      Hi everyone!
I recently received a question off the boards which I think is relevant enough to answer here where others can see it.
Question: "I am planning on reading an omnibus which contains 3 novellas. Each novella has a title and different author. Sometimes I read just one novella and leave the remainder of the novellas for another time. Could I count one of the novellas as one book for either of the challenges?"
Answer: Absolutely!
Here's the thing about Goodreads. If you read a boxed set or anthology that contains multiple complete novels or novellas, GR only counts that as one item, not the actual number of books read. If I am reading a boxed set, I NEVER indicate it as the boxed set on GR. NEVER! I enter each book/novella within the set separately in order to receive full credit for what I have read, and hope each of you does as well. This is especially important for anyone participating in the Goodreads Reading Challenge. Make sure you receive full credit for what you read!

Thanks! And great advice.
I'm in. The main challenge is whether I can find books for words I didn't do last year, or whether I'll end up using old words with new books.
I'm in. The main challenge is whether I can find books for words I didn't do last year, or whether I'll end up using old words with new books. However, I might as well start off with a HAUNTED HALLOWEEN, which would both be new words.

This challenge will last from September 22, 2017 to December 20, 2017
** This is a "spell-it-out" challenge, where you will spell out a word (or words) using one of two options:
1. Use only the first word of a title. (The words "the", "and" "a" and "an" do not count.)
2. Use an author's first or last name.
Example:
A
U
T
U
M
N = Cold Pursuit by Carla Neggers
G = Ghost at Work by Carolyn Hart
H
O
S
T
** Books DO NOT all have to be mysteries. You can use any genres.
** Use a book only once for this challenge (but you can use it for other challenges, such as the monthly mini challenges).
** You DO NOT have to choose books in advance.
As with the winter challenge, we are deviating from the norm. You do not have to spell the same word as everyone else, but can choose to spell out one of the following words (or combination of words) — obviously some words will be more challenging than others.
