Raul | 745 comments Done reading The Spy Who Came In from the Cold by John le Carré

An interesting Spy novel written in the early 60s that describes Intelligence and counter-Intelligence operations from Western and Eastern powers from that era

Petra | 3324 comments I finished Solaris by Stanisław Lem.
I found the premise interesting but the execution dry and a bit dull. I also couldn't see the logic behind the actions of the 3 scientists.
This could have been a much better story. It's really an opportunity lost, I think.

message 5422: by Nancy from NJ (new)

Katz Nancy from NJ (nancyk18) I just began reading The Pawnbroker which is an older title write by my friend’s father, Edward Lewis Wallant. He was only 36 years old when he died so this is his only book. But what a book - absolutely wonderful. It was also made into a movie starring Rod Steiger.

Jennifer Cunningham | 29 comments I just finished Real Life by Brandon Taylor and Black Enough (YA Anthology) last week, and then immediately started Just Mercy by Brian Stevenson and Little Fires Everywhere by Celeste Ng. I highly recommend both that I just finished. The latter two are intriguing and I'm not super far into them yet. They have a slower pace so far.

I loved American Dirt prior to all of these as well.

PattyMacDotComma Elizabethan England - Shakespeare and Marlowe as minor characters with questionable ethics - great mix of real and imagined characters in P.F. Chisholm’s entertaining Sir Robert Carey historical mystery series. Loved A Murder of Crows.
