~Book Reviews by Trish~ (bookreviewsbytrish) | 14 comments I haven't read any of them either or the authors so I decided to try something new :)

Jan (jan130) | 2667 comments Good on you Trish. A brave decision to tackle whole series by new authors. I usually dip my toe in the water first with one book. Good luck in your challenge!

~Book Reviews by Trish~ (bookreviewsbytrish) | 14 comments so far i love the first book in my first series so we will see how it goes :)

That's great Trish. I have read and enjoyed both of the Shana Galen series, but none of the others. Look forward to hearing your thoughts.

Jan (jan130) | 2667 comments Yes I really liked my first read in this challenge (although I read Bk 1 at the VERY END of Dec 2017 so won't count that one). So my first that I'm counting was The Spymaster's Lady The Spymaster's Lady (Spymasters, #1) by Joanna Bourne

4 stars!

I updated my series tracker. Replacing my Tessa Dare series with a Karen Ranney series. I may go back and add the TD if I have time later, but all of the Karen Ranney ones are available on Hoopla, and I have already read the first one. It was good and am now interested in the rest of the series!

It's the Highland Lords. Hoopla has the ebooks, which I don't love reading ebooks on Hoopla, but I'll survive.

Andrea AKA Catsos Person (catsosperson) | 1635 comments Joanna,

I’m not crazy about the Hoopla app either.

In the M/M kindle group, I’ve heard that the Hoopla app for iPad is better than the the app for iPhone. Sigh. Of course I use the iPhone app.

It was ok. I have both iPad and iPhone, and I was trying to read on both, depending on my location, but it weirdly would not communicate and synchronize. And it would freeze up a lot, and when I tried to jump to a chapter, it would take me to the middle of the chapter, very strange. I really don't think it works better on the iPad in my experience, but I do think I need to do some software updates so that could be the reason.

Missy | 1477 comments I've completed two books from my series challenge, but the tracker is still showing 0%. When I click on the "0 of 35 (0%)", it takes me to this page that says:

WE DON'T SEE ANY BOOKS READ BY YOU IN 2018.
Want to add your books to this page? Set the Date Read for each book you read to any time in 2018.
See My Books shelved in 2018 (<-- this is a link on that page)

I click on that link and it only shows the books I've added/shelved in 2018. It doesn't even show the books I've read in 2018 that were shelved from previous years. So which is it, GR?! "Date Read" has to be 2018 or "Date Added and Date Read" both have to be 2018?!

I'm guessing my two books didn't go towards my challenge tracker, because I shelved them back in Oct. 2017. I tried to edit the date added, but GR doesn't have an edit button for changing the date you add a book to "To Read List".

Anybody else facing this problem? Also, the shelf name I chose for this challenge shouldn't have any effect on the tracker, correct?

I just did the tracker yesterday, so it 2018, and set up my shelves then also. I didn't have any problems with it showing the one book I've read.

Was your one book first shelved in 2018?

message 119: by Joanna Loves Reading, Bluestocking of HR novels (new)

Joanna Loves Reading (joannalovesreading) | 4120 comments Mod
no, I started reading it in 2017, so it was on my currently reading before 2018, but I didn't create my 2018 series challenge shelf until this weekend.

Missy | 1477 comments Joanna wrote: "no, I started reading it in 2017, so it was on my currently reading before 2018, but I didn't create my 2018 series challenge shelf until this weekend."

Hmm...I can't remember when I created my shelf for the challenge. I can try "leaving the challenge" and join again...

EDIT: Yes, it worked! But then again...I did make that shelf an "exclusive" shelf the first time and this second time I didn't, so I'm not too sure which one worked (creating the shelf in 2018 or not making it an exclusive shelf). Oh, well, as long as my tracker works now. Thanks for your input, Joanna.

message 121: by Jan (new)

Jan (jan130) | 2667 comments I have the same problem as Missy. I've read one book and it's on my shelf, but the tracker shows I've read 0 books. I did start that book in 2017 (on Dec 31st LOL) but finished it in Jan 2018. Maybe I'll try marking it as begun on Jan 1st in 2018 and see whether that makes a difference?

message 122: by Jan (new)

Jan (jan130) | 2667 comments Nope. Still says 0 books. Hmmm. I updated it and all..... Even though I changed the begin read date to Jan 1st, my review is still dated Dec 31st 2017 (even though I wrote the review when I finished the book on Jan 2nd). Again, hmm.......

Well, I'll have to wait till I've read another one of the books to see whether the tracker will update then.

Sometimes it is a GR bug, had this problem last year with one of my trackers for another group. Sometimes it was accurate and others not.

message 124: by Priya (new)

Priya (priyachennareddy) | 1544 comments I marked a book ( just as an experiment) from my Series challenge shelf as 'read' and it promptly showed up on the tracker. I created my shelf and added this book in 2017. So, I guess it is a GR bug.

I had problems with goodreads reading challenge tracker towards the end of 2017. It must be something similar.

message 125: by Giselle (new)

Giselle (gisellesbookgarden) It's working out for me... And can I just say how cool it is?!?!? I'm so happy about this. I had no idea GR had little mini challenges for groups like this. I just thought we'd be tracking everything in this thread. It's so awesome though.

I've completed 2 books for the challenge so far. Its so satisfying to come into this group and the first thing I see is that I'm 9% ahead. :D

message 126: by Missy (new)

Missy | 1477 comments I agree! It's so cool to have a separate tracker for this challenge. That's why I wanted mine to work.

Anyone interested in a Buddy Read?

P.S. : This is a Civil war trilogy, so, can be considered for Civil War sub genre in RATA Challenge.

I changed one of my series based on the first book I finished, since it was part of a series.

I plan to read Lady of Desire soonish. And hopefully get in on a buddy read for The Many Sins of Lord Cameron and some of that series.

I've been debating The Many Sins of Lord Cameron, I really liked Ian's book, then Mac's was not quite as good. And I'm worried they keep getting worse.

I have read it before, and liked it then. The Duke’s book I probably will not reread, because I wasn’t a big fan. I did have more trouble with Mac’s the secaond time around, so it may be the same for Cameron’s.

Missy | 1477 comments I can't decide which siblings series to read next.

Bridgertons? An Offer From a Gentleman (Bridgertons, #3) by Julia Quinn When He Was Wicked (Bridgertons, #6) by Julia Quinn To Sir Phillip, With Love (Bridgertons, #5) by Julia Quinn It's in His Kiss (Bridgertons, #7) by Julia Quinn

Hathaways? Mine Till Midnight (The Hathaways, #1) by Lisa Kleypas Seduce Me at Sunrise (The Hathaways, #2) by Lisa Kleypas

Or Bedwyns? Slightly Married (Bedwyn Saga, #1) by Mary Balogh Slightly Scandalous (Bedwyn Saga, #3) by Mary Balogh Slightly Tempted (Bedwyn Saga, #4) by Mary Balogh Slightly Sinful (Bedwyn Saga, #5) by Mary Balogh

I'll save the Mackenzies and McBrides for group reads (if I'm patient).

It's such a long and fun series.
