adaption of the book on PBS that had originally aired on one of the channels in the UK. I thought it was wonderfully acted and quite entertaining!

I bet! It is an entrataining novel. I've listened to it gladly. It has not "swept my out of my shoes" as other contemporary novels, still I enjoyed it.

The Murder Rule by Dervla McTiernan is a departure from her Irish detective series. This finds a US group trying to rescue wrongly convicted people from Death Row. But were they wrongly convicted?
4★ My review of The Murder Rule
It was such a delight to meet the fantastic Amanda Gorman in the bright children's book by Maria Isabel Sanchez Vegara. So young (only 24 on the 7th!), so talented, so inspiring. America's first Youth Poet Laureate.
4.5~5★ My review of Amanda Gorman with some illustrations and a photo

My review of Usurpers: A New Look at Medieval Kings by Michele Morricalhttps://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
Finished this week end an Italian classic The Viceroys by Federico De Roberto.
It describes the unity of Italy from Sicily, depicting Catania and the whole of the island from the second half of the XIX Century till the end of it.
Even if it was written in 1898, it is extramly modenr. Long, complex, but stongly recomended
